Wow... did the guy posting this video even listen to it? Romney says in the video very plainly. He doesn't want a government takeover of healthcare. He doesn't want a federal mandate. He wants universal health coverage. Meaning he would like everyone in the country to have insurance BUT it should not be done with a universal federal government plan.
@mpetrie He is speaking on both sides of his mouth. The term ''government takeover'' is just a poll a term used by pollsters. Listen to yourself, how do you get everyone insured (Universal Coverage) if you don't have mandates?
What I find strange is that, Insurance mandates were first suggested by Chuck Grassley (R) of Iowa and backed by Gingrich (R). Republicans talked about responsibility. Mandates were republican ideas in 1993. Now they rally against their own plan. Bunch of fakes
@jopaddy81 I completely agree about the fact it's strange the way the GOP feels about mandates. Have you ever heard Romney say he regrets doing the mandate approach in MA? No. He stands by it. What he doesn't support is a FEDERAL mandate because it's unconstitutional and flies in the face of the 10th Amendment. The GOP was fine with his mandate in MA until Obama copied it at the federal level. Now they're completely against ANY mandates. But Romney stands by his mandate approach in MA.
@jopaddy81 Regarding "Universal Coverage". Romney said he wants to have universal coverage. Meaning, he wants everyone in the U.S. to have and carry insurance. Insurance should be affordable enough for everyone to be able to afford and carry their own insurance and thus we'd achieve "universal coverage". Can it be done without mandates? Probably not because there are those who choose to freeload. But we can still fight for it. But the Feds should not step on the 10th Amendment and mandate it.
He said he didn't want a government take over of the plan, that means not Universal Health Care, coverage is different listen to the video starting at 4minutes. That makes my case and discredits your claim.
You were not listening to what he said, he wants Universal Coverage, which means everyone is covered, not Universal Health Care. There is a big difference, listen to the rest of the quote, not government controlled . Romney is a conservative, check out the truth at TeaPartyforRomney(dot)com
@MrFastFacts Tell us the difference between Universal coverage with regards to the topic at hand which was health care and Universal Healthcare?
This ought to be good. The guy put in mandates in Massachusset. Who are you kidding? He said it himself that he wanted to be on the left of Ted Kennedy in 1994. This so called tea party is a fake. Its just a right wing tink tank
REAL Conservatives UNDERSTAND that "entitlements" are HEARTLESS!
Forced Redistribution (social or corporate) turns , the taxed SLAVES of, recipients into DEPENDANTS, politicians into CRONIES and “special interests” into TYRANTS while killing FREEDOM & competition by redistributing success to reward failure thus destroying ALL personal responsibility and ANY sense of self-worth.
“Progressive” Central Planning does not provide "justice" of ANY kind!
Only uneducated fools would fall for Romney, Rick and Newt for president. They have no strong moral base. Romney sold his soul to JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs Open secrets.Org. Newt running on a platform of family values he has had 3 wives, he has sold his soul to pure greed so many ethic violations as speaker and his own party voted to get rid of him. Rick obviously does not want peace has stated hates gays and Muslims and wants war. He was a lobbyist in Washington D.C.
