With the time road rules, do you have to beat the online times or would it be easier to do them offline? I don't remember if there's an option to race against offline times, so would you have to unplug your ethernet cable to compete against them?
That's a good question. It works like this: Beating the online Road Rules (whether Time or Crash / Showtime) doesn't count toward your game completion at all. That's just a way for you to compete with people on your Friends List. You can still be connected and signed in online to beat the offline Road Rules. On any given street, pressing Up on the D-Pad toggles thru the street sign at the top of the screen; toggle till you see "Best Offline Time." I hope that helps.
If you're playing on the PS3, press R1 and L1 at the same time. If you're on something else, I don't know what to tell you. Should be the button that skips radio tracks and the button that lets you look behind you.

I'm not sure what you're asking because you're saying that you've already set a record on every street. If you've already beaten the Time Road Rule on every street, then what do you want to do?
Anyway, the timer starts counting as soon as you drive onto one end of a street. Just drive from one end to the other in a faster time that the preset record and you've beaten the Time Road Rule. You can see at 1:20 in the video, as soon as I make a left onto Gabriel the timer starts.

You have to buy Big Surf Island, and you can easily get millions of points in a Stunt Run, it's just a matter of learning how to chain your stunts together. The Quarry and the Airfield are the best places to drive to during a Stunt Run, just drive there in reverse if you want to stop the timer.

If you press up and down on the D-Pad it will cycle the road signs thru the colors. Also, if you are playing online, sometimes the colors will not correspond to your offline progress. For example, you may have beaten the preset time (which is all that counts in the game) but if someone on your Friend's List has a faster time then it will display their name instead, but only while you're online. Okay, in the Pause menu, you have your number of Time Road Rules beaten, Showtime Road Rules beaten, and then a third listing of your number of Roads Ruled (which means that you beat the Time AND Showtime Road Rule for a particular raod). I've heard a LOT of people have had problems getting the Trophy for 10 Timed Road Rules to appear, even though they'd surpassed that. I think it's a problem with the Trophy.
You'd need to back up your save data, then delete it (temporarily), start a new game, immediately beat 10 Time Road Rules for the Trophy, and then you can delete that data and reload your original data. I've given everyone else the same advice and I've never had anyone say that that didn't work for them, but there's definitely something funky about that Trophy.

ive got about 78 wins till my elite license. done all road rules but not done any online challenges. same with my bike one. hard finding decent people to play with online
Even if they do the challenges, some are hard. My last 3 player challenge involved getting to the roof of the sports building. I managed to get up there and the 2 other people were commiting to getting up there too. I'd already done around 20 or so challenges with them so I knew they weren't that bad, but it took them 10 minutes (maybe less, but it was a long time) to get up onto the roof.
I persume the 8 player challenges which are hard require 8 skilled people, which is hard to find.
Actually I just got 102% recently for completing all of the Freeburn and Timed Challenges. There was no congradulatory speech and nothing was unlocked though...
Yeah, at least the 101 nets you the Carbon Ubershall, but the only thing 102 does is give you the pride of having 490/490. And it does take a long time, even longer if you don't have enough people to help you out (the majority of online players just like to goof off and get takedowns).
Yeah, after you get your Burnout License, every single event will reset (except of course for the Burning Routes), and then you get the Elite License when you win all 120 events. It's best to do all of the Burning Routes before getting your Burnout License, because that leaves you with fewer things to redo.
The free update on February 5th is supposed to make the game easier. Changes the way some of the cars handle (making them stronger and easier to steer) and tweaking some of the stuff in Stunt Runs and stuff...
Statistically the fastest car in the game (so far) is the Carbon Hawker. It has a 10 (maximum) in both Speed and Boost.
The Carbon GT Concept, Uberschall 8, Uberschall Clear-View, Racing WTR, Walmart WTR, PCPD Special, and Carbon X12 all tie for second, with an average of 9.5 for the Speed and Boost columns.
I chose the Opus XS for my final Marked Man event because it has 9 points for Speed, 6 points for Boost, and most importantly 7 points for Strength. This totals 22 out of 30, and of all the Stunt cars, the only one with a higher average is the Carbon X12, and no other Stunt car scores higher in Strength. There is no such thing as "the worst car in game" or "the best car in the game." It's a personal preference. Everyone handles the cars differently.
Because Stunt cars handle turns better. I've beaten every Burning Route, so I've had my share of driving experience with both Speed and Agression, and I still got to where I would only use Stunt cars for all the other events, even for the races. The only thing I'd ever need an Aggression car for was Road Rage, and even then they can be easily beaten with Stunt cars for the first few License upgrades.

After you get the Burnout License, you have to win every single event (there are 120 in all). The Burning Routes that you've already done will still be counted, but every other event will be reset after the Burnout License.
To get 100% you have to get Elite, find all Smashes, Super Jumps, and Billboards, set Time and Crash records on all 64 roads, and get all 20 Paradise Awards.
so as long as you do all of the regular events on the map you get the elite and the paint jobs right. I dont have to do all the records on the roads right? Just have to do the regular events including the burning roads for the Paint jobs?
There's two unlockable paint jobs: Gold and Platinum.
You get gold paint for the Elite License, which is just doing all the events.
You get platinum paint for getting 100%, which does include everything else (Road Rules, Smashes, Super Jumps, Billboards, and Paradise Awards). I hope that helps.
I'm not sure what you mean, but yeah, before the Cagney update, these were DJ Atomica's very last words when I got the Ultimate Cars (platinum paint) and I never heard from him again until, like I said, the Cagney update.
Sony just recently came out with "Trophies," which are supposed to be like the 360's Acheivements, but not a lot of games have Trophy support yet because it's less than a month old. What you saw at 0:12 was an Award, which is something that you get in this game whether you're playing it on the PS3 or the 360. You have to get all the Awards to get 100% (which unlocks the platinum paint) but they don't carry over to your account like Trophies & Acheivements do.
Well theres gonna be a trophy patch for it, and i reckon its gonna do what uncharted drakes fortune did, which is use the in game acheivements like paradise has and have trophies exactly the same.
Yeah I hope that's what they do. And as I understand, Burnout Paradise is locked to the hard drive, so unlike Uncharted, I won't have to replay everything for the Trophies. Any idea when the Burnout Trophy patch is supposed to be out?
No, you don't. You only have to get HALF of everything again for the Trophies. And I already did that, too. See my video called "3 Platinum Trophies" (BP was my 3rd).
For the Trophies you only need half the Smash Gates, half the Super Jumps, half the Billboards, and you only need the Burnout License, not the Elite License. Plus you don't have to set all the Road Rules.

No, the new island isn't available yet. And I've been so busy replaying Metal Gear Solid 4 that I haven't even downloaded the Cagney update, which has new vehicles and like 70 new challenges.
I have a problem. I got my Elite License at around 92%. I then did all the road rules, got all the smashes, billboards, and jumps and the cars that you unlock. This is where the problem happened I did not get 100%. I only have 99%. I read the description of the Criterion Elite award and I don't understand why its not complete. The only car that I don't have is the Carbon Ubershall, but technically you don't have to get that car. Do I really need that car for 100% or is there something I missed?
No, you definitely don't need the Carbon Uberschall, because I don't have it. I haven't played a single online challenge, but the Carbon Uberschall *is* how people get 101%.
I have heard of other people having the exact same problem as you describe (doing everything but only getting 99%) so I think it's a glitch. What system are you on?
I have a PS3. But it's ok because I figured out what I missed. I hadn't got the 40x multiplier, but I did today so eveything alright. Now I just have to get the Carbon Ubershchall and 101%.
Check out "how to do stuntruns" on the channel of bommer15absl. And remember that driving in reverse stops the timer altogether, so matter how slow you drive, so you can always get to the Quarry without crashing or ending the combo on the way.
You have to have a PS-Eye. A normal webcam doesn't work, I tried it. When you hook up the PS-Eye it's easy to go into the options and the game tells you what to do.

Actually I just got 102% recently for completing all of the Freeburn and Timed Challenges. There was no congradulatory speech and nothing was unlocked though...

Must've took some patience, only at 101% here with the 2 sets complete. No reward for 102% so I don't feel like getting all the way there.

Yeah, at least the 101 nets you the Carbon Ubershall, but the only thing 102 does is give you the pride of having 490/490. And it does take a long time, even longer if you don't have enough people to help you out (the majority of online players just like to goof off and get takedowns).

Yeah, after you get your Burnout License, every single event will reset (except of course for the Burning Routes), and then you get the Elite License when you win all 120 events. It's best to do all of the Burning Routes before getting your Burnout License, because that leaves you with fewer things to redo.

The free update on February 5th is supposed to make the game easier. Changes the way some of the cars handle (making them stronger and easier to steer) and tweaking some of the stuff in Stunt Runs and stuff...

If you play on the PS3 you can get Criterion to put on your map the things you're missing. Go to
criteriongames . com/burnout/paradise/myparadise/
and you'll see what to do.
Otherwise I'd suggest going to IGN . com and looking under Guides.

Statistically the fastest car in the game (so far) is the Carbon Hawker. It has a 10 (maximum) in both Speed and Boost.
The Carbon GT Concept, Uberschall 8, Uberschall Clear-View, Racing WTR, Walmart WTR, PCPD Special, and Carbon X12 all tie for second, with an average of 9.5 for the Speed and Boost columns.

I chose the Opus XS for my final Marked Man event because it has 9 points for Speed, 6 points for Boost, and most importantly 7 points for Strength. This totals 22 out of 30, and of all the Stunt cars, the only one with a higher average is the Carbon X12, and no other Stunt car scores higher in Strength. There is no such thing as "the worst car in game" or "the best car in the game." It's a personal preference. Everyone handles the cars differently.

Because Stunt cars handle turns better. I've beaten every Burning Route, so I've had my share of driving experience with both Speed and Agression, and I still got to where I would only use Stunt cars for all the other events, even for the races. The only thing I'd ever need an Aggression car for was Road Rage, and even then they can be easily beaten with Stunt cars for the first few License upgrades.

After you get the Burnout License, you have to win every single event (there are 120 in all). The Burning Routes that you've already done will still be counted, but every other event will be reset after the Burnout License.
To get 100% you have to get Elite, find all Smashes, Super Jumps, and Billboards, set Time and Crash records on all 64 roads, and get all 20 Paradise Awards.

so as long as you do all of the regular events on the map you get the elite and the paint jobs right. I dont have to do all the records on the roads right? Just have to do the regular events including the burning roads for the Paint jobs?

There's two unlockable paint jobs: Gold and Platinum.
You get gold paint for the Elite License, which is just doing all the events.
You get platinum paint for getting 100%, which does include everything else (Road Rules, Smashes, Super Jumps, Billboards, and Paradise Awards). I hope that helps.

Sony just recently came out with "Trophies," which are supposed to be like the 360's Acheivements, but not a lot of games have Trophy support yet because it's less than a month old. What you saw at 0:12 was an Award, which is something that you get in this game whether you're playing it on the PS3 or the 360. You have to get all the Awards to get 100% (which unlocks the platinum paint) but they don't carry over to your account like Trophies & Acheivements do.

Well theres gonna be a trophy patch for it, and i reckon its gonna do what uncharted drakes fortune did, which is use the in game acheivements like paradise has and have trophies exactly the same.

No, you don't. You only have to get HALF of everything again for the Trophies. And I already did that, too. See my video called "3 Platinum Trophies" (BP was my 3rd).
For the Trophies you only need half the Smash Gates, half the Super Jumps, half the Billboards, and you only need the Burnout License, not the Elite License. Plus you don't have to set all the Road Rules.

No, the new island isn't available yet. And I've been so busy replaying Metal Gear Solid 4 that I haven't even downloaded the Cagney update, which has new vehicles and like 70 new challenges.

I have a problem. I got my Elite License at around 92%. I then did all the road rules, got all the smashes, billboards, and jumps and the cars that you unlock. This is where the problem happened I did not get 100%. I only have 99%. I read the description of the Criterion Elite award and I don't understand why its not complete. The only car that I don't have is the Carbon Ubershall, but technically you don't have to get that car. Do I really need that car for 100% or is there something I missed?

No, you definitely don't need the Carbon Uberschall, because I don't have it. I haven't played a single online challenge, but the Carbon Uberschall *is* how people get 101%.
I have heard of other people having the exact same problem as you describe (doing everything but only getting 99%) so I think it's a glitch. What system are you on?

I have a PS3. But it's ok because I figured out what I missed. I hadn't got the 40x multiplier, but I did today so eveything alright. Now I just have to get the Carbon Ubershchall and 101%.

Check out "how to do stuntruns" on the channel of bommer15absl. And remember that driving in reverse stops the timer altogether, so matter how slow you drive, so you can always get to the Quarry without crashing or ending the combo on the way.

You have to have a PS-Eye. A normal webcam doesn't work, I tried it. When you hook up the PS-Eye it's easy to go into the options and the game tells you what to do.
