i went on the road to Hana, and it was AMAZING! I would definately say that's a must in maui. One tip though, we made the mistake of taking the "back country" way home cause we thought it'd be faster... ya HUGE MISTAKE. It is absolute nothingness and no civilization for 3 hours and looks like the desert in Mexico. pretty much the exact opposite of the road to hana. lol that was the worst part of the trip lol don't take the back way!
If you are ever lucky enough to get to go to Maui, Hawaii you have to take the road to Hana. It's all twists, turns and narrow roads, but some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever see too. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Take in The Garden Of Eden along the way too.
I love the Hana Highway! I went there last week, and it was a really beautiful drive. When we finally got to the town of Hana, I bought a t-shirt that says "I survived the road to Hana!" Amazing video, by the way.
Nice video and tunes! I'm traveling alone to Maui for the first time. 'just felt desperate for for the need to get away a bit. Your video made me realize I shouldn't do a solo drive on the road to Hana--that's an experience to be shared with others! Maybe I'll do the drive next time I come to Maui with others. My wife and I went in September and your video took me back to some of my favorite sights on the Hana Highway. Our tour driver was Dennis Cabos and he made the trip oh so special. Mahalo for sharing this! Aloha!

I used to make that drive about once a week when I was living in Kula. I miss Maui so much now that Im not there anymore.

It's definitely woth the drive to Hana! Drive a bit further and take a dip in the sacred pools at the foot of Haleakala.
I've done the drive twice now. I think the best way would be to stay overnight in Hana and make it a 2-day adventure - at least.
