There weren't many different fighting styles, besides the occasional breath of fresh air like Olimar or Ice Climbers. The 'information' the trophy's provide can be found on Wikipedia (probably more in depth). Online was horrible. The games balance was way off, not helped at all by so many characters. @ParadoxJuice Continued...But WoG went the extra mile with all of this. Brawl can get repetitive very fast, but World of Goo always throws more new ideas at you. I can't really explain it much more, but Brawl goes through phases for me, sometimes I enjoy it, sometimes I don't. I also feel like the game has SO much more potential than this (recovery especially. I love the fights to grab the ledge, but a lot of the time, all you can do is jump and use up+B). WoG is ALWAYS fun for me.
@ParadoxJuice when i said story, I was referring to the cut-scenes not the entire subspace mode. I just think that it's too intentional of a snub just so they can create controversy. How much "fun" one had shouldn't be the only factor (or else some Newgrounds games would win game of of the year ). As for the characters not being balanced (with the exception of Meta Knight) I don't think they are that uneven (my mains belong to the middle and low tier). Goo just had the element of surprise...

These comments dissing the world of goo are entirely off.... World of Goo knew exactly what it wanted to be. It seamlessly meshed unique design, challenging gameplay, and creative aesthetics. That's why it's better than any of the other games on this list.
When I played world of goo the first time, I was just amazed at how great this game really is. It was a surprise. How such an unknown game could turn out to be one of my favourite games ever.
But with brawl, I think the whole hype killed that. I already knew everything about the game before its release, and had high expectations. But of course, no game could have met them. Not even world of goo. But wog didnt have that.

By the way, just cause I side with World of Goo, doesn't mean I don't think Brawl is amazing, infact, I've logged in over 395 hours in it, have beaten the Subspace Emissary 5 times each with a different difficulty level, never hacked it once, and have completed every Challenge using four hammers and once I pwned a level 9 ganondorf teamed up with a level 9 bowser with jiggly Puff, just sayin

To be fair, Brawl is basically a graphical upgrade from Melee and there arent any big differences in the gameplay in Brawl. But yeah, a wiiware shouldnt be GOTY simply because it is a Wii game, and content-wise Brawl pwns most Wii games. Wheres Metroid Prime 3 Corruption? Why wasnt it nominated, that was like the best wii game I ever played, and my 1st.

according to ign, they said brawl isn't much different from its prequels... if their idea of barely any difference is online play, boss battle mode, an adventure mode that actually makes sense, then half the worlds games doesn't have much difference with each other
