  • We will miss those brave men who risk their lives every day and every night.

  • @3:12 / @4:07 this makes me feeling verry cold dam...

  • i am by no means an expert on the topic but some of those hoses that the ground guys are using look kind of small for the size fire they are fighting. Are they? Or am i just seeing it wrong?

  • @stabmaster27 everyone had a hose... they ranged from the ladder trucks 2 -1000 gpm nozzles to the 60 gpm booster hose... everyone was working and working hard... yes, the booster was small but the guy on the line was there and trying...

  • That's shocking! Did the worker they went in to save die aswell?

  • @djlobb no, he was saved...

  • It's sick that they didn't have a sprinkler system in the building.

Isn't there some sort of code for public buildings to install those in SC? (Not bashing SC if they don't have one)

  • @thgil567 yes there is a bldg code about sprinklers but unfortunatly this bldg was grandfathered in... its just f##### up southern politics of who you are and who you know...if a different person owned the building maybe they would have been forced to put sprinklers in...i dont know though,,, im just an x fireman...

  • @93CFD Its not just southern states, its many states where older building are not required to have sprinklers. And contrary to belief, sprinklers will not typically totally extinguish a fire, but rather keep it small and managable to the point where occupants can escape safely and the FD can extinguish it with minimal structure damage.SO if this building hadsprinklers, the fire may only have gotten to about 20 % the sizeof this

  • What a blaze, stay safe boys. -Capt. William Billy Hutchinson, 48 -Capt. Mike Benke, 49; -Capt. Louis Mulkey, 34; -Engineer Mark Kelsey, 40; -Engineer Bradford Brad Baity, 37; -Assistant Engineer Michael French, 27; -Firefighter James Earl Drayton, 56; -Firefighter Brandon Thompson, 27, -Firefighter Melven Champaign, 46. RIP Gentlemen
  • rip stay safe

  • god bless the Charleston 9, may you watch over and protect us....

  • wow. once there was a burning bulding in my town 2. it was at nite. any who,,, did that take hours?

  • May our fallen brothers rest in peace. Knowing what happened here and just hearing the PASS alarms hurts.

  • all this for an electrical problem

  • It was not an electrical problem, but carelessly discarded smoking materials.

  • The sound of the pass device going off really sends chills down my spine.

  • did any one read the niosh report on this fire

  • The final NIOSH report has not been issued. The Routley report has, and will tell you everything we all already knew.

  • we have the niosh report at our station

  • It is my understanding that a preliminary report was issued at the request of the City of Charleston. It was done against NIOSH's wishes because it was incomplete. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I find nothing about the official report on the NIOSH website.

    Thanks.

  • my fault we only have the draft report. sorry about that

  • No harm Brother. Been waiting for it myself. Stay Safe

  • The owners of the sofa super store should have installed a sprinkler system, It would have cost a nothing ccompared to

what it cost everyone in the city of Charleston,

  • God bless the 9 firefighters that were lost,

Rest in peace, The sofa store should have had

a fire preplan in effect, Also from all the

videos i have seen the chief officers should

have read the heavy black coming for the`store

meaning, ( IT WAS GOING TO FLASHOVER ANYTIME) Michael Massari Chief Officer RFD

  • i agree but u cant really predit that it would be that bad

  • God grant them peace...

  • Major structure fire, NO LDH visible?!!!! 2/12 supply lines??? Bless their souls...

  • I know man, I heard they used booster lines for the interior attack....god bless our brothers...

  • I know the material furniture is made of is very flammable. But the fire very rapidly.I wonder if the firesprinkler system was functioning properly

  • It was an older building, and it had no fire sprinkler sytem.

  • There was no sprinkler system, it was a fairly old building and did not legaly have to install them

  • thats bull shit

  • no at that time they did LEGALY have to instal them
