Yeah i think the UK are hated more too, and i think some of that transfers to Ireland just because your so close to the UK. The UK are hated because of reasons such as the war in Afghanistan etc. So in the past Eurovision song contests the UK have only got points from Ireland, but now i think it is better because they actually have judges, who contribute to half of the decisions about points, making it fairer.

Yes, it is true that Ireland are considered a part of the united kingdom by a lot of people from mainland Europe! But at a glance, I believe judges are better, but who the judges are is so important chris! Personal taste and opinion is huge which is why 50% public and 50% judges is a perfect combination!! Ps. I am half Irish and half Norweigian so I am happy Norway won this year!! :-)

I find this song gets better with age - I had my Eurovision 2006 CD on the other day while driving, and liked this almost the best - so Irish, I forgot which country did this, but after listening to it, it had the haunting melody that was only Ireland. . .also love his accent that comes through in the song.
