If you look at the Lincoln Institue's Abraham Lincolns Classroom, you will find that Dixie was indeed a song old Abe was extremely fond of and the website cites several instances after the civil war at which Lincoln specifically asked for the song to be played.

@shadowsun50 You need to get YOUR "shit" together friend. The Southern armies did not fully capitulate until after his death, now the army of Northern Virginia, with Robert E. Lee comanding, DID surrender before Lincoln died, but the Armies under Joseph E Johnston did not surrender until 4 days after his death, the remaining forces the south would not surrender until may of 1865, a full month after his death.

So Lincoln DID NOT survive the end of the Civil war
