Schwarzwald's speech was like the one in " V For Vendetta ". I just viewed the clip of that, now I want to rent the movie. Big O is not your typical anime. Adult Swim needs to bring it back ( in reruns, at least ).

It wasnt a "virtual" reality. It was a reality authored by Gordon Rosewater using Big Venus. The current reality in the show only consisted of one city because Gordon's previous attempt at constructing reality when awry and had to be deleted. Even so Roger's reality was incomplete and pieces left from the pasts because Gordon had become old and senile by the time he created the current reality.

It still blew my mind when I found out the voice actor for Schartzwald is the same guy that did the early voice acting for Kel'Thuzad in Warcraft 3/WoW *and* the voice of Asteroth in the Soul Caliber series. Really talented guy.

Incidentally, each of the Bigs corresponds to a Beast in the book of Job: Big O is Behemoth, Big Fau is Leviathan and Big Duo is Ziz. The Book of Job predicts that the Behemoth will battle the Leviathan at the end of the world. The Leviathan archtype we see in this episode is just a red herring. Schwartzwald is actually predicting the battle between Big O and Big Fau at the end of the series.
