  • Did you notice all the guys in the coach asleep? Why the heck do they pay for this trip if they sleep thru it?

  • I was once a car attendant on a steam excursion from Birmingham to Chattanooga back in the 80's. No pay, but a free trip. I was a member of the Heart of Dixie Railroad club. The club had a several cars on the excursion. Our duties were much the same. Safety, Safety and don'tttt pull the red cord! If I lived in the Williams area I would like to be an attendant on the train as a part time job.

  • haha, peope arent supposed to stick their cameras out the window, cause those windows can come doen and bite yer finger right off. oh well. good footage

  • No both arms!. I had a small block that I stuck in the window to keep that from happening. Don't tell no one my secret!

  • lol, well no one is gonna do anything now. What was the name of your attendant?

  • I don't remember now, however he is in the first video of the Grand Canyon Trip. He was explaining how to flush the toilets on the train. (Dont' Flush while train is in station.) Those small window opening was one of two of my grips about that trip. Another was you could not stand in the vestibule. My favorite location on train trips to shoot video.

  • way cool. when did you go?

  • June 2, 2004 when we rode the train. We drove out from Alabama and spent almost two weeks in the SW. Toured Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, Sunset Crater and a few other site along the way. We did the overnight trip to the Grand Canyon. Had a great time! Were you one of the Paid Wavers? also.

  • Paid wavers? no, i was a service attendant. I pretty much did the same thing as the dude who announced the safety rules, etc. Although i only did it this past summer. fun job. the pay was crap though...

  • The Sheriff calls the band and people dress in period clothing at the Williams station the Paid Wavers, waving at the returning train.

  • @tcarr22239 they didnt have roads or cameras on board back than now this train is a deep classic like goin to the past of the 1900s and 1800s

  • good music =)
