dont heat the column, in fact u should cool it down, its the temperature diference that make it work, so if u equal the temperature between chimney and captation field u decress the efeciency, point the mirror to the field, and study carnot cicle to machines and engines. nice efort keep the work.

why heat the column? shouldn't you heat the air on the surface of the ground?

Yeah the real-world ones work that way, they don't use mirrors or heat the column as the area under the canopy is plenty to drive it.

u have to heat the colum to get the air moving get it hot enough it rises and moves the fan thuse creating energy

it is kind of like the solar pipe in austraila just a different concept to it

@adrondube it should work like a gas-turbine, without burning fossil fuel (kerosene).The concentrated sun rays are heating the tube, the air expands rotating the turbine, the turbine is connected to the Compressor, it suck air in, then the cycle begins again.

I never thought of this idea, kinda like the solar chimney with all the glassed over land replaced by more heat. This one must be more efficient than the glass version!
