Im with you, JiGe96, Best year ever for Ireland in the 21st century. Real Irish music(=awesome!). He's got a wonderful voice. Wish that he was representing Ireland in eurovision this year, 2011!!! I remember sitting in front of the tv watching him with my fingers crossed in Dublin...
True irish quality. This must be the best irish performance in the 21st century. They have mostly lost the great music they once had. Except for this, they ahdnt had a quiality song since 1997 IMO.
I recommend we have a Westeran Eurovision, cus the eastern block is making it sooooo hard for us to win....so feck if the uk is hated...its a singing competition! War in afghanistan has nothing to do with it!! Like ireland votes the uk and look at our relationship with them, aint the best- 800 years of oppression....but us irish are smart...wen it says its a singing competition then we will vote on talent..not political differences!!
@IrishHorror Maybe you losers should just put more effort to the game, huh? More this Brian Kennedy -like stuff rather than horrible chicken. Besides, the last 2 ESC's were won by 2 Western countries.
We will sound like this but better at Oslo thanks to Ireland picking the best act we had Niamh kavanagh. her song is amazing its called " Its For You"
I'm Irish from tipperary (a place with sense unlike waterford)! And the vocal ability was amazing in this song! just wasn't suitable for the eurovision and thats no reason to deny it a chance!! Well Done Brian and Ireland!! :-)
Yes its political, but I don't agree that EVERY country in europe "hates" Ireland! I do agree (being honest) that most of Europe do not like the U.K.! Can anyone in mainland Europe please let us know what you think! Are Ireland hated in Europe? And if so, why? Thanks.
Yeah i think the UK are hated more too, and i think some of that transfers to Ireland just because your so close to the UK. The UK are hated because of reasons such as the war in Afghanistan etc. So in the past Eurovision song contests the UK have only got points from Ireland, but now i think it is better because they actually have judges, who contribute to half of the decisions about points, making it fairer.
Yes, it is true that Ireland are considered a part of the united kingdom by a lot of people from mainland Europe! But at a glance, I believe judges are better, but who the judges are is so important chris! Personal taste and opinion is huge which is why 50% public and 50% judges is a perfect combination!! Ps. I am half Irish and half Norweigian so I am happy Norway won this year!! :-)
oh lord have have mercy... im irish a waterford girl and good lord this is shite... this is a song that you would hear in a church.... yuk dont like it at all
This was one of my least favourite Irish eurovision songs. Its far too whingey, and the priest in the background scares me! I much preferred 2007, 2008 and 2009. However, this did the best of all of them, so fareplay!
brians amazing he has an excellent voice not realy eurovision stuff as he is not wearing a flashing boobtube or something else outrageous like we in england do for shock tactics
rediscovering my 7 point of that year (he is linked with Secret garden so i am biased since the first time i heared it i said it was a boring shit song lol)
I find this song gets better with age - I had my Eurovision 2006 CD on the other day while driving, and liked this almost the best - so Irish, I forgot which country did this, but after listening to it, it had the haunting melody that was only Ireland. . .also love his accent that comes through in the song.
yay for ireland. the last two entries have been really bad and i can't believe ireland went along with fad with the whole flashy and no content with dustin, really disappointed. what happened to beautiful ballads?
We did well enough with this song-I mean, we didn't have to do the semi-finals the next year so Dervish got straight in. He did well-and if this was 1968, he might've won.
We used to be so good but now ppl in our country just don't take it seriously and send a turkey to represent our country. Thousands of talented ppl entered this year and one of the many non-talented people, oh sorry, turkeys was chose to represent us.
we don't take it seriously any more because of block voting. we are never goingto do well in the eurovision again. wel maube if we sent in u2 or someone already famous.
everybody loves ireland and its not political voting thats stoppin u guys from advancing. lets be honest, u guys have sent very weak entries the last two years. Dervish were waaayy out of tune and yyer a turkey lol
u guys need to go back to a strong ballad something that won u the competition 7 times
I was fell in love with this song in 2006..Last time I heard it long time ago, so it's great to listen it now and remember how much I liked it :D Great song, really xD
4 things, those 3 and at least 5 countries with good relations with you (the country) surrounding you. Have those 4 and you have top 3 finish gaurenteed
Let's be honest, it's hard enough to get into the top 10 in Eurovision for the past few years. A song has to be a show. This is just a calm song, but it still got into the top 10.
I like this song more than most of my own countries songs.
We should send somthing like this over again, it finished in the top ten! Which is as good as it gets under the new text vote system which is ruining the compitition!
Watch the tv on 23rd February Marc Roberts is putting forward a song called chances for the eurovision song contest for this year so I'll be voting him in as he is a great singer and song writer his song in 1997 misterious woman was wonderful.
god know i hope that fecking stupid turkey isnt voted in bad enough having dervish last year we dont want to make idiots of ourselves at least Marc Roberts has class and sings great lets send Marc back for us remember he only lost by a couple of points to Katriona that year.
The problem is that a lot of people will vote for Dustin, regardless of how bad his song is. Some will vote for him because they like him and some will vote for him to show their contempt for the competition. And when we send a puppet who can't sing to the Eurovision, all of Europe will laugh at us!
Well, i guess it`s just a sign of how the Eurovision has changed in the eyes of the Irish and Europe. This year we said feck it, we`l send a turkey and our odds are 5/1 to win the whole thing! I for one, wish Dustin all the best because it highlights the Eurovision`s enourmous fall from grace.
The song is nice enough, but it's too 'soft' and 'apologetic' to be a Eurovision winner. Also personally this singer's voice is way too whiny and annoying.
I'm Irish but I really hate the songs our country does for the Eurovision. They are always so dull!!! And Brian Kennedy sucks peas! They should make a rock song in Irish language (Gaeilge) - that'd be pretty cool!
Couldnt agree more. Id luv Ireland to send in summit different - Gaelic rock would be cool! Although i have heard you are putting in a folk group this year - God help us!!
Yeah, they're a Sligo based grúpa called Dervish. I don't know what they're like - they could be brilliant or suck peas... ah well. Tá ceol mo shaol, agus tá saol mo cheol.
While this was on, I was muttering to myself "This isn't going to get them 12 points", you need to be interesting, and in some cases, slightly obscure *coughfinlandcough*.
I like the song...It is good for sleeping and relaxing...couldnt continue to listen to it over and over again or I would pull my hair out! But Bryan does have an excellent voice...his version of "You Raise Me Up" is the best version I have heard,...Much better than Josh Groban
Yes, typish irish - and like the last years - very boring, sorry! Where are the Irish Pearls like Eimear Quinn? This was the greatest Irish Song in the 90`s!
