Let me make something perfectly Clear!.. The World will change in our lifetime. There is Way to much going on around the world to think otherwise. Be prepared, why not,. Sometimes you mention these (BOB's) to people and they are all dumbfounded because its a new idea and foreign to them. Who cares, might as well be prepared. And Please, 72 hours is Rubbish! Plan for items that will keep you Alive for as long as any situation will be. Criticl thinking will come into play then and later. PACK WELL

I would agree if you can manage to break the 72 hr supplies that's great but i think the concept of 72hr bag is more geared to giving 72hrs to find safe grounds/more food/water etc... and not around the concept that if you make 72hr alive you're in the clear...

@lttlboom The only practial thing I can think that would help you past 72hrs is a .22 rifle and a few hundred rounds for hunting small game. This would especially help me with my two small chidren where I cant pack large loads of food. I just think ammo is the most important thing for a long term situation.

@boyfat1997 I try to get discounts on all my items & I keep updating my BOB so I can say the total cost. The black back I got in Korea for $35 back in the early '90s but its pretty high quality & probably costs $200+ just for the bag.

yeah people if martial law comes and asks to take away your guns you would probably not want to resist. Do as you're told but they probably wont check you for pepper spray or tazers. Carry those with you incase you loose your guns.

I've had my bug out bag for years! Good thing, too...

Just a few weeks ago, we were hit with 3ft of snow & I lost power for 4 days....Thanks to my BOB, I was able to eat hot food, make soup, have some tea...etc.

Grabbed my little Esbit Stove, grabbed my canteen cup, and checked out what I had stocked up in the pantry....Man, I was eatin' like a king! LOL

You just never know when you might need some survival gear. Even in your own home!

I have used my bug-out-bags in real world situations where me and my family had to evacuate due to flooding overseas.

The ppl who had egg on their face were those who did not have a bob and had to rely on others charity so they could provide for their family.

Secondly thats not a bug out bag, but a first aid kit or a disaster relief kit. Bug out bag is for these clowns thinking there is going to be an economic collapse or rioting in every city and that have to escape the city and think they have to survive on their own in the woods for weeks. LOL

@Aubreytrike A lot of people will make a BOB and use them to bug in their homes. Though they tend to make bigger BOB's if they are going to bug into their house.
