Simply Amazing! It feels so magical to see the faces behind the phenomenal soundtracks of Harry Potter and of course to watch John Williams doing his thang, like a baws :D <3
@avatarnarutochuck but they did use John Williams music they use "Leaving Hogwarts". You hear it in the epilogue. Its the same song used in the final scene of the first movie.
@Cherrysakura5 I know he used it on the epilogue. What I meant was he should have used "Harry's Wondrous World" after the epilogue, as the end credits roll, just like in the 1st and 2nd films.
John Williams gave the way of what is Harry Potter. Nicholas Hooper made his music reborn more dramatic, and Alexandre Desplat... made music that doesn't fit whit Harry Potter...
@123456789wil1 I agree, Desplat's music sounds good by itself, but somehow when I hear it in the film, it seems to stand out too much to me. I think what he lacks is subtlety, of which Hooper and Williams have.
@Paint well, that's a very interesting point. I may think that's exactly the problem - when one knows something too well, he may find difficult to select the details which should really be emphasised in this kind of music... probably he didn't rehearse enough, or isn't a very demanding maestro. Puccini didn't conduct at all; why would that be?
@BXBProductions Well, that is not quite called conducting, because for sounding exactly as it is written, you don't need a conductor at all. Conducting is showing how the score affects you. Unfortunately, that's why many guys are waving and dancing clowns rather than conductors.
All of us were thrilled that HP and the Deathly Hallows part 2 had been already leaked. We each watched the whole thing via watch harry potter. us (no spaces)
Im not a huuuge John Williams fan when it comes strictly to his musical outlines, but he is a FANTASTIC movie composer. I wish he would do the music for part 2..
i like the darker more sinister theme of harry potter that they have used recently. the first two movies didnt have that slur effect or something, it's so much darker now.. ooo it gives me chills
@HEATSEEKER911 He was great with the first 2 movies because it was more of an introduction to Harry Potter's world. It was SUPPOSE to be lush and magnificent. When he got to the 3rd, there were so many changes - the director, the darker style... That it was just harder to keep that same exact magical feel to the music... Must be hard for anyone to keep up with 8, yet alone 3 movies, and that many directors. Yates probably wanted a less operatic, more contemporary style anyway.. :/
You'd think with all the money WB is making on the HP films, they could have splurged enough to get Williams out of retirement for the 4th through the 8th film....only Hooper came close and that is b/c he used the same style and much of Williams' original compositions in his music for OoTP and HBP. Ah the great one himself...
London Symphony Orchestra > Orlando Philharmonic....the woodwind section in this orchestra is awful. It doesn't add any brilliance or color where it's supposed to (especially in the runs / arpeggios)...murr.
I was so close to going for the time when the Malaysian philharmonic orchestra was doing it but then I had some important event to go for....damn.....
John Williams is today's Mozart and there's no questioning he was perfect for the Harry Potter series but I really think Nicholas Hooper did a good job as well. Alexandre Desplat however, well I don't like it but it may be because he only get's to compose the darkest tunes leaving him no chance to prove himself.
John Williams is a huge reason to why Harry Potter is so popular, I can't imagine a world without him.
@IhaveApony Agreed. Although the movies generally got better than the original first 2 and the actors more experienced, they lack the really memorable music of the first 2.
no dislikes =) which just proves that this is AMAZING... it's magical!
thank you, Mr John Williams, for composing such beautiful music that has a great impact on my life =D and well done everyone at the orchestra, you did a very very good job =)
It's really sad that John Williams was unavailable or chose not to score the last two films - nonetheless I'm sure Alexandre an admirable job. I'm just glad John's still around. RIP Jerry Goldsmith.
@monkeywho I know, I was so disappointed and saddened that John Williams couldn't come full circle and finished the whole series. I'm sure he would've done an incredible job. RIP, Jerry Goldsmith. RIP Elmer Bernstein.
@davedirector7 well thats something. there was barely any music present at all in part 1. nothing memorable and i only ever heard a brief whisper once of the original theme
@davedirector7 no I'm not. John Williams created memorable motifs. There was nothing distinctive about the music in Deathly Hallows. Just standard tense or sad stuff and there original theme was barely there. Didn't even play at all in the end credits
@SG1Mitchell Alexandre Desplat's work was magnificent it really captures the mood of each character well and not to mention his work is perhaps the only one (not even counting Nicholas Hooper) that actually represents the new dark world in which Harry is in. The original theme was actually present in many of his pieces and also pieces from the other Harry Potter films conducted by John Williams were there as well.
