What is the technique called where the cellists play the fingerboard only, know bow or plucking involved? Similar to tapping on a guitar.

Is it my imagination? Or does de cello has the fingerboard more... small? The space between the bridge and the fingerboard is enormous!

It's because it's a Baroque cello.

In other words, it's a REAL cello -- like those made by famous violin makers like Stradivari --- not of those "modern" cellos (which are really 19th c. cellos or cellos based on 19th c. aesthetics or Baroque cellos corrupted to suit 19th c. aesthetics.)

Baroque fingerboards tend to be both shorter and wider.

Notice also the bows and the flute.

They're strung withplain gut or wire-wound gut strings.

All Baroque style instruments.

yup baroque cellos have smaller fingerboards ther are about athousand differences between modern and baroque cellos i like the baroque better
