  • HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!

  • The guitar riffs and some portions resemble both the songs Gimme Shelter by Rolling Stones and Smooth Operator by Sade, but this song is definitely among the 90s classics. Miss those great times.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year 2009 everyone.

The song is AMAZING and so is the band.

  • yes i do, i just started getting into them

  • awesome! im happy to hear that! my dad and mom have been fans since the begining... i wasnt born in 1993, so yeah ive been an obsesssive fan for 4 years! haha ive met them, written them, gone swimming with them (haha i have!), gotten talked to on stage by them, song detications from Joel (guitar player) autograpghs, and guitar picks. haha im pretty obsessive! and im glad you like them now, too! :D

  • youve went swimming with them!! haha how did that happen?? because that is awesome, cause i love collective soul

  • this is the song of my chilhood i made my mom play this in the car all the time we played so much that the cassette broke=[

  • love it!

  • collective soul was the very first cd i ever owned xD

  • this is they're best song in my opinion....

    brings back some serious memories...

1995..i was a junior in high school.

  • this rocks

  • last of the greats.

  • Agreed! Best band of their time and you can come back and listen to that which has withstood time. Peace ; )

  • 1992 yeah. love 90's music these days SUCKS some bands r acceptable tho.

  • i agree 100% 90's music was great.

  • Video doesn't do the song, or Collective Soul much justice, but a great tune nonetheless. December can be a cold, foreboding month in most regions. It can be the remnants of a passing year, but ain't it fun around the 25th?

  • 93 ftw

  • 93' here too

  • Ah, this song brings back memories from the 90s.

    '93 here.

  • Not all of us 90 kids are technology dependent... it's the 2000+'s you want to worry about =/. But what we created will soon destroy us.

  • Doesn't mean we can't adjust. Think before you speak.

  • thats kinda where the phrase ignorance is bliss comes from. If we had no idea about the robot technology or the way god works, It wouldn't come back to eventually destroy us all.

  • what do you mean?

  • Love this song. Love the band. Love Ed Roland. He is so handsome and hot with long dark hair. Ed, get rid of the blond, it doesn't do you justice, nor show your good looks. Ed is hot!! yum-O!!!!!

  • He dyes it blonde because he started going gray, which you can see here. I think he'd look fine with gray hair, but then he'd look fine no matter his hair color! :)

  • Love this song. Love the band. Love Ed Roland. He is hot!!!!!! He looks so handsome with long dark hair. Get rid of the blond Ed, dark does you better, son young and handsome...yum-O

  • i`m only 9 years old and i know some of the song, not all of it just very little.

  • i miss the 90's

they had the best music and moive's

  • The President of the United States of America,Green Day,Blind melon,Collective Soul,Smashing Pumpkins,Blues Travler's.That was great music back in the 90's.

  • I'd say of all landmark 90's music, this was a part of it. Live was also in this genre.

  • This song is awesome it remind's of when people backstab you it's because their lives are messed up.

  • hell im 14 and i fuckin love these guys lmao

  • i was getting so fucken high when these guys were on the radio in the 90's

    I meleted into the music

  • For any of you stupid motherfuckers who don't remember your past, or you weren't fortunate enough to fit the timeline, know that the 90's were the imperial time to be coming up, there is no comparison anytime. The way you young people act nowadays is a fucking travesty all goddamn tech dependant, and soft with no survival skills. And to think your only a decade removed from the illest time on earth. Don't think i'm the only one who see's it either. And i'm only 29

  • im 15, and i agree, even tho ur gonna think im an idiot

  • The 90s were supposedly a remedy to cure our selfish ways in the 80s but I suffered 2 divorces in the 90s so Diego, until you go through more than one relationship you'll never know and I turn 43 years young later in September 2008...Mikey

  • I know exactly what you are talking about and I am 19..is that a little young??

  • Yes, because everyone was raised in that time period is like that. No exceptions.

    Calm down.

  • god damn i miss the 90's. they were the shit.

  • don''t talk about was the first name to this song

  • this vidio wakes me up for some reason its enlightening and sry for your loss johnny i no how it feels

  • Man, music used to be inspiring. now i get pissed off every day due to it's fucking wretched decline.

  • this song reminds me of my best friend who is gone now and his girl friend. they'd argue and she'd always say "you use me and spit me out." the song is incredible!

i'll always love you tim. see you on the other side bro'.

  • when i was a kid my dad used 2 always play this on the tape and we jus run around the room pretending were rockin out ha.

    90's kid right here.

  • dude me 2 i use to listen to this with my dad when i was younger, brings back good memories.

  • This Song and Band Are Just Amazing!!!!

  • Wait... Just listen to the lyrics, . . . December Promises you gave unto me December whispers of treachery....What they are saying is your meaningless to me, december being endless and cold. and this line. . . dont throw away your basic needs: ambience and vanity... Come on, tell me thats not about a girl
  • Right on staytonfiftyone. I've been telling these kids that song is about a girl for over a year now.

  • Yes I know, I love this song.

  • You know, you shouldnt always assume every song is a bout a girl. Think past relationships and try to think of deeper meanings to music. Sometimes messages are hidden in artists music.

  • great song, but don't care 4 the disco sounding that in last last part

  • I think they are pretty damn awsome, matterless of what they believe. Who cares, just feel the music.

  • Someone asked what this song is about. It is about not being accepted for your beliefs, beliefs in God. Its Collective Souls way of saying they wouldn't be accepted if they came out as a openly christian band.

If you listen to most of thier songs with this in mind, you will hear MANY religeous undertones.

While some may hate them for this. Others, and I applaud them.

  • My interpretation of this song is the breakdown of a relationship due to conflicting beliefs. Probably due to the vid.

That said: hold up. There is a huge number of Christians in rock and metal. There is also a valid point in the criticism of "christian" genre bands that use their beliefs as a way to hide a lack of talent. Not that Collective Soul is guilty of this, but some are.

I'm curious. Would you applaud someone from a different belief system doing similar? Buddhists? Pagans? Satanists?

  • Ed looks REALLY pissed off. That girl must have played him really well.

  • Playing cards? Oooooh!!! My father in law was a minister when he was alive and he called that "the Devil's game". Ooooooh! Very, very bad!

  • Does that include solitaire? I luv solitaire.

  • Oh don't worry about solitare-I think if your not playing cards with real money it should be alright. My father inlaw thinks cards are evil and I'm intimadated by him because he was a minister.

  • its not what goes into the mouth that makes a man a sinner but what comes out of the mouth. we are not to judge or condem others, In each heart we all know what is right and wrong in life. religious legalistic people need to get a real life in the Lord and Love their neighbor as they would love their own self then you have life more abundantly.

  • Tomsjamb,I agree completely,very well said!

  • Wherof one cannot speak, thereof one must remain silent?

    ;)

  • Tomsjamb. Beautiful comment. I guess I shouldn't judge sinners and bad people.

  • my fav song by them i love it

  • i swear it sounds like hes sayin "just took my son to a trip to Maine" instead of "just tilt my sun to your domain"

  • Thank guys. I feel much better listening to it with your perspectives.

  • He's religious, mabe he's talking about not being accepted as a person due to his beliefs.

  • Yeah, I love this song, but what is it about??

  • I would say it's about manipulation, could be like a girl who says she likes you but really has different views. It could also be about getting walked all over, not taken seriously.

  • they were an awesome band, still would be if they were still together. And I love this song!! But i dont understand it, like its meaning..

  • they are still together...

  • This band rocks! I love this song! I wish bands still sounded this good!

  • Well..sadly wish in one hand, crap in the other, see what ya get. But for real I feel ya, music today sucks, the industry is in need of serious change.

  • haha i was 2 when this came out!

i remember this for some reason!

  • Epic by Faith No More came out when I was an infant and for some odd reason I remember hearing it way back then..idk something about music. Powerful.

  • My dad and I used to sing this song ALL the time when I was like 2 and we'd be in his truck...ah, the days of being a toddler!

  • Have you seen Ed blonde? It looks great.

  • Ed Roland is so damned sexy...

  • This song rocks!!! Love it!!

  • I love this song.

  • Funny thing, I first heard this song in a hardware store just yesterday.

  • kbcreationsx0x. I first heard it in a convenience store where I was working. I loved it immediately. And I loved the singer's Raspy voice too.

  • This video is what made me have a crush on the lead singer's brother (he is the brunette with the ear length hair)

  • my brothers sang this song to me when i was a baby and i will always love it!!!

  • This is still my favorite video. And the first song I heard them play on the radio.

  • This is one of my favorite songs. It's the kind of song I can listen to over and over again without getting tired of it.

  • this is one of the songs that was good but then it gets old and when you discover it again you're kinda like "omg i love this song!"

  • i know!!! this take sme back to . . like 5th grade haha

  • dope song

  • great song, great band

  • not bad song, but i like shine better from them but still great song!!
