Can anyone confirm if it's the TV or the hard drive that is able to dispay the thumbnail/movie covers like in this video? i.e. Can I buy a WD external hd and hook it up to any tv to achieve this? (providing I have included the image in the folder of the movie files etc. etc.) Or does it depend on the television? i.e. in this case a western digital tv?
Is it possible to do this with any other tvs and external hds? If anyone knows, shoot me a reply. Thanks.
hi. is that a WD My Book Essential Hard drive you have? Im thinking of getting it, im just concern if it is compatible with the WD Live. Hope you can reply. Thanks.
i take an external hard drive transfer all my movies to it then i hook up that drive to a Medea player like the wd live player and i hook up the medea player to my tv !!!
You just use the external hard drive and no media player?! Or you do hook up a hard drive to your media player and then your media player to your tv? I have been wanting to do this for a while and just haven't figured out the best way. I am looking to put about 800 dvd's and about 50 blu-ray movies into something like this so it it easier to access a movie.
@Rocky2k you rip your movie to a folder you name the folder the name of the movie then once you have your movie in that folder you get the dvd or blu ray cover art and save it to that same folder and name the cover art folder.jpeg then when you hook up that drive to a western digital player make sure in setting you have it on thumbnail view and make sure you select the folder view not videos view and it will work !!!
To get the artcover for each movie you can use metabrowser just look for older versions so you don't have to pay for it, or you can use thumbgen is a program used to make sheets for wdtv just select that you want thumbs only and no the sheets, or mymovies have a program you can use to get artcovers for each movie you just need to have each movie in folder
@palino3356 I don't know, but I'd think that he's put all the films in their own folder and carried out a google image search for the film title. The picture that you think looks the best as dvd art, right click and copy. Paste into a programme such as MS Paint and save as a JPEG in the same folder as that film. It's easy and free but will take a very long time if you have a lot of films.
Hi, I'm just trying to use my dinky 250GB external HDD in conjunction with my television, and I was wondering if you could tell me what file format it needs to be for the tv to recognize it....because currently the tv in my loungeroom will not communicate with the hard drive.
Thank You for your help! Wow I would love to get that with all those movies!!! but times are hard right now! but i'll keep it in mind, thank you again.
i use google image search and save the picture as folder.jpg in the same folder as the movie ! i use xilsoft dvd ripper i like it the best !! you can ask anything its not a problem i dont mind helping out !!!
