Every time you see a verse speaking about punishment, you will find before or after it a verse speaking about rewards and paradise. The same goes for the verses speaking about paradise, the verse before or after it will be speaking about punishment. Like the wings of a bird, one of fear of the punishment, and one of hope. Without either of them you will not 'fly' successfully.
