CAN ANYONE PLEASE INFORM ME ABOUT DE TYPE OF THE FIREWORKS USED,HOW MAY I ASSEMBLE THEM AND THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL,HOW TO BRING THIS TYPE OF DISPLAY TO RIO DE JANEIRO,BRAZIL FOR OUR NEW YEAR'S EVE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
@Dales7inch aint funny man trust me you have no clue has awesome this show is unless you see it in person ie seen everyone of them since 1994 i should know!
exactly thats why i love it down there, for the detroit fireworks the evening broadcast is for the fireworks events and the late night broadcast is for the murders and shootouts that happend that night.
i hope it comes soon im only 12 and ive gone every year since i was born same with the baloon race i love living in louisville even if people cant say it rite i went to churchill downs when i was 7 days old and have gone at least 200 more times since then
Oh I know! I can't wait to see that jet blow through Louisville. I hope they fly more than just one. In 1997 they had two doing high speed passes over the waterfront. All I need is some F-16's, F-18's, Tornadoes, and a B1B Lancer to make my day...well up until the fireworks atleast! ;)
Yeah! We currently have an F-16, and F-15E Strike Eagle Demo Signed up, and a USAF Heritage Flight with the F-16 and F-15E above, with the F-4 Phantom and P-51 Mustang.
Do you know how many F-16's will be there? Man I was in heaven during the parade of barges when those 4 were flying around with their afterburners lit!
The two planes I've been missing from the airshows of old have been the Lancer and Nighthawk. Those are some bad aircraft!
I am salivating right now! I'll finally get to see an AV8 in person. I wasn't able to see it when it came to Thunder in 98. I really can't wait to get back out on the waterfront to see one of the best airshows, as well as the best firework show in the world! Our group isn't taking any chances this year, we are planning on taking our spot on the Thursday before thunder lol.
You know I completely forgot that they flew by. But I remember that now. I was kinda mad they didn't hover for a bit lol. But since it was just a flyby I forgave it! Do keep me updated on the airshow info. That's really interesting info to hear about.
...but is it just of the fireworks? :-/ I'm like 10% interested in the fireworks and 90% interested in the airshow. I wish the stations airing the actual airshow + fireworks made copies of the broadcasts, it wouldnt be hard.
Yeah it's just of the fireworks. The news stations keep them in their archives for a couple of years so Fox41 probably does have it. I don't know how much they charge though (you can find out on their website) but WHAS11 was charging like 30 dollars for one tape so I don't know....
the number of people depends on the weather. 850 000 people came to this year's thunder simply because the WEATHER was PERFECT for thunder over louisville. I thought 1 million would be on the riverfront that day, and i am somewhat surprised that we didn't have a million people on the riverfront that day.
Well you have to think, the river took away a good chunk of spaces in waterfront park and the warf. Man, what a show it was this year, the finale was amazing!

Well, Normally the "Racers" from the 181st in Terre Haute Normally flyby with 4, then we have a USAF Demo F-16 (West Coast Demo Team/ Viper West)
The Nighthawk is being retired by April of 08, so probably a small chance of that flying over.
We also have a Marine's AV8 Harrier Display added. Including the Trojan Horsemen, Lima Lima, and Bill Left's Night show in his T-6

Hehe! I go with a friend of mine normally, I"ve gone since 06. This will be my third time. I"ll keep you updated on displays.
This year's theme is "Thunder, out of this world" where it features a B-2 Spirit on the front page, so there's a change of that being a flyover.
We had two harriers do some small unplanned display for us in 07, that was pretty cool.

A guy that works with the Zambelli's puts out DVDs of the show. They are EXTREMELY good quality and worth every penny. Just go to: davidwevans . net
