Ummm, .DXF and newer versions .DWG will open with almost anything and yes even TurboCad. So a little confused not compatible. Turbocad support lousy? Well I've used it and there forums and had no problems. Video teaching aids? Like any other program, you have to purchase it seperately or in a bundle. Sounds to me like you couldnt figure out how to use it. As far as im concerned and having used both programs, I like Turbocad alot better.
TurboCAD is much cheaper than AutoCAD (its top of the line configuration is $1495 list), but AutoCAD has better integration of key commands instead of using a mouse. TurboCAD can read and write AutoCAD's DWG format better than most other software.
