@mn3ei The optic is very good for this type of lens. But it does require a lot of light for it to focus quickly indoor. Then again, it's typical for this type of lens (even from other brands).
@lokingloking it has much faster focusing and full-time manual focus override. I've never tried it (I'm Canon user) so I can't speak for the optics, but there's likely many compromises as this lens has. It does have f5.6 which makes it faster and more reliable to focus on crop sensor cameras.
Hi, i got Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS, it looks Great, The only problem is it has an ERR01 error every time when I press the shutter, do you have any idea how to Fix it.?? i Have a Canon Xs and T2i Thanks
One thing to note, the lens emits a faint high pitched whine constantly when the camera is powered on (I have observed this in my Canon copy and a friend's Nikon copy of the lens), though this is only audible to younger users as their hearing can still pick up those kinds high frequency sounds.
Despite this, it in no way affects normal operation or performance.
Overall, I'm happy with the lens, though the AF can be a little slow at times.
I just bought the same lens..for my nikon d300s..its actually my first lens for my first dslr camera. and after seeying this video i have many questions, you mentioned the wide angle is not that good , Im looking for a good lens for wedding picture and neewborn..i was thinking about: 17-55mm nikon, 85mm nikon and 70-200 vr...which one you think will be the best for both wide and zoom? thanks!
great review pal, but i have question because I am also thinking to buy an 18-200 but i dont have a lot of money. so which one will you suggest, sigma or tamron. thanks
I bought it to replace my 18-55 and 55-200, but the quality is so bad that it's worth the inconvenience of switching between my 18-55 and 55-200 than using this!!
If you have the extra money, go with the Nikon lens. I have had a few issues with the Sigma and required sending it in for repair. Not very confident in the quality of the Sigma.
hsm = hyper sonic motor, but "high speed motor" explain it very well :D

Well for so far not a specific target. I need kind a 'allround' lens to improve myself. The Nikkor 35mm f1.8 G DX or the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 I think.
any suggests?

Always buy Nikon if you can afford it. Except for the Tokina 11-16mm, which is sharper than the 12-24mm Nikkor.

@dial2fast yet you fail to mention this in your video.
Why?

I paid $370 online new from an authorized retailer. You can watch my Part 2 video to get more info.

Nice lens! I have the Nikon 18-200 VR and I love it. You can't go wrong with the 18-200 range. Sure beats swapping lenses. Enjoy!!

Parkour4thelife 3 years ago
If you bought a Sigma without the HSM function, then your D40, D40x, D60 will not autofocus.
dial2fast 3 years ago
ahh, my new christmas present. That and a sigma 10-20 wide angle are perfect for my d40.
