Beside the phone being extremely sluggish, I had problems with error messages on the 5.0 software. My WiFi, MP3 Player, and Internet Browser all stopped working at once. 5.0 does not fix call quality on this phone either (if you have bad call quality). Instead of getting another replacement this time, I just re-installed the Blackberry 4.6 Operating System myself. Phone works as it should now. Even better than the very first phone I had with 4.6 on it.

Little piece of advice for everyone. When/if you get a replacement phone now, watch out for the new 5.0 software they are shipping this phone out with now. It is not compatible with the phone. It runs very slow. I went through 4 phones with the 5.0 on it. Nothing but problems. As far behind todays technology as the 4.6 software is, it works a LOT better than the 5.0 does. At least for this phone.

@reganandbren I own several cell phone stores. My advice is try him on boost non contract $50. No tax. He can use bb 8350i. But iden service is the last choice. I am in mexico and my blackberrynextel is from the us so when i want to use the phone it will cost more, so i just use nextel which i dont have problems besides in my city eveyone has nextel my family and other people that i dont know but when i am in the us i can use cellphone with regular money per minute and nextel it is the same nextel in all north america is great its signal

@Tiangisbarato Also by blackberry messenger it works and the browser is cool , i can watch videos on youtube and download an app for facebook, also the camera is great i can handle it great music you can also put in so you can enjoy , when i flew to europe nextel and the cellphone service didn't function but the blackberry messenger works where theres wifi , and i know this because out of my 5 family members (including me) have this nextel except for my mom.

@renzobmxer No. The 8350i runs on the iDEN network, not Sprint's CDMA network, so there's no 3G. You'll be getting EDGE (1X) speeds on the 8350i at best. The only 3G capable iDEN phone I'm aware of is the Motorola ic902 (one of the rare PowerSource phones), and that's because it uses both CDMA and iDEN radios, using Sprint for 3G and iDEN for Push to Talk.

@brendalee14 you use 'compose mms' on these phones for txting. if you are using boost you need the boost combine3 file loaded on to the phone w BB manager. if you cant text after that you have an IT policy that has to be removed.

well i have the everything data plan family sharing plan (with my dad) but they just changed the prices because of getting the pixi i guess because my plan is only 100 a month for both of us but i just looked at the plans and its like 70 a month for individual everything and data (450 minutes) and im about to trade my phone in for this one (cant stand the pre lol)

I live in Mexico. I don't know if the same applies in the US, but when you use the browser or BB messenger calls and alerts don't go through... It might just be that the mexican branch of nextel needs to invest more in infrastructure so that users have a channel for data and a channel for voice... Do you get calls when you are using the browser??

Yes, you can. You will not get a discount if your contract is not up though. I got 50 bucks off for adding another year though. If you go from sprint to nextel, you keep your same phone number and you get the direct connect number as well.
