Yep, Luca, was thinking that the other day, I actually miss Vera, I don't really like these later episodes that much. Too much focus on the Freak almost stopped me watching. Cass is some light relief, but since Lizzie left, a light has gone from Prisoner. I miss her cackles and Bewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwdys!

I agree with you so much that PCBH can have highs and lows and concentrate too much on one character/story. With regard to our beloved Lizzie, Prisoner will never be the same without her and Grundy tried to replace her with some ''clonesque types'' who are utterly dreadful and cannot act let alone compete to the sheer brilliance of the casting of Sheila Florance. I stayed in the SOdomy Suite in the Sinbin Hotel. I had a problem with my shower curtain and the nightporter looked into it right away. Last time I saw Meg she was being turned into a pillar of salt. I told her not to turn back and stick her nose in to what was going on behind her, but she wouldn't be told!
@ThePurplebluehaze hey blockmate, well basically the story is that Val used to live quite some distance from the studios and would get extra pay to compensate etc. But later on in the series Val moved much nearer the studios and failed to tell Grundy or so thought Elspeth. Elspeth dobbed Val into Grundy bosses!!!.
Val claims she had informed the bosses and just lied to Elspeth that she was still claiming expenses to see if Elspeth would dob her in. Maybe a bit of reverse psychology by Val?!!.
@ThePurplebluehaze It was the result of a long-standing feud between the two and still exists today according to Val. Val goes on about it a lot in interviews and the like and certainly seems to revel in an overinflated ego IMHO. It's quite sad really that they could not just let it be and make things better!!! . The said lady doth protest to much and It could be sour grapes and or jealousy at work. who knows the truth or reality of it all my friend. take care and nice to converse with you. Luca
@LUCAX651 You might be right. Atlhough I miss Bea somewhat, I felt that she was a bit overinflated too. I get that feeling from interviews. Mind you, I think Elspeth could be a pretty determined lady if crossed!
@DanaDenali oh that was a really common fad when I was in primary school. It got worse when they brought out those 'strirup' pants! Horrible trend. I don't remember the early 80s when this was filmed as I was a baby but in the late 80s it was all knee socks worn ruffled to the mid calf and tracky dacks tucked into the socks.
I can see Myra Desmond following a similar path to Bea Smith!!
