Gruberova really does sound terrible here, and I say this as a fan of hers. She has another, much better "Giudici" here on YouTube.
I was not familiar with Hayashi ... what a find!
Kim doesn't do much for me, but Ricciarelli's is an involving performance (despite the poor sound), and the Stapp/Molese high D was very exciting. Theodissou also, very nice.
and thanks for all of your wonderful videos. I've been an avid opera fan for about a decade, and your videos have introduced me to many singers I might not have otherwise come across.

Thank you very much, I have already seen the video of " Coppia iniqua " and I had put a comment in French which said: " the presence of Katia Ricciarelli on stage is always magic, it's every time a deeply moving embodiment, she glorifies all that she sings. She's beautiful and magnificent, she's a great diva! "
If I were Henry VIII I would have condemned Gruberova to death at the end of act I.

@giant469 LOL. Yeah, that high note was über flat. I'd call it a high D...but it wasn't.

High notes or no high notes? No high notes, please, if there's Gruberova singing -- I'm still shocked...

Madam Ricciarelli is divine and so beautiful, what an incredible silhouette!
It's not important if there isn't high note, it's a real embodiment!

classic opera acting for the one after gruberova! hahaha.

All forgettable in this scene, even the gifted Gruberova, who is not only flat, but also totally lost.

Edita was on her knees, unlike the sopranos in the other examples...give her a break! sure she was flat at first, but she worked it out! =D
Olivia Stapp actually stands up to hit the high note. LOL!
Great video!
This aria definitely needs the high note! Third and fourth clips cop out! If Caballe can do it, no one singing this role should skip it!
Dimitra should have skipped it. It was very pinched!
