  • Cool. Don't forget about tweening to get smooth animation. You don't have to make only stop-motion style animations. You can also add glows (for the light), shadows and use images you've made in photoshop for any more advanced effects.

  • My flash advice is to generate your sprites in another program; flash is really great at manipulating a sprite once you get it in there (and the keyframe tool is your best friend!), but its drawing tools leave a lot to be desired. For the optimum 2D animating experience, I suggest generating your sprites in photoshop, most of your animations in flash, and your fancy effects shots in adobe imageready.
