Cool. Don't forget about tweening to get smooth animation. You don't have to make only stop-motion style animations. You can also add glows (for the light), shadows and use images you've made in photoshop for any more advanced effects.
My flash advice is to generate your sprites in another program; flash is really great at manipulating a sprite once you get it in there (and the keyframe tool is your best friend!), but its drawing tools leave a lot to be desired. For the optimum 2D animating experience, I suggest generating your sprites in photoshop, most of your animations in flash, and your fancy effects shots in adobe imageready.
