@LordBifford Because it was cheaper sometimes, other times because of time constraints. Bear in mind when they made the shows they were working with some pretty harsh deadlines, and unless you want it to look like Red Dwarf sometimes you gotta reuse what you can.

This game is not good. Even with all the time in the world to actually add content, it will still feel small and boxed in. There is no real social contact and the community is divided between lifers and subs. Avoid.

Eve's a great game, and the idea of a persistent game world is awesome -- if you conquer something, it's yours until the other faction takes it back from you.

But...I tried it and didn't like the fact that it takes years to accumulate skills, and you can never "catch up" to the people who have been playing for years.

That model is, unfortunately, just a good way to get people to keep their recurring subscriptions indefinitely, just to skill up.

As much as I enjoy playing WoW, the thought of a decent MMO coming out that isn't fantasy/medieval genre is sorta appealing. That may be my favorite genre but considering I've been playing it for the last ten to fifteen years or so I think I need a break.

Never really been a huge trek fan but the fact they seem to allow you to play a science vessel might have me giving this game a look.

I had the same. I never really watched Star Trek and when I watched it, I thought it was boring ,but like you i've been playing too many fantasy/medieval MMO's that it just gets boring. I'm still stuck with WoW as the only MMO that grabs my attention.

But I think that'll change when star wars: The old Republic comes out.

As a former WoW player myself, I can say STO's friendlier community and atmosphere are a much-welcome breather from WoW, where so many players are absolutely miserable and running the same dungeon for the 273rd time to get "more badges, bro" while nerd-raging over "achievements."

In STO, Science vessels are currently very powerful. I play a Tactical Officer and I've been switching between Escorts and Cruisers, but I've seen the power of Science in PvP...it's a force to be reckoned with.

guess you were on open beta? yeah the game went a little suck ass when all the open beta people joined up as the server couldnt handle it, but now its nearly all fixed and working and it still beats wow, and the graphics are 100x better then WoWs shitty dx7 graphics. shards are a much better idea then realms, it means you can actualy play with friends rather then having to pay to move realms, and yes they need to sort out lag on europe side, but remember that lag forge was there for like 3 years

Because if everyone is flying their own ship, and your sovereign class looks just like everyone else's, it's far less fun. Your ship is your avatar in the space game and unique customization of the avatar's appearance in MMO' is a feature that's very important to many players.

im so excited for TOR im unsure where to pre order it though either through atari and get the digital delux edition or the special gamestop one. the dde has a lot of cool ingame stuff like the OS uniform options but the gamestop one has a lot of nice real life items as well as a couple cool in game items + TNG uniforms and a constitution class starship. but the dde has the "Kahn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" emote which is a big seller for me. so idk which i would rather have.

The nova is available as a science vessel in the 2nd tier and you start out in a miranda at tier 1 :) Not sure if the Oberth is in though...

It is the Constitution Class that you are thinking of I believe. It only comes with certain pre order packages, different packages have different perks.
