aaaarrrrrrrrrrr, am gonna try and get used to beatmatching like that. will it make me faster because somtimes i get quite worried that my track is going to run out before iv got the track in?
great tips ur giving - thx 4 the up ~ please tell me the song in this video u are mixing from - the one with the POSITVA label on it - ive been searching that for years - only have it as mp3 and DEF need the vinyl - thanks in advance and mix on ~ ;-)
The headphones are for previewing the next song your going to play, while one track is playing you can hear the next one your going to play privately without the crowd hearing it.
your videos are an essential learning tool in getting down these basics... you've done an awesome job mate! p.s. i really want to know the name of the track on the right deck... has a funky vocal hook :P care to share?
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! everytime i mix dnb i do what you say with the decreasing the tempo thing but i can never find the precise point where the records will stay at the same speed, so i have to keep adjustng the tempo. How do i know where that precise point is?
Man i`m mixxing like 2 years but your vids helped me alot .... didn`t knew that u as a dj can mix 2 song onli with the pitch without + , - (the buttons underneath the pitch)
Excellent stuff. I used to mix by recueing the record and pissing about with the platter; slowing it and stopping it. I picked up your method well, which is a lot better. Thanks.
I have never seen instruction vids who are so good explained like these ones.
This really helped me a lot and finally, I understand the basics of mixing music. Other vids show how to scratch and stuff, but these ones are perfect.
I just invested a significant amount of money in to my equipment because I have always had a passion for music and DJing. I was so confused and thought that I made the worst investment of my life when I got my equipment. These videos have helped me dramatically its only been 3 hours since I watched your first video for beginners and I have already been able to actually make something sound good.
I cannot thank you enough for your hard work and dedication towards helping new DJ's get started along their musical paths. Again I would just like to say thank you and please continue your magnificent work. Very well dune and thank you so much.
can't post urls, but search for juno or htfr (if you're in UK)
though i normally buy mine from ebay, you can get some nice collections of records that end up being really cheap. only trouble is you can end up with 2 of the same record...
you are really helpful as usual, you make it seems so easy but indeed it`s quiet hard to get this sense of time and as you used to say the practice will do the rest.thanks johnathan you are truly a gifted dj...just and idea could you do a video in which you mix trance material...I`m into this kind of music and I`ll love to see you mastering and teaching how to create nice mixes in that particular style.
man, you're the best. this just solved all my problems. i have successfully made my first mix. before watching your videos i was totaly lost. i watched this video and now it all came to me.
i mix hardcore and makina which plays up to 180bpm so this may be why. if u used your method the tunes would be all over the place with double beats. also for mixing makina you often have to start a tune and have it in the mix from the first push so theres no time to beat match using your method otherwise every1 who is listening could hear how bad it sounds.
i find its faster to get the tunes pitched if u give it a push or pull right at the beginning instead of moving the pitch up and down and having to wait for it to get in line.
Thanks for your comments!!!, I find through my experience that if you practice using any method you will get good at it, you seem to know your method very well so keep it up!! all the best Johnathan
Hey, technics mk 5, on deck one the cartridge is dragging slightly on the records, can that slow the platter down that much? My needles are bustid! Any recommendations on a good pair of needles? Nice 1
try altering ya weight & put ya tone arm higher to bout 3 nhalf ,,, it wouldnt slow down ya record tho,, stanton 500s are good n affordable iv been skratchin with mine for over a yr n there still goin on strong,,
Tried that, its worked. Nice 1 ;) What needles are you using on yr stantons? I watched the bpm vid earlier and that'll help me wivma pitch situation, am gonna spend the next couple of days counting bpms :P
cool. i heard the shure m447s r supposed to be the sh*t. may need to rely on christmas funds to get me some of those though!! thanks for responding a hepling out a fellow deej. must ask though, why looney as a name??
yer they are good but stantons are only bout 20 pound each most clubs iv played in have had them ,,, lol thats not my dj name i jus called it me on a pi**ed up day baffeld me self :D
Great vids! What happens with me is the tunes will be synced for a good few bars, after the breakdown they go slightly out again, to rectify, i'll make finer adjustments (which usually go out) or over compensate on the pitch at the beginning of the mix and the mix goes out at the beginning ARGGGH!!!
Is there a place on the pitch where both tunes will sync together perfectly throughout the mix? Can you possibly do a small film on fine tuning? It would be a great help!!!
i asked this on another video. but im new here and dont know how to go back and check out the answer. But, can you post a video on dropping on the 1. i am confused about this
AWESOME HELPED GREATLY!!! Couldnt agree more with *Renonymous*. You are like the MUSIC PROFFESSOR of YOUTUBE! "the car method" was explained so perfectly that when my mix goes off beat i say to myself, "damn the car must have passed me!"
Your method on beatmatching using ONLY the pitch control makes so much sense, i was able to beat match right away! Pushing the record and dragging the platter may look cool but it is not nearly as efficient. I feel like I have gained more experience in one day from watching your videos than in the entire 6 months I have been spinning! thank you!
yay, hair! :D
