PPH always says how much they care about women, that's total BS all they want is goverenment money, they don't care about the women, that's why they're getting their asses sued off because of all the tampered documents and unreported rape cases they dealt with!
July 4, 2011, Planned Parenthood is the MOST HORRID and Wickedly EVIL Organization in AMERICA at present. And everyone who works for Planned Parenthood deserves HELL.
If you get raped it lowers the chances of you getting pregnant and having to get an abortion if you don't want to give birth to a child someone you don't know has forced you to conceive. If you have a problem actually getting your period and it comes randomly or even lasts for months at a time or with incredibly painful cramps it regulates it and lowers the pain greatly.the fact that some birth controls cost 100 + dollars isn't helping lowering abortion rates they hate abortions but make that
@rleary1 really? no one should have one? if i got pregnant and carried it to term it would be a still born or might live for a day because of my medication. also i have just as much right to NOT be christian as u have to be one. humans are hard wired to have sex and i can say that's the one normal thing i have.
@krappyjoe Hi, I was being sarcastic & have removed my comment. I'm a male & believe in choice.I'm puzzled by 'Pro-Life' people that want to bomb clinics or murder abortion Dr.s but want to 'Pray' for the Mom's that have abortions when they (in my humble opinion) are more responsible than the Dr as far as their actions. My apologies to you & I'm more spiritual than 'Christian'.I actually like/respect Muslims & all other Faiths. No one on Earth knows who the correct Diety or belief is right?
@2000yrCatholic Republicans murder shitloads of Iraqi babies. They did absolutely nothing to our country. Bush/Repubs (and chicken-sh*%) Dems have murdered over 5000 of our men now. Why not just kill them when they're born? God does not love America more than other countries. I hate to break that news to you but he doesn't help football teams win on Friday nites either.
Even if we do have to pay our own birth control expenses, as far as I'm concerned, it's the very best money I've ever spent! Thank God for Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood! Effective birth control prevents abortion. Ignorance is EVIL!
off these babies In 2009 Planned parenthood preformed a mere 134,000 abortions! Who is doing the other 866,000? You'd better be worried about ALL those small towm clinis that are doing the majority of abortion & stop picking on PP because your stupid.
What was the reporter talking about? The vast majority of insurance companies cover contraceptives. Look it up. I was/am pro-Obama, but I have to say that McCain wasn't in the wrong here; the question was bogus.
First of all "millions" are not being slaughtered, that's an exageration. Second having an abortion is not light matter, when people have then is b/c they cannot support a child at all in most cases.
Besides a woman has the right to enjoy sex just as much as a man does. That doesnt make women whores.Welcome to the 21st century!
The actual number of abortions dropped to a new low, with 1.2 million abortions in 2005, compared to a high of 1.6 million abortions in 1990.
that was off a us news article.
yeah i understand a woman can enjoy sex but she can also take preventative measures. condoms, pills, diaphragms, and all the other things that prevent pregnancy. if they fail they have the morning after pill.
if they cannot support it then give it up for adoption.
Well that's the point of this video, Mccain should support contraception 120% and his ignorance on this issue is embarrasing for a presidential hopeful.
Im glad to see that you not only support contraception but also the morning after pill (some people consider that abortion)
I dont know where you live, maybe adoption is an absolute hit where you are, but here millions (and its no exageration) of children grow to adulthood as wards of the state.I cant tell you how miserable that life is.
i support it because i know that people wont stop having sex and why should they. but abortion should never be used as a form of birth control. the kid shouldnt be punished for the parents lack of judgment.
living in california i am far from the normal liberal. i am almost 100% conservative. im not sure what the adoption rate is but after graduating high school last year hearing all the girls talking about their last abortion was really disturbing to me.
Abortion should not be the primary source of birth control but prohibiting it altogether its narrowminded, it doesnt consider the range of situations people find themselves in.
The adoption rate and foster care conditions are dismal, look into it. Sad.Specially CA.
How were they talking about it? How do you know they were telling the truth?Normally girls dont have abortions on a lark, what was the context?. Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.
well one girl was saying she doesnt understand why she still looked fat after having her abortion. another asked her how many she had and she said it was her 2nd. i heard it a lot. some talked about how they went with their boyfriends or parents and some said they never told anyone and did it alone.
That sounds to me like they were simply talking about their experiences. It's good to verbalize sentiments that are hard to deal with. That's why there's support groups for all kinds of things. Maybe the school and public health needs to get involved more agressively in diseminating BC for both girls and boys. Provide more counseling on reproduction without blaming and demonizing.
yeah i know but its alarming that there are so many young girls doing this without parental knowledge. in california we tried to pass a law that required parental consent for a minor to have an abortion but it got voted down. i mean for a minor to be able to have an abortion with out parental consent is insanity. you cant even get your ears pierced without parental consent.
Not everyone's parents are caring, loving and understanding. You'd be surprised how many parents out there will downright kill their daughters if they knew about their pregnancy. That's why that law was passed, because young girls have died at the hands of their parents, be it from botched at home abortions or downright violence.
So we should keep abortion legal if a very very small minority of parents decide that a daughter being pregnant is worse than her dying. Therefore since a few people rape women that should just be made legal as well?
The belief of having a soul is just like the belief in santa claus, is belief not based in fact and cannot be proven.
cat or tree? maybe why not, why cant cats have souls anyway?
because it is inside of the woman, is no different than a parasite, b/c it gets all nourishment and substenance from its host without providing any benefit. the woman is the one exposing her life, making the long term comittment of time and resources.
President, candidate or congressperson better have 'read up on it' if they want to purse public office.
Ever heard the term ..
Ignorance of the Law is no excuse
Well
Ignorance of the ISSUES is no excuse! We expect our legislature to be knowledgeable, that's why they get paid to sit in a public office seat that WE cast a vote in favor of.
Soooo??? What is this proving other than he hasn't read up on the said issue? I think it is great that he is being honest in saying he doesn't know about the subject. You can't expect the President or candidate to know every single issue plaguing every individual of the nation. This video is completely useless and proves nothing...
congratulations!! you won the STOOPID award for this thread.
Btw dont you need to get back to the 8th grade? you know... the health class where they teach you the basics of reproduction so you are not so ignorant on these issues..?
John (eye roller) is such an embarassment to modern women even though he chose one! Probably uses Viagra and probably made sure Cindy was on birth control when he was screwing her behind wifey's back. HA He needs to learn more about birth control?A modern-day american man?
Oh no! He didn't BS for 2 minutes, and actually tried to think out an answer based off of prior knowledge, and admitted a lack of knowledge! NOT PRESIDENTIAL! WE DON'T NEED MODESTY IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
wtf.. mccain is a dumb ass. hahhaha hahahah VIAGRA!? or BIRTHCONTROL!? yea why is it like this? health care supports viagra but not birthcontrol? thats fucked up. seems like they promote SeX. health care? && viagra what the fuck has that to do with healthCARE? it has more to do with a HEALTHY SEX LIFE. mccain needs to do al lill more resaerch on other issues besides.. WAR and $MONEY$. lol did you know mccain opposed apportion and is against PRO-CHOICE?
Because ED is an actual disorder, and brith control isn't. So it would make sense that it's covered. And the abortion argument isn't as mush of an issuse as you people think it is in this election. (I'm not saying that it is good that they aren't covering birth control, I'm just explaining why).
I was just stating "why" like my comment clearly says. This isn't that big of an issue like I said, or else McCain would have an answer. Plus, McCain never siad what his stance is on it. So.... you people are stupid for running an ad, because you could be attacking someone who supports what you support.
are you serious...?if you're running for the highest position in the American government you better have all the answers to issues that people care about.
Actually, sen. McCain voted on both bills. For viagra to be covered and for birth control not to be (separate occasions). How come he does'nt have an opinion on things he helped pass??? The whole thing is just very strange and peculiar...
oh Lord, stgianna, your a catholic. i should have looked at your page first.
well you just keep praying to mother mary (A DEAD HUMAN) to 'intercede' on your behalf w/ Jesus so he can intercede on your behalf with God the Father and maybe you'll get a pat on the head from the pope.
i watched 'lake of fire' recently. it's pretty graphic. there are 2 abortions done so one can see what happens. oddly i found myself kind of unaffected.
personally, i say it's much better to hand out birth control like it's going out of style and educate the tar out of folks. it's a proven way to reduce unwanted pregnancies. but if you think i would ever care to see a return to the days of coat hangers and back alley abortions, forget it.
Why can we legislate on things like slavery and killing a 3 year old child but not abortion. By your logic all of these circumstances can be justified. Think about what principles you base your life upon and if they are right.
This is the problem with moral relativism. the idea that every thing is OK becasue you believe it is, is false. Either there is an absolute Truth or slavery, pedaphila and other crimes are OK because that is a particular person's opinion. If you cannot show a fundamental difference between a 1year old and a 8month old then kill each is equally wrong.
In this case what you put in your body is sperm. it changes when you are pregnant since that is a human life.
I would support a Dr. providing medical support to a baby taken still alive.
I know nothing of Obama's position on this w/ regard to the IL state legislature. And it doesn't affect my voting for him anyway as McCain is so deeply on my bad side I have to go Obama.
But there is your answer. Yes, I would want the kid taken care of. I'm not a cold unfeeling person.
I just can't make decisions for other people in this context and won't. Far too personal.
You did not address what changes about the baby when it leaves your body. Does it not have soul when it is inside of you? Is it like a cat or a tree? What happens when it leaves your womb? If it is a human being with rights after it leaves your body why is not a human being with rights while it is inside of you? How is you "possessing" it making it your property different than someone possessing a human slave making that person his property? Is that OK? Why is it OK for a baby to be property.
and children are sort of a posetion: they could be given or taken away, parents demand their obedience in all things, its considered negligence on the part of the parent for the child to run amok, or not be taken cared of. Children as they grow up earn their autonomy from their parents and eventually become autonomous adults. So yeah, that's a sort of ownership.
If the baby is your property while it is inside of you do you support aborting babies to harvest their organs? A lot of people need liver transplants. Can we give women the "choice" to be impregnated and then harvest the organs of their babies after 8 1/2 months? They are just property, right? Seems like this would be a good way for the poor women of the world to make money. It is their property so why shouldn't they profit from it?
understand this is a seriously complex issue. i personally have no problem with a first trimester abortion. beyond that it gets uncomfortable for me but i will never make this choice for anyone. if the fetus/baby whatever has a soul then God will take it up to heaven. done deal. but you can't really expect a baby 81/2 months along to be taken out alive and get harvested. you're really reaching now.
So why is it not someone's "choice" to own slaves. If a a man is in my "possession", like you say your unborn baby would be, then by your logic he would be my property. Why isn't my "choice" to do what I wish with my "property"?
Some things are intrinsicly (always evil). It is always to place innocent men and women into bondage and it is always to take innocent life. Human life cannot be property.
Obama is for protecting the killing of babies and using the government to fund doing it. I don't care if McCain doesn't know a thing about birth control, though its good to know about it. At least he doesn't want to kill babies.
John Mccain has made jokes about women being raped and is against sex education for young children that can prevent pedophilia. Videos from credible networks like cnn and msnbc provide proof of how little he thinks of rape and sexual abuse.
I would imagine that the rationale between supporting health care covering Viagra but not birth control pills is that Viagra corrects an abnormal condition, whereas birth control pills suspend a normal condition.
They aren't in favor of killing the unborn (which would imply that there is an egg fertilized). They're in favor of reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies!
Artificial contraception is a Big Pharma chemical toxin drug push! Know "Thy Spinnbarkeit" and you won't need toxins to mess up your hormones, risk STDs, and let men exploit women. How dumb do you gotta get to keep buying these repugnant deceptions? Health Care is natural----get Big Pharma off your body and minds!
Birth Control does not equal Abortion...especially when half of the people on Birth Control are on it to regulate their hormones and aren't sexually active!
I was on the Ortho-Evra patch for around a year or so to regulate my period. And would you rather someone be on birth control or get pregnant and have an abortion? There IS a difference, you know.
Viagra works to prevent erectile dysfunction, birth control works to prevent pregnancy. If health insurance companies are willing to help men get it up, then the least they could do is help women prevent unwanted pregnancies.
"I would imagine that the rationale between supporting health care covering Viagra but not birth control pills is that Viagra corrects an abnormal condition, whereas birth control pills suspend a normal condition."
So in your opinion it's normal for 75 year old men to have erections? Interesting. Birth control doesn't "suspend" pregnancy, it prevents it. It's not normal either. Most of women's lives are spent being not-pregnant.
Birth control suspends fertiliy which is a normal condition.
This is why federally fudned healthcare is not good. I do not want to support any types of medication with my taxes. If I want to support this I will give money to a charity that would do it in an ethical way.
Perhaps for men, but fertility for women is optimal only about 3-4 days each month, and childbearing years are restricted by age.
More and better access to birth control means less unplanned pregnancies, which means fewer abortions. Although president Bush is pro-life the number of abortions in the US has increased under his administration. That's a bad thing.
"More and better access to birth control means less unplanned pregnancies"
40% of unplanned pregnancies occur to people who are contracepting. Unplanned pregnancies have only increased with the increase availability/education of contraception.
" number of abortions in the US has increased under his administration."
That happens everywhere in the world because you not only have to give the people the tools for contraception: you have to teach them how to use them. Politicians, everywhere, sell this sex education thing in an incomplete way.
RU-486 is quietly terminating pregnancies and the Washington Post article dated Jan 22, 2008 claims they contribute to approximately 14% of terminations. So those figures don't make it into the surgical procedure stats.
I don't know where this leaves us but I'm grateful to the makers of that little pill.
It's a simple answer to a complex problem and makes the situation far less complicated for women.
We should always look for easier ways to end human life. We don't want the conscience of the doctors to get in the way of a woman ending the life of her child. Murdering your own child should be your own choice.
while it's inside my body yes. it's MY property. your argument is apples and oranges to me. a living person outside the womb is another story and HAS rights. i don't support the death penalty for anything. well...cept maybe for pres bush, the war criminal.
When does the baby cease to be your property and become a human being? When it is removed from your body? When it is not in your possession. What fundamental thing changes about the baby when to cease's to be your property and becomes a human being? If nothing happens then you saying it is your property is your opinion and not objective Truth.
150 years ago some people considered other people property when they possessed them. Is this where you get your logic?
You are correct. The surgical abortion has decreased. But RU-486 makes these numbers suspect. Physicians can discreetly prescribe this magnificent pill.
It is estimated that it accounts for 14% of terminated pregnancies.
I don't care to do the math on this but if you added 14% to your decreased figure you'd have an approximate idea of where we are statistically.
Baloney. My health insurance company covers birth control devices, but not Viagra.
My health insurance company also covers abortion-on-demand. Planned Parenthood's decision to criticize health insurance companies (and the money they pay to Planned Parenthood) is a poor idea.
I can't believe PUMA voters are falling for McCain's total exploitation & manipulations of your feelings. McCain is just like that man that will use until he gets what he wants and then move onto the next.
McCain DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU or Clinton issues! Look at the rape joke McCain told, Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, birth control rights, calling Cindy a c*unt, etc.
As quickly as you cast your vote for McCain...he will drop you like he dropped his ex-wife for a younger/richer Cindy.
McCain can't answer this question because he knows that the wacko Christian right wants all birth control to be illegal. But the vast majority of Americans use birth control to plan their families, so they want insurance companies to cover it. So McCain either ticks off the crazy sex haters who make up the Republican base, or his offends the vast normal majority who see nothing wrong with enjoying sex and using birth control. Hence the hemming and hawing. It sucks to kowtow to the right.
The issue is if insurance companies of birth control or Viagra. That has nothing to do with the role of the president. If you want an insurance company to pay for birth control, then get an insurance plan that covers birth control. If you want an insurance company to pay for Viagra, then get an insurance plan to cover Viagra. Lets keep politics out of this.
No McCain is against the insurance companies being fair to people of both sexes. Its fine for Bob Dole to get Viagra to get his dick up but not for the average woman who wants to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. Where is the sense in that?
abortion is federally subsidized. i'll be glad to send you a link if you like. i'm not pro-life but the reason everyone gets so pissed is because even if you don't believe in abortion, your tax dollars are funding it.
This ad isn't about abortion. It's about birth control. Not a hard call to say that birth control should be covered by insurance. (Especially if Viagra is, for crying out loud!)
Where in the constitution does it say a women has a right to get an abortion?
I'm pro-choice, but you're incorrect to say women have a right to an abortion.
Roe v Wade is unconstitutional. Abortion should be decided on a state to state basis, like the 10th amendment of the Constitution says. The Supreme Court didn't have the authority to hear that case.
Where in the Constitution does it say a woman does NOT have the right to an abortion. If 50 states do 50 different things on this and other issues, we will cease to be a country and the Constitution will be worthless.
got a copy of the constitution right here... nothing in there about a right to have an abortion either. i don't have a womb, so the feds and i should shut up and let the states decide. that is what the constitution advocates.
Where in the Constitution does it say anything about the right to racially integrated public schools? Or the right to a tax-supported education at all?
The 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision was a far greater instance of judicial activism than Roe v. Wade. Yet today, almost everyone, even conservatives, thinks the Brown decision was a good idea.
Judicial activism is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.
Your logic is faulty. Judicial activism is not constitutional, regardless if it is used to do good. Your school issue should, according to the consitution, be handled at the local level. Any power not in the constitution, like mnaging education, automatically falls to the states.
Am I against those things? Not at all, and I didn't mean to create that impression. I was only pointing out that conservatives accuse judges and courts of "overstepping their authority," "legislating from the bench," etc. -- exactly what Southern segregationists accused the Warren Supreme Court of in 1954 -- when judicial decisions go against their personal ideology.
Read a book called The 5000 Year Leap. It describes the inentions of the founding fathers in their own words. It describes 28 principles that the founding fathers used. Compare them to yours and ask which is sound and logical.
Schools were intended to be handled on the local level becasue people have more control of what happens in their communities. The concept of a federal department of education is unconstituional (that power is not granted to fed gov) and socialistic.
An Important reminder, in regards to abortion, this election season: Check out this powerful YouTube video recorded by Sharon Morgan, at the age of 7. "Fearfully And Wonderfully Made - Voice Of The Children."
How many children have you adopted so far? And I know you must be supporting these mothers that are carrying their fetuses to term because I can't imagine that a person so impassioned that a womans body is not her own and the right to life is more important than the health of the mother would just walk away after you've convinced a girl or woman to carry her fetus to term. Or would you?
papertowelguy, you are a jerk! How many times have you used Viagra? Plenty I suspect with your defensive logic! For anyone with half a brain who watches this ad they will realize the naivete about women that just doesn't hold up anymore! Women are major contributors to our economy and our society - alot of that is owed to PP and birth control! Women are watching and women are voting in larger numbers than ever! McCain has proven his misogynistic and outdated modus operandi.
Do you even know what fascist means? Stoogewatcher, stop looking into the mirror. Planned Parenthood is the only place for some people to turn, they provide sex education for schools, sliding scale medical care, counseling... in fact they also do more to PREVENT abortion than ANYONE else out there! So now that you've shown off your ignorance, do us all a favor and keep you mouth shut unless you know what you are talking about, or you are willing to actually lend a hand to someone who needs help.
This may come as a surprise to you, but many people support Planned Parenthood and women's rights. In fact, there are rumors that some people who vote might actually BE women! Who - gasp! - use birth control! Tough concept to grasp, I know. I'll give you a bit to wrap your head around that.
Viagra is for a medical condition. This is UNFAIR to Obama. Many will vote for McCain because of Planned Parenthood's adverisement. What where they thinking of????
Viagra is for a medical condition; make me laugh! It's handed out like candy by Doctor's these days; it's for jollies and the medical/Rx establishment makes money off of it, period.
So, when they prescribe Viagra, they only prescribe one pill at a time? Because if it's needed for getting a woman pregnant, then surely they aren't having sex for fun.
If they are having sex for fun, then what is the women using for birth control? Oh, wait it's only for procreation.
This is UNFAIR to Obama. This ad is a cheap shot. Voters will see through it. Viagra involves a medical condition. What was Planned Parenthood thinking of???? Where is the overshight???? It is not fair to Obama that many will vote for McCain as they view this ad as extremist. PLEASE....Planned Parentood...........do you want to lose the election??? Who authorized this ad. There must be consequences to actions....
that's funny he makes a better point than both of you, then you critique his gramar. Last i checked Youtube doesn't have "spell check" so lay off. you know what he ment to type. It's funny, you lose an argument and your remedy is to critque his gramar. Learn some political facts than debate those. Not your hollier than thou spelling skills.
Well, McCain probably did have more experience than Obama, but his Alzheimers disease prevents him from remembering what his experience is...oh and uh...the only "experience" that McCain has is being a POW, my mom dated one of McCain's POW buddies dad, the guy said hes a prick...the guy was Scott Morgan, his son's name is Jody, if you don't believe me, go look it up...
You've touched on a reason why a lot of journalists like McCain at first; he doesn't really lie or try to get around it when he doesn't know.
Unfortunately, this is a really frightening trend in McCain's votes in the Senate. It gets to the point where you wonder, "Wow, does this guy have any idea what he's voting for?" He voted AGAINST laws that would provide equal coverage to women, but he doesn't seem informed enough to know what he voted for.
It's interesting that any YOUTUBE vid on McCain allows negative comments. But most of Obama's YOUUBE vids are obviously screened and sanitized, with negative comments deleted. My friends and I have made many comments on Obama vids that never got posted. By the way, I don't support McCain or Obama.
The reason why this is an issue on the campaign is because McCain's subordinate, Carly Fiorina, distorted his record and tried to appeal to voters by saying that McCain understood the disparity women have in terms of birth control coverage.
Not only does John McCain not understand this issue, but he also voted AGAINST equal coverage for women.
Just because your insurance covers your birth control doesn't mean that every insurance company does the same. Some don't cover it at all; some cover a few methods, but not others (IUDs in particular tend not to be covered, even though they're the most effective and safe methods available.) The ad is referring to a bill that would have required all insurance companies to cover birth control pills, and that's something many of us support.
...so, DavidWardClarh, Margaret Sanger would NOT be in favor of John Dubya McSame reproducing ? Well, me neither, but that doesn't automatically mean that I endorse eugenics. I think ALL Republicans and conservatives should be encouraged to limit their own population numbers. The only carbon-based lifeforms that DO NOT allow themselves or nature to check their own population growth numbers are cancer cells, contagious diseases, corporations and conservatives.
that's funny. Cause more childern are born to conservatives in this country than liberals. Main reason, abortion. You go on killing those childern and justifing murder all you want, we'll breed you out. You are so ignorant it's funny. You know the majority of "conservatives" are middle to lower income. you know the majority of Dems are higher income. Yeah conservatives and thier evil money. Get a clue and figure out shit on your own instead of what moveon and CNN tell you.
"The undeniably feeble-minded should, indeed, not only be discouraged but prevented from propagating their kind." - Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood.
Ummm, that's a pretty honest answer. And viagra is not birth control. It's for a "illness." Birth Control is not an illness. It's a "convienince(sp?)."
Pretty simple answer. Like the guy below me said, there are much greater issues facing this nation and this is the best you can do?
You've touched on a reason why a lot of journalists like McCain at first; he doesn't really lie or try to get around it when he doesn't know.
Unfortunately, this is a really frightening trend in McCain's votes in the Senate. It gets to the point where you wonder, "Wow, does this guy have any idea what he's voting for?" He voted AGAINST laws that would provide equal coverage to women, but he doesn't seem informed enough to know what he voted for.
Do some research. Birth control pills are often used to treat female reproductive diseases like endometriosis. And while fertility may not be a medical condition, pregnancy most certainly is (and in many cases, it's dangerous or even life-threatening.) Birth control is preventive care.
Birth control is not preventive care. Not having sex is preventive care. It'd be like insurance covering condums. Come on! Any "illness" BC prevents can be treated by other pills. Those are covered by heath insurance. I'm sorry sex is a choice, and the risks associated with sex are a consequence of that risk. There for insurance should not cover pills. However, my wife is on BC and our insurance does cover the pills, not 100% but still gives some discount.
Wow.... like Viagra and Birth Control will save our economy and reduce the $9 trillion national debt. Good job putting the asinine issues on the front burner while our government collapses around us.
I live in Florida and have Health first insurance. Health first coveres my pills.
On another note, viagra is covered by SOME insurance companies because ED is considered a medical condition. Birth control pills are USUALLY not perscribed for treating a medical condition.
PPH always says how much they care about women, that's total BS all they want is goverenment money, they don't care about the women, that's why they're getting their asses sued off because of all the tampered documents and unreported rape cases they dealt with!

If you have a problem actually getting your period and it comes randomly or even lasts for months at a time or with incredibly painful cramps it regulates it and lowers the pain greatly.the fact that some birth controls cost 100 + dollars isn't helping lowering abortion rates they hate abortions but make that

off these babies In 2009 Planned parenthood preformed a mere 134,000 abortions! Who is doing the other 866,000? You'd better be worried about ALL those small towm clinis that are doing the majority of abortion & stop picking on PP because your stupid.

What was the reporter talking about? The vast majority of insurance companies cover contraceptives. Look it up. I was/am pro-Obama, but I have to say that McCain wasn't in the wrong here; the question was bogus.
darkdragon165 2 years ago
First of all "millions" are not being slaughtered, that's an exageration. Second having an abortion is not light matter, when people have then is b/c they cannot support a child at all in most cases.
Besides a woman has the right to enjoy sex just as much as a man does. That doesnt make women whores.Welcome to the 21st century!
colossusrising 2 years ago
The actual number of abortions dropped to a new low, with 1.2 million abortions in 2005, compared to a high of 1.6 million abortions in 1990.
that was off a us news article.
yeah i understand a woman can enjoy sex but she can also take preventative measures. condoms, pills, diaphragms, and all the other things that prevent pregnancy. if they fail they have the morning after pill.
if they cannot support it then give it up for adoption.
disturbedone5009 2 years ago
Well that's the point of this video, Mccain should support contraception 120% and his ignorance on this issue is embarrasing for a presidential hopeful.
Im glad to see that you not only support contraception but also the morning after pill (some people consider that abortion)
I dont know where you live, maybe adoption is an absolute hit where you are, but here millions (and its no exageration) of children grow to adulthood as wards of the state.I cant tell you how miserable that life is.
colossusrising 2 years ago
i support it because i know that people wont stop having sex and why should they. but abortion should never be used as a form of birth control. the kid shouldnt be punished for the parents lack of judgment.
living in california i am far from the normal liberal. i am almost 100% conservative. im not sure what the adoption rate is but after graduating high school last year hearing all the girls talking about their last abortion was really disturbing to me.
disturbedone5009 2 years ago
Abortion should not be the primary source of birth control but prohibiting it altogether its narrowminded, it doesnt consider the range of situations people find themselves in.
The adoption rate and foster care conditions are dismal, look into it. Sad.Specially CA.
How were they talking about it? How do you know they were telling the truth?Normally girls dont have abortions on a lark, what was the context?. Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.
colossusrising 2 years ago
well one girl was saying she doesnt understand why she still looked fat after having her abortion. another asked her how many she had and she said it was her 2nd. i heard it a lot. some talked about how they went with their boyfriends or parents and some said they never told anyone and did it alone.
disturbedone5009 2 years ago
That sounds to me like they were simply talking about their experiences. It's good to verbalize sentiments that are hard to deal with. That's why there's support groups for all kinds of things. Maybe the school and public health needs to get involved more agressively in diseminating BC for both girls and boys. Provide more counseling on reproduction without blaming and demonizing.
colossusrising 2 years ago
yeah i know but its alarming that there are so many young girls doing this without parental knowledge. in california we tried to pass a law that required parental consent for a minor to have an abortion but it got voted down. i mean for a minor to be able to have an abortion with out parental consent is insanity. you cant even get your ears pierced without parental consent.
disturbedone5009 2 years ago
Not everyone's parents are caring, loving and understanding. You'd be surprised how many parents out there will downright kill their daughters if they knew about their pregnancy. That's why that law was passed, because young girls have died at the hands of their parents, be it from botched at home abortions or downright violence.
colossusrising 2 years ago
So we should keep abortion legal if a very very small minority of parents decide that a daughter being pregnant is worse than her dying. Therefore since a few people rape women that should just be made legal as well?

The belief of having a soul is just like the belief in santa claus, is belief not based in fact and cannot be proven.
cat or tree? maybe why not, why cant cats have souls anyway?
because it is inside of the woman, is no different than a parasite, b/c it gets all nourishment and substenance from its host without providing any benefit. the woman is the one exposing her life, making the long term comittment of time and resources.

i watched 'lake of fire' recently. it's pretty graphic. there are 2 abortions done so one can see what happens. oddly i found myself kind of unaffected.
personally, i say it's much better to hand out birth control like it's going out of style and educate the tar out of folks. it's a proven way to reduce unwanted pregnancies. but if you think i would ever care to see a return to the days of coat hangers and back alley abortions, forget it.
i choose the life here already over the zygote.
Conspiracy2Riot 3 years ago
"it's a proven way to reduce unwanted pregnancies."
40% of "unwanted" pregnancies happen to people who are contracepting. Freer access to birth control increases the incidence of unplanned pregnancies.
Killing an innocent human being is not an option when it is an inconvenice to someone.
stgianna 3 years ago
if your stats are correct then i'd have to say 40% is better than a higher number.
look, you and i will never see eye to eye. if i can watch an abortion and not change my mind, surely you can see this.
you have a right to your views. you don't have a right to legislate them. that's all i'm saying.
so don't have any abortions. how's that?
Conspiracy2Riot 3 years ago
Why can we legislate on things like slavery and killing a 3 year old child but not abortion. By your logic all of these circumstances can be justified. Think about what principles you base your life upon and if they are right.
stgianna 3 years ago
many people believe eating animals is murder.
but i think that what you choose to put IN your body is your business.
btw, are you anti birth control too?
Conspiracy2Riot 3 years ago
This is the problem with moral relativism. the idea that every thing is OK becasue you believe it is, is false. Either there is an absolute Truth or slavery, pedaphila and other crimes are OK because that is a particular person's opinion. If you cannot show a fundamental difference between a 1year old and a 8month old then kill each is equally wrong.
In this case what you put in your body is sperm. it changes when you are pregnant since that is a human life.
stgianna 3 years ago
"what you choose to put IN your body is your business."
Is it OK for a woman to put crack cocaine in her body when she is pregnant?
stgianna 3 years ago
I would support a Dr. providing medical support to a baby taken still alive.
I know nothing of Obama's position on this w/ regard to the IL state legislature. And it doesn't affect my voting for him anyway as McCain is so deeply on my bad side I have to go Obama.
But there is your answer. Yes, I would want the kid taken care of. I'm not a cold unfeeling person.
I just can't make decisions for other people in this context and won't. Far too personal.
Conspiracy2Riot 3 years ago
You did not address what changes about the baby when it leaves your body. Does it not have soul when it is inside of you? Is it like a cat or a tree? What happens when it leaves your womb? If it is a human being with rights after it leaves your body why is not a human being with rights while it is inside of you? How is you "possessing" it making it your property different than someone possessing a human slave making that person his property? Is that OK? Why is it OK for a baby to be property.
stgianna 3 years ago
and children are sort of a posetion: they could be given or taken away, parents demand their obedience in all things, its considered negligence on the part of the parent for the child to run amok, or not be taken cared of. Children as they grow up earn their autonomy from their parents and eventually become autonomous adults. So yeah, that's a sort of ownership.
colossusrising 2 years ago
If the baby is your property while it is inside of you do you support aborting babies to harvest their organs? A lot of people need liver transplants. Can we give women the "choice" to be impregnated and then harvest the organs of their babies after 8 1/2 months? They are just property, right? Seems like this would be a good way for the poor women of the world to make money. It is their property so why shouldn't they profit from it?
stgianna 3 years ago
understand this is a seriously complex issue. i personally have no problem with a first trimester abortion. beyond that it gets uncomfortable for me but i will never make this choice for anyone. if the fetus/baby whatever has a soul then God will take it up to heaven. done deal. but you can't really expect a baby 81/2 months along to be taken out alive and get harvested. you're really reaching now.
Conspiracy2Riot 3 years ago 2
So why is it not someone's "choice" to own slaves. If a a man is in my "possession", like you say your unborn baby would be, then by your logic he would be my property. Why isn't my "choice" to do what I wish with my "property"?
Some things are intrinsicly (always evil). It is always to place innocent men and women into bondage and it is always to take innocent life. Human life cannot be property.

So in your opinion it's normal for 75 year old men to have erections? Interesting. Birth control doesn't "suspend" pregnancy, it prevents it. It's not normal either. Most of women's lives are spent being not-pregnant.
sierscse 3 years ago
Birth control suspends fertiliy which is a normal condition.
This is why federally fudned healthcare is not good. I do not want to support any types of medication with my taxes. If I want to support this I will give money to a charity that would do it in an ethical way.
stgianna 3 years ago
Perhaps for men, but fertility for women is optimal only about 3-4 days each month, and childbearing years are restricted by age.
More and better access to birth control means less unplanned pregnancies, which means fewer abortions. Although president Bush is pro-life the number of abortions in the US has increased under his administration. That's a bad thing.
sierscse 3 years ago
"More and better access to birth control means less unplanned pregnancies"
40% of unplanned pregnancies occur to people who are contracepting. Unplanned pregnancies have only increased with the increase availability/education of contraception.
" number of abortions in the US has increased under his administration."
No. They have actually decreased.
stgianna 3 years ago
That happens everywhere in the world because you not only have to give the people the tools for contraception: you have to teach them how to use them. Politicians, everywhere, sell this sex education thing in an incomplete way.
wansses 3 years ago
Where did you find those stats? Please cite your sources. Thanks.
sierscse 3 years ago
RU-486 is quietly terminating pregnancies and the Washington Post article dated Jan 22, 2008 claims they contribute to approximately 14% of terminations. So those figures don't make it into the surgical procedure stats.
I don't know where this leaves us but I'm grateful to the makers of that little pill.
It's a simple answer to a complex problem and makes the situation far less complicated for women.

Conspiracy2Riot 3 years ago 2
When does the baby cease to be your property and become a human being? When it is removed from your body? When it is not in your possession. What fundamental thing changes about the baby when to cease's to be your property and becomes a human being? If nothing happens then you saying it is your property is your opinion and not objective Truth.
150 years ago some people considered other people property when they possessed them. Is this where you get your logic?
stgianna 3 years ago

seximamma1222 3 years ago
You are correct. The surgical abortion has decreased. But RU-486 makes these numbers suspect. Physicians can discreetly prescribe this magnificent pill.
It is estimated that it accounts for 14% of terminated pregnancies.
I don't care to do the math on this but if you added 14% to your decreased figure you'd have an approximate idea of where we are statistically.

The Supreme Court didn't have the authority to hear that case.
amartin7889 3 years ago
Where in the Constitution does it say a woman does NOT have the right to an abortion. If 50 states do 50 different things on this and other issues, we will cease to be a country and the Constitution will be worthless.
ulstermandc 3 years ago
got a copy of the constitution right here... nothing in there about a right to have an abortion either. i don't have a womb, so the feds and i should shut up and let the states decide. that is what the constitution advocates.
lkout71 3 years ago
Where in the Constitution does it say anything about the right to racially integrated public schools? Or the right to a tax-supported education at all?
The 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision was a far greater instance of judicial activism than Roe v. Wade. Yet today, almost everyone, even conservatives, thinks the Brown decision was a good idea.
Judicial activism is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.
scotpens 3 years ago
Your logic is faulty. Judicial activism is not constitutional, regardless if it is used to do good. Your school issue should, according to the consitution, be handled at the local level. Any power not in the constitution, like mnaging education, automatically falls to the states.
stgianna 3 years ago
are you against public funded education and integrated schools?
and without either, how do you see this society advancing here in America?
Conspiracy2Riot 3 years ago
Am I against those things? Not at all, and I didn't mean to create that impression. I was only pointing out that conservatives accuse judges and courts of "overstepping their authority," "legislating from the bench," etc. -- exactly what Southern segregationists accused the Warren Supreme Court of in 1954 -- when judicial decisions go against their personal ideology.
scotpens 3 years ago
Read a book called The 5000 Year Leap. It describes the inentions of the founding fathers in their own words. It describes 28 principles that the founding fathers used. Compare them to yours and ask which is sound and logical.
Schools were intended to be handled on the local level becasue people have more control of what happens in their communities. The concept of a federal department of education is unconstituional (that power is not granted to fed gov) and socialistic.

If McSame can't answer a question like this, why would we want his as president? He had that deer in the headlights look. Shameful!

OH YEAH!!!!!!!!! OBAMA 08!!!!!!!!!!! We don't need this guy in office, hes in his 70's and doesn't know what birth control is...
ScottVX9 3 years ago 3
He said he doesn't no enough about it, to give an ansewer.
Last I checked Obama was much younger then Mccain and has way less experience.
Also you guys always do this you vote somebody in, then you say "WE HATE HIM/HER!" then you vote somebody from the opposite party in the next time.
Get into politics and get your facts straight.

RufusRamen that is the wrong "no" it should be know. Go back to school Rufus then talk politics.

that's funny he makes a better point than both of you, then you critique his gramar. Last i checked Youtube doesn't have "spell check" so lay off. you know what he ment to type. It's funny, you lose an argument and your remedy is to critque his gramar. Learn some political facts than debate those. Not your hollier than thou spelling skills.
kcmcdonald2003 3 years ago
Well, McCain probably did have more experience than Obama, but his Alzheimers disease prevents him from remembering what his experience is...oh and uh...the only "experience" that McCain has is being a POW, my mom dated one of McCain's POW buddies dad, the guy said hes a prick...the guy was Scott Morgan, his son's name is Jody, if you don't believe me, go look it up...

RufusRamen,
You've touched on a reason why a lot of journalists like McCain at first; he doesn't really lie or try to get around it when he doesn't know.
A little disturbing.

Weird, I've criticized both candidates in comments and this has never happened. Ever.
By the way, I don't support McCain or Obama either. =]

Birth control is a choice, and Viagra is used to treat a man for his erectile disfunction problem.

I agree, Birth Control should not be a presidential issue, Come on Planned Parenthood, Get with it.
samsmart77 3 years ago
Samsmart77,
The reason why this is an issue on the campaign is because McCain's subordinate, Carly Fiorina, distorted his record and tried to appeal to voters by saying that McCain understood the disparity women have in terms of birth control coverage.
Not only does John McCain not understand this issue, but he also voted AGAINST equal coverage for women.

Isn't McCain the same guy who says that he DOESN"T know how to use a computer?
How is he going to find out info on anything from anybody? Will he wait for the carrier pigeons to bring it?

I live in Florida and have Health First insurance. My BC pills are covered. This ad is misleading.
HSscienceteacher1 3 years ago 2

Do some research. Birth control pills are often used to treat female reproductive diseases like endometriosis. And while fertility may not be a medical condition, pregnancy most certainly is (and in many cases, it's dangerous or even life-threatening.) Birth control is preventive care.
Somnambulicious 3 years ago 5
Birth control is not preventive care. Not having sex is preventive care. It'd be like insurance covering condums. Come on! Any "illness" BC prevents can be treated by other pills. Those are covered by heath insurance. I'm sorry sex is a choice, and the risks associated with sex are a consequence of that risk. There for insurance should not cover pills. However, my wife is on BC and our insurance does cover the pills, not 100% but still gives some discount.
kcmcdonald2003 3 years ago
Wow.... like Viagra and Birth Control will save our economy and reduce the $9 trillion national debt. Good job putting the asinine issues on the front burner while our government collapses around us.

That's strange. My insurance company covers birth control. What an idiot! Shop around. Find a company that covers it, if it's that important to you.

I'd like to know why insurance companies cover viagra but not birth control.
Lojikbom 3 years ago
I live in Florida and have Health first insurance. Health first coveres my pills.
On another note, viagra is covered by SOME insurance companies because ED is considered a medical condition. Birth control pills are USUALLY not perscribed for treating a medical condition.
