  • the omen set had weak audio. the surrounds were bloody weak. and the volume was low too.

  • Nerver heard of Who Saw Her Die. You get some good shiz! Blade in the Dark is an old Vestron home video release.

Got Hardware on VHS tape too. The R version was uncut to my knowledge, but was marked as so to differentiate it from the M version, which is actually extremely rare now. Haven't seen one for 20 years.

Sweet and Savage was censored, but who cares, it's a great release to get regardless. Nice to see another gatefold. Excellent score John!!!

  • I TOTALLY agree with you about French horror. Although Frontier(s) is considered the weakest of the recent ones, it was brilliant in my mind. I think you've seen Inside. I'll definitely have to see Begotten, will add to my list. And Shadow got rave reviews from Margaret and David I remember.

I didn't know that about the Bad Taste local DVD, must check out.

Did you actually hand over just $1 at Borders for the Crimewave DVD, or did you buy other things with it? Just curious lol.

  • @AussieRoadshow Yeh from a bunch of french horror titles I agree frontiers isnt the best, but it is superior to any new western horror. Begotten is actually one of the most disturbing films i've ever seen so go into it with an open mind, like you do with any film. The local bad taste dvd is actually better content wise, I mean it has a commentary but we lose the awesome fold out design box. That interesting to know about hardware, similar to total recall I resume. thanks mate for the comment

  • @AussieRoadshow oh yeh also crimewave I got by itself because there was literally nothing left but CRAP. so crimewave was the only decent title. borders are now all gone sadly

  • @lastalot Thanks mate, the bad taste dvd has an amazing packaging but is very light on features, our release has more features and is on 1 disc lol. cheers

  • Merthege actually did a third film. He did Suspect Zero in 2002 but it was shelved for two years and barely released.

  • I totally remember seeing Sweet and Savage in the video store as a kid. It scared the shit out of me.

  • cool update! ive been wanting to see frontiers for awhile.i love shadow of the vampire, i need t get it on dvd but im waiting until i find it cheap lol. when i heard you mention begotten, i was going to mention the marilyn manson video lol im a huge marilyn manson fan!!!! lol ive been wanting to see bad taste for years and then in sept i found it and i was shocked lol i had been looking for it for years and ut of nowhere i found it in a used dvd store, but i didnt like really like it that much :(

  • @plan9ofthelivingdead I was lucky to get shadow cheap so I'm happy lol. Yeh that manson video always fascinated me, he wuld even play it in concerts. I'm glad I finally saw begotten after hearing so much. Bad taste was another one of those films are really hyped up because jackson directed it, but then again it is SUPER low budget, unlike dead alive that had somewhat of a budget

  • 'Hardware' was released in Australian theatres cut under an 'M' rating then released in both a cut 'M' & uncut 'R' version on video by CBS Fox Video. Around that time in '91/92 several films were released in M & R versions on video, from memory there was Total Recall, Gladiator & Universal Soldier among others.

Btw 'Hardware' is getting a local DVD & BD release through Umbrella in August, not sure if they will carry over the features from the US release though.

  • @CarryTheZero1980 Ah so that explains a lot, kind of what happened with hellraiser and a few others. But i don't think its the true uncut version. I can't wait for the local umbrella blu ray, can't believe its getting a local release. Its so good it deserves a bigger fanbase. thanks mate

  • Woo finally found the channel!

  • Great pickups. Frontiers and Shadow of the Vampire are great. My Anchor Bay Bad Taste has that cover but is just a regular case, bizarre, and I got it when it first came out lol. HAH I just picked up Hills have eyes 2 for $2 on eBay. Crimewave is funny lol, 90c what a bargain. Hardware! Got that VHS too, and the bluray. Great pickups!

  • @ExplosiveAction Yeh apparenlty anchor bay released 2 versions, the limited 2 disc set only includes a short 20 min doco (which is on our local release anyway). I am still yet to see hills 2 ill get round to it, and hey if you got it for $2 whats there to loose? Can't wait to get hardware on blu locally here

  • Hey John. Glad to hear you loved Frontiers, will definately check it out. Holy, where did you get that edition of Bad Taste? I would love that edition.

I have Who Saw Her Die on the way from Amazon, it looks great. I also want to get A Blade in the Dark and Hardware, which is getting a Blu ray release here soon.

  • @ANDREWBALLINA Yeh frontiers really did blow me away, the french know their stuff. The dvd i got is the anchor bay limited edition which came out years ago, it can still be found. Let me know how those giallos are, also I am so excited umbrella is realsing hardware on blu!!!!
