  • I think the dvd is now available from eBay America. It is a Warner Bros Home Video.

  • This is very interesting. I didn't know that Ian McShane had played Heathcliff. I would enjoy seeing him in the role. I still think that Ralph Fiennes was the best Heathcliff but

the film was a bit disappointing ( Juliet Binoche was totally miscast as Cathy - I wish they had given the part to Julia Ormond who was at the height of her career at the time) The new version with James Howson may become my favourite ... ...

  • Thanks for posting this! My mum and I just got this on DVD (it took us years to find it) and in my opinion, Ian McShane has to be the best Heathcliff on film! He really did a brilliant job in developing the character from a tempestuous boy to a scheming man.

  • I have recently seen this version, and I was totally disappointed.

  • this version is now out on DVD btw.

  • THE novel, Yorkshire, Ian Mc Shane.... What else?

  • I loved this BBC version of Wuthering Heights back in 1967. I was 16, and Ian MacShane was SO hot.

  • The BBC still have a copy of the McShane version. Maybe they will show it on their archive site sometime.

Your query about generations is beyond me. maybe someone else can comment....

  • Thanks for this. I so wish I could find this version. I'd also like to see the version with Claire Bloom -- a wonderful actress. Do you know if this version covered the entire novel -- both generations?

  • Thank you so much!
