I think the Movie he's talking about that is set in Las Vegas and for Coppola and has eight or so of his songs is One from the Heart, not Paradise Alley which he also acts in but is set in NY.
I feel like the end of the world happened thirty years ago and somebody just found this one and only old video tape so we built a new religion around it and lived happily ever after.
He was cut from the movie. I can't find his scenes anywhere. Can anyone help me out if there is a version of the film with him in it?! Because I know they released a special one for television where his scenes were left alone...
I really fucking hate Hollywood. He's such an underrated talent.
Very rare until this year. The beginning that is missing is also a lot of fun, showing Tom at his door guarding himself with a toilet plunger, asking if it's Jet magazine at the door. Tom writes the most amazing melodies of the last 35 years...some kind of light is shining on his head that's completely unique. I saw the tour this summer of 2008 in Phoenix, and though the show was a gas, the subtle tonal work in his voice in the eighties is pretty much gone as he sings a much larger style.
So sclogse1, where can the rest of us see the interview (and intro you mention) in it's entirety? I would be curious to know where to track down Tom Waits interviews and other television appearances in general. Seems a hard find.

That's a very young Jeanne Bekker, who went on to do some early MTV slots and Fashion TV.

Tom Waits would say New York is too small and keep a straight face.
