  • I read "orphan tourism" and assumed it was something much, much darker.

  • Volunteers leave after 3 month and that hurts them and if that keeps happening, they will just stop trusting that an adult figure will stay and take care of them. How sad though some volunteers are in it for the attention and praise. It is hard work to take care of children let alone orphans. When you do this type of work you do it for life. Jesus wouldn't stop being jesus after helping only a few people to get recognition.

  • these people need all them help they can get they are poor and never had shit. finally they get help and certain organizations are against it .......... perhaps these certain organizations are trying to eliminate there competition. .

  • @whitehoesanono While I agree that some of these people do desperately need help, people aren't careful about how they help them, and carelessness in instances like this can cause disasters. In this case it's created an industry where little children are taken from their parents, and forced to preform for unscreened foreigners in unregulated orphanages. It's not safe for the kids. There are havebeen more than a few pedophiles caught running orphanages with filled with kids and that's sick.

  • @00Petulia00 fuck the darkness try to focus on the light

  • @whitehoesanono without one there isn't the other

  • This is exploitation. The air head volunteers are getting some feel-good moments for their egos. Next they will make a reality tv show. And be assured, the fat white couple are making fat cash money.

  • Really nice of you guy help people in my country.

  • This is more sad to me to see then helpful. I was in an orphanage for 10 years and if I saw this happening in an orphanage I would be sad and traumatized because of course... I do not

  • your all crap. these people helping are the best

  • @glendacoco11 Lol, it's "you're", not "your". Listen again to see the problem. Kids get emotionally attached to these short-term volunteers, nor do volunteers perform their work professionally. These people helping aren't the best.

  • Absolutely fascinating. This video has taught me SO much. Thank you.

  • I admire what these girls are doing, even though it is short term, it is a shitload more than what UNICEF are actually doing for those kids at the moment.

  • I think volunteer is good so far.

  • I`m not volunteer

  • "Travesty in Haiti: A true account of Christian missions, orphanages, fraud, food aid and drug trafficking" by Timothy Schwartz is a good book that exposes the evil, money-making orphan industry. There's no such thing as orphans with parents. An orphan is one that has lost both parents.

  • why does aljazeera have so little views?!?! he is way more interesting/important than the majority of youtube celebrities who give so little to their viewers!!!

  • The orphanage industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. The religious and secular money makers flock to these countries to set up orphanages as a source of revenue to buy big mansions in their countries. Meanwhile, the industry gives young white saviors and guilty white liberals something to feel warm and fuzzy about - and of course allow them to pretend as if the policies of their governments have nothing to do with the rise in orphans around the world.

  • @nadoop

    Absolutely agree with this.

  • This comment is racist and makes broad generalizations about an entire group of people based on skin color and nationality.

  • @nadoop VERY TRUE ! ..... but anyone who gives a damn has probably been there once. Its a long hard emotional journey to realise that.

  • @11:30

    translation:

"I can't wait to get out of this dump"

I can tell these girls are selfish, the only reason they do this is so they can brag about on a resume, college application, or to people when they first meet them. If it's truely about the then they wouldn't even mention it, but I can be sure they mention their volunteer work at every given opportunity.

  • @john5246 : lol what a brilliant though. They are selfish that y they become a volunteer for 3 months lol

  • @MrAchkor

Yes, did you not understand my first comment? They are volunteering so they can show off that they volunteered. Do you get it now?

  • I like AlJazeera ... versatile, entertainment educating, interesting.

  • it's sad that we are living in a world like this.
