Faith is believing in what you cannot see. For some people the Bible is enough evidence and for others more evidence is needed. In either case there is plenty of biblical and non-biblical evidence to support the deity of Jesus Christ. And with our technology today, this information is at our fingertips. I think the important thing here is that we not force our faith on those that don't believe. Forcing anyone to believe the Bible, or anything for that matter, does not produce a genuine faith.
There is purposely no evidence put here by God because God judges us on Faith. And if there was evidence the challenge of faith would be deemed worthless. Without faith you cannot approach God. Read the book of Romans, where you will find numerous passages stressing this most important part of Christianity (1:17; 3:28; 4:5; 11:20, etc.).

Cubikman, your reasoning is specious. Jesus was a teacher using hyperbole. Elsewhere in Matthew he says to pluck out your eye and cut off your hand if they make you sin (5:29-30)—nobody in their right mind ever expected these words to be taken literally. But they teach a valuable lesson on God's view of the severity of sin (as do blood-for-sin animal sacrifices of the old testament).

And yes all things are POSSIBLE with God, but many things are not PLAUSIBLE. God's most likely not going to give you a flesh and blood leg, but he COULD if he wanted to. And he's always providing strength for the individual in pain—should they humble themselves to take Him up on the offer. Certainly losing one's leg is a traumatic experience, and while God might not regenerate a living limb, he may provide that person with a prosthetic.

Cubikman, I don't believe in the veracity of the Bible just because it is in print. I believe it because it stands up to critical scrutiny as a historical text. It has internal coherence (fundamental doctrines line up from book to book), eyewitness accounts, external corroboration (histories written around the same time verify Jesus' amazing deeds), and has been miraculously preserved through the last 2000 years. I can't begin to fit all the reasons here. Look it up, dig deep.

Cubikman, in Mark 11:24 Jesus was stressing the importance of faith in God (in Him the Son, AND Him the Father, and He the Holy Spirit—all parts of the whole of God). Without faith you cannot approach God. Read the book of Romans, where you will find numerous passages stressing this most important part of Christianity (1:17; 3:28; 4:5; 11:20, etc.).

that is assuming that the amputee would be a better person with two legs (which is what i would guess god's ultimate goal is). i find that the people that i know that have disadvantages are FAR stronger in their will and understanding of others then those who are not 'disadvantaged'. i don't mean to come across as saying 'they're better off', but the payoff in having a greater heart is something to consider...

absolutely nothing is wrong with asking for any of those things. the big heart tearing problems (like world hunger) don't have an easy answer, and an honest christian would probably say 'i don't know' when confronted with a 'why?'. it's god that is perfect, not him followers (obviously)

nothing wrong with a good challenge, but WHY are you putting forth a challenge in the first place? are miracles required? the miracles were never center stage in the life of jesus, they were proofs of who and what he was. forget jesus followers-do you believe in his life or not? you must confront the life and words of jesus. presumably smarter men (the pharasees of the new testament) were confronted with miracles, and they had jesus killed anyway.

in the verse that you quoted below, it does not indicate anger. if there is no anger indicated, then then there must be another motivation. it may have been a show of power, but not without a reason. if jesus is who he says he is, then to perform this act would demostrate mastery of the natural world to his followers.

I will pray for you, but the will to move toward God will have to be entirely yours. the first thing (if you're willing) is to ask God to show up in a way you can understand. for me (keep in mind, i'm a born humorist) it was, 'God,I'm not that smart. please show up in a way that i can understand AND in a way that i will actually notice.' Keep your mind wide open cubikman. God rarely fits into our percecption of him and what he will do.

IF jesus is real, then is it possible that they were aware of him and were comforted? we'll never know. if there is unending life after death, and if there is a jesus, the manner of leaving life (while still important) would become a lesser point.

Highly dubious -yes - its crazy! God becoming a man for our sake... but what if its true? It's worth more than anything to find out for yourself. In fact if He is real - simply asking Him to show Himself to you is the logical step. That's where the rubber meets the road - and you take a step of faith. What's the risk? You would have gained the whole world... if its true - and lost nothing if its not. Ask Him sincerely.

Oh, C, if you're not willing to use the Bible, then you might try the 1st-2nd century writings of Clement of Rome, Polycarp, Tertullian, Dionysius of Corinth, Origen, Josephus, Lucian of Samosata, Mara Bar-Serapion and Tacitus. There you'll find record of Jesus' miracles. (Strobel Case for The Real Jesus, p. 113, 120)
