interesting bands outside of the mainstream or conventional ideas of pattern: the locust, arab on radar, fantomas, etc. i've been listening to the new battles record, which is amazing. dillinger did all the good stuff that can be done with complicated music on calculating infinity. even radiohead is more interesting than this stuff. this music is just as formulaic as anything else: start off in one signature, change halfway through the verse, breakdown, repeat.
