I just watched the first couple of episodes of Fairy Tail, and I did not like what I saw. It looked like the target audience of the anime were 10 year olds. Far too many magical girls themes with Erza and Lucy, where they kept repeating the same video sequence. Also for every action scene they first used the same attack clip followed by a still frame of the actual attack instead of just new dynamic video material. First having read the manga, the anime severely disappointed me.

One thing I like about Fairy Tail is that it doesn't milk the arc like many of the mainstream animes. It's straight to the point.

Most of the fights take like 1-3 episodes. The fights are epic too.

I just started reading the manga for this and watching the anime. It's actually very well done. I still like One Piece and Hitman Reborn more but that just might be cause I've been following them longer. It's still a great show though and I think everyone should at least watch the anime up until episode 5 if your not hooked by then you can move on.

@magnusLordN I do have to agree with ItsMe slightly, the anime was overall a dissapointing renditure of many of the Manga's aspects, the fights don't do it justice, some of the censorship makes no sense (In contest, censorship has Lucy wearing Cheerleader costume instead of Bunny Girl costume, making Natsu's later comment about Turtle and Hare make absolutly no sense, even Gajeel/Gazille had to point out that made no sense in the anime) still, it is decent overall, manga is kickass better though

There's like 25 eps so far, dubbing should start somewhere between 50 and 100, depending on how well the anime does. It should definitely be dubbed by 150 (if it's not finished by then), if not i owe you a soda... kay not really.

It's not the same creator though. Eiichiro Oda is the creator of One Piece and Hiro Mashima is the creator of Fairy Tail. Both creators were heavily influenced by Akira Toriyama(th creator of Dragon Ball), so that's why their styles are similar.
