  • this is the trailer?

  • who is the actor in this? he isn't in the version i saw as a child or the one i own. :/

  • Ahhh, I hated this show when I was a kid the tale of the bunyip scared me. It was still truly great though when I look back on it.

  • @Dalkeeshful I remember the bunyip and it scared me too!!! Haha! But I still loved the show.

  • I think there is a lot of heart in these old shows from when I was a kid. Now what they make for kids is mostly to get their parents to shell out money for merchandise, theme parks and live shows. Not so much heart.

  • I remember watching this in the early 80s as a kid on HBO when it was a real treat to have HBO, the only major movie channel back then unless you had a dish (even more rare). This movie is timeless, I'll play it for my future kids...

  • @400SA I also watched Dot back in June of 1980,When after the show I used to go to the bike trail in the

woods similar to the Australian bush near my old town of Wantagh recurrung of Dot and the Kangaroo hopping down to the water hole.

  • I remember this! Throughout my years I would look my on my childhood and remember this girl and her kangaroo but for the life of me couldn't remember the name. That's one childhood mystery solved, now the odd rock group for a kids show with guys with different colored mullets.

  • I just wish that the Yoram Gross Studios would make more Dot Movies or a Dot tv show for the ABC or a Dot TV Special, that would rid the world of Dora the Explorer and would a good merchandising for little girls. All the best Sam Briggs :D

  • I had always been wondering what Spike Milligan looked like, that and never knew what voice he played til watching this. Thanks :)

  • I remember seeing this, and being intrigued with the Roger Rabbit aspect of it. Still fairly good kids' fair.

  • Looks charming and if Spike Milligan in it then I know its going to be wild!!

  • pretty well done for the time hehe

  • OMG !! This is classic! My favorite songs was the kangaroo song "hoppity , hoppity , hop. That's the way we go..." and the platypus song in this video. They don't make good films like these any more. (sigh!)

  • Yeah, loved this when i was a kid!

  • I saw this when I was very young, and always remembered a few scenes through the years. I kept trying to find out what it was. . .yeah for youtube!

  • Isn't it crazy how things like this can linger in your mind for years, even though you have no idea what it is? I hope it wasn't the Bunyip song that lingered in your mind for years. That part always creeped me out when i was a kid!

Glad your quest to discover what those scenes were from has now come to a close.

  • I have such vivid memories of this movie I had to find some video of it. I just sat and watched all 12 parts. I still love it at 31 years of age.

  • I have had the vision in my head of a little girl singing "riding in the pouch of a red kangaroo"in my head for about 20 years. 1 week ago i decided to see where or why it was still stuck in there. finally finding it here on youtube. WOW is all i can say now!!!!

  • I was born in 1973 and this show is so deeply in my psychi..hehehe. soo cool to see it again. I remember the part where she dug the water out of the dirt. I thought it was magic..

  • Ah, that song i love so much! =]

Takes me back when I was 7

  • Although I never actually saw Dot and the Kangaroo, I did however watch this short video after the credits of Dot and the Bunny.

    LOL, instant classic.

  • Yey I`m an orni-doringo-paradoxus XD *sing

I love the music of the video

  • I had the kangaroo song stuck in my head for months when I was a kid.

  • i can see why. i live in the USA, but i think this was still on TV, just like it was on VHS.

the Disney Channel aired 2-3 "Dot" movies years ago, so that's how i vaguely remember these.

  • That's where I saw all of them. Dot and the Kangaroo, Dot and the Whale, Dot and the Koala, then that one where Dot stops the ethnic warfare between Marsupials and other animals...

  • Some lady sang a cover of the song "Dot in the Pouch of a Red Kangaroo" that was released on LP. Could someone tell me who it was so I can go look for it. Thanks.

  • it was Barbara Frawley, the original voice of the"Dot" Films of the late 70's -early 80's.

  • Do you have it, if not, what's the name of the LP album it's on, so I can know what to ask for and go look for it?

  • Charming, very charming. I saw D & the K when I was a child and discovered the genius of Spike Milligan six years ago. When I realized he was the voice of the platypus, I nearly freaked. He's my hero (him and Peter Cook).

  • i've never seen this full trailer of dot and the kangaroo w/ spike milligan except in parts of an old HBO commercial since 1980.
