  • My sister contracted viral meningitis by swimming in volcanic thermo pools.. She didn't sneeze or cough, just got dizzy, high temperature and throw up until it was gald bladder juice..

  • It's terrible...

  • I contracted bacterial meningitis from the hospital nursery right after i was born..the long term damages of the illness that i have are hearing loss, learning disabilities, rls and epilepsy AS WELL AS OTHER THINGS. am i thrilled about going through life like this?? HELL NO

  • i have had meningitis

  • 00:23 So viral is less common, but bacterial is more rare. Interesting.

  • its not treated with meningococcal vaccine, it is prevented and that is only the strain we have vaccine for (Men C)

treatment is with antibiotics, anti-virals or anti-fungals

fungus can also be a cause (rare) of meningitis.

  • Viral is the MOST COMMON!!

  • what is meningitis B ?

  • @barnns11 es meningitis bacteriana

  • LOL, this is so wrong, and these comments, what are you guys talking about.

  • my son as well. he is healthy and perfect - but lost his hearing...

  • Don't ever think it can't happen to you. I would rather not take my chances. My sisters friend dies last week of meningitis. She was 19.

  • Fml

  • We did the glass test and the rash was still there.

  • My little sister had Meningitis. It's just one of those things were you have got to get to the hospital before it gets even worse. My sister is still alive and well. But if we wasn't as early, we could have lost her. I remember just laying there in bed, crying because i knew that she could have died but then remembered that she is in good hands at the hospital.

It brings tears to my eyes when i think back to that dark time.

  • my little boy caught this he lost his finger tips on 1 hand and both his limbs 2 year ago but he is a brave little boys and nothing will stop him. He is 4 years old now

  • I had meningitis when I was 6 months old and now I'm deaf in my right ear... :/

  • @Dxthegod I'm sorry about that. :(

I had meningitis when I was 8. The doctor was actually surprised when I didn't lose any of my senses. However, sometimes I suspect that I developed Asberger-like symptoms as a result of this disease. I have a somewhat normal life with friends and dating and all, but I'm very noticeably different socially. My closes friends joke and call me Rain Man in a friendly way or call me sociopathic due to my behavior.

It's quite interesting how this disease changed us!

  • my nephew had this and survived with all his limbs...

  • @wendy84116

So did I !!! Tell your nephew to thank God, because he is the only reason he's still living.

  • SI PUDIERAS PASAR MAS LENTAMENTE LOS TEXTOS ESTARÍA SUPER BIEN !!

    GRACIAS DE TOSOS MODOS

    FUE BUENA LA INTENCION !!

  • you can also get meningitis from a parasite but it is very rare, and it is much much worse

  • no kissing, hugging,or close content?what do i have to do live in isolation?!

  • @trollsrawsome get a vaccination. even then it's not 100% preventable. A week ago friend lost her husband due to complications caused by bacterial meningitis. His wife is 6 months pregnant with their first child. Get the vaccine. It's a little pricey but nothing compared to the price of a week in ICU with max life support.

  • Thank you for making this informative video. There is now a vaccine for the viral form. All parent should have their kids vaccinated. Thanks for spreading the word.

  • i have this. thats y im lookin it up on my sis brofile. im only 12. am i gonna die? im scared

  • im12also and i have an annoying neck pain as well as swollen lymph nodes.idk if i have it or not.

  • if you had this you'd be in E.R. not on youtube

  • @0GSX Thats not true, I just went to the doctor. Its' not that serious

  • @0GSX Thats not true, I just went to the doctor. Its' not that serious, but mine is the viral kind

  • I always wondered, if the risk is overwhelmingly to babies *under* 1 year, why do they give the meningitis C shot at 1 year, when the risk has passed? What does this accomplish?

In my age group I have about 3x the risk of catching meningitis as my 2-year-old son does, yet I am not worried about getting it myself and no-one is pushing vaccines for adults. Where is the logic?

  • an infant's immune system is not developed well enough to handle a vaccine. if dr's were to give a child under the age of one year the vaccine for meningitis, they would more than likely contract it rather than be vaccinated against it. ALL vaccines have dead/dying cells of the disease they vaccinate against in order for your body to create antibodies towards it. however, an infant that young cannot produce antibodies. thus, they are not given the vaccine

  • Thank God my son survived his vaccines.

I hope he doesn't get cancer from those 'immortal' aka neoplastic cell lines they injected him with. If I had another child, there is no way I would vaccinate them, knowing what I know now.

  • @thetruthergirls

Where did you get this information?

  • @LittleEmoBoy001 From the FDA. Look it up. PER-C6 cells and other immortal cell lines. If the substrate causes tumors in immune deficient mice, they still use it.

The vaccine made from the substrate is never tested for its ability to cause cancer or impair fertility. Look it up- it's right on the package insert!

  • @thetruthergirls

So you would rather he died from the meningitus?

  • @LittleEmoBoy001 Those are not the optons. Meningitis is a rare disease, the vaccine is given at 1 year, when the chid's risk is actually lower than that of a person in their 20's, and the vaccine is for meningitis C, when men B is the most common form of viral. And viral meningitis is the less serious kinnd, can be treated at home. there is no vaccine for bacterial meningitis, what you see in this video. 'Take vaccine or die of meningitis' is the fear tactic used to sell the vax.

  • @thetruthergirls

The literature says the chances go down as you get older and that children are most susceptible to the bacterial form.

  • @LittleEmoBoy001 For viral, the risk is highest for babies under 1 year, then it goes down but is higher again in the teens and early 20's. And the vaccines do nothing to protect against the bacterial form.

  • @thetruthergirls

Then why do they promote it so much on college campuses? The one for the bacterial kind?

  • @LittleEmoBoy001 There IS no vaccine for the bacterial kind. What they promote on college campuses is for viral meningitis C, because young adults have an elevated risk. But it's a rare disease, rarely fatal and resolves without treatment. Why do they promote it? They make a lot of money! They scare you into thinking you need it and don't tell you about the true risks of the vaccine itself.

  • @thetruthergirls there is no vaccine for the type B only. not the other types. .

if people are at risk they should get vaccinated.could be risky but getting infected can be fatal. within sometimes hours or a few days, or damage body parts either lose hearings or be amputated... drug companies want to make money for sure, but we prefer to be healthier. we should always be grateful for what medical improvements we have now than 100 yrs before. where enormous #s of ppl died. am not scaring any 1.

  • @mariyye Meningitis B accounts for 75% of cases and most of the deaths from bacterial meningitis. The other 25% is split up between those other sub-groups. So if kids get a Men C vax, how much could it possibly accomplish? There's one meningitis death and they tell all students to get vaccinated, and odds are the vax is not even for the strain that caused that one death. They're just making money off your fear.

  • @thetruthergirls actually there is. i was running too fast in reading i jumped a line , there is one and they are working on to develop it better.which is good.Listeriosis is the real case which i hope they will find a solution for. For sure people know whats best for their lives.I'd defiantly vaccinate my kids if i have any.

  • @thetruthergirls And the vaccines with the immortal cells include ones for chickenpox, which is not a dangerous disease and has nothing to do with meningitis.

  • They are given HepB at birth, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio and Hib at 2.4 and 6 months. Also rotavirus now. And two flu sots, one at 6 months and one at 7. So are they able to handle vaccines under 1 year or not? What I heard was that they get the meningitis shot at 1 year because they don't respond to it well before that, not because they can't 'handle' it. But at 1 year, they don't need it any more than we do.

  • because the if they gave the young infant the vaccine, they're YOUNG immune system would not be strong enough to even fight off the cells in the vaccine...

    hope this helped :)
