  • This is so cool I love seeing abandoned theme parks and stuff because I am weird like that loOl! Wish I lived in the USA so many cool places compared to the UK. I subscribed

  • I hear it opens and closes sporadically.

  • The place looks to be in relatively good condition so I hope this new owner that bought the park and it's debt can get it up and running again.

  • I remember being there with my family in the 70's. My Brother, Sister and I loved it. We drank sarsaparilla in the Red Dog Solon and we pretended to be Daniel Boon in Fort Cherokee. We met the actor that played Daniel Boons Son in the series. Great memories.

  • Ghost town is actually being purchased tomorrow by Alaska Presley, who helped the park get started 50 years ago.

  • oh my god...i had so many awesome memories there...I think i will go there again soon and snoop as you have just for the hell of it. unfornunatly i get waaay to nostalgic and would probably burst out into tears because that was one of my favorite places to go and have fun as a child...ghost town is now a literal ghost town :(

  • Pretty cool! I spent almost all of pre-teen and teenage summers in Maggie Valley where Ghost Town is located. You will find that most peop-le down there are like the security guard. They are very friendly people. Ghost Town usually opens again each summer used to be each May). If you get the chance and it is open you check it out when it is operating.

  • What an amazing place that used to be and it is in such good shape.

  • That makes me sad when i was 7 i remember eating food and riding that swing thing and the chair lift! :-(

  • it closed because there wasn't enough money to keep it funding, they also had to much troubles to get the roller coaster working, they couldn't get the trams to take people up there also im a resident of Waynesville (nieghoring city) believe me i know lol

  • The best one yet, loved it! Yes I want to know why it closed does not look too run down thus far, very cool place. Nice the dude was not an asshole to you guys.

  • wow! what a trip! I'm going to have to do a search on this place and find out when and why it closed.

  • Passed it on the way to dollywood I live in nc I never went though

  • I went to this park as a kid, and it is sad to see it sitting abandoned like this. Thanks for posting this video though.

  • Hell yeah I actually went there when I was a kid.. thats over by Cherokee right?

  • WOW, what a blast from the past. I was about 12 years old the last time I saw the place. FYI, that was in 1975. Still looks the same with the exception of a new ride or two.

  • i have been there but it was right across the street we went tubing. isnt that maggie valley north carolina????

  • Why did they abandon iT?

  • @RoughRiderElk It was abandoned because of money issues and they were having a hard time with keeping the rides up to code as well some of the rides were inspected and were found to be unsafe a few years back and they had to raise lots of money just for the repairs of those rides.

  • awesome

  • Great job on this video! Thank you for making it. It's so sad that really cool places like this are abandoned. I can almost hear the fading echoes of laughter. Too bad you had to walk all that way up the mountain - just on the other side of the mountain is a fully functioning escalator...

    ( Just Kidding )

  • the chick is hot!

  • it was awesome riding those rides way up at the top of that mountain.....burned in my childhood memory bank! wish the kids nowadays could experience it

  • can't believe ghost town in the sky is now abandoned! what the hell!!!! my father took me there several times when i was a child....guess i'm getting old!!

  • This place was a MAJOR part of my childhood. Been there so many times and to see it desolate and and broken down truly breaks my heart.

  • That place looks really good, they could definitely keep it running again.

  • P.S. I have a suggestion. You could go to ABANDONED river country in florida. It was closed sometime in 2001. It is at the disney resort in florida.

  • @TheFunluver101 They did.

  • @fancysnake1 I know I just realized that!! :P :)

  • This video is amazing, just like all of your other videos :)

  • Super cool! You do what I only day dream about doing. Love it!! I have an insane curiosity for exploring places like that but I also have anxiety and would never be able to do it for fear of "getting in trouble". Thanks for sharing your experience! I stumbled on this while searching ski lift accidents. I ski, but then there's my anxiety..... : )

  • You need to get your arse further up north to see the lost stuffs of VA, DC, PA, NY, and KY!

  • I've driven by Ghost Town in the Sky a number of times on my way to visit friends who live in nearby Cullowhee, but I've never been there when the place was open. It's a shame that so many regional parks like this have gone by the wayside. Maggie Valley had high hopes for this place a few years ago, too.

  • Thanks for this video. I was one of the male vocalists in the Silver Dollar Saloon in the Summer of 2007, and part of 2008. I was also a gunfighter occasionally and got to narrate the gunfights. It was a fun place to work.

  • Great Video! I have some great memories of this place. Many times going up the charilift I often wondered about how great it would be to walk up one time at least. Seeing Ghost Town here like I have never seen it before. Good Work!

  • Well thanks for the video. I am very involved with the park and look forward to reopening it soon. Would love to have you come back and help us take the new park viral. Robert Bradley, the original Apache Kid and your tour guide is one of the best folks around and he will definately be back.... See you on the mountain.....

  • agree more info on these places would aweeeeeeesome

  • I remember going there on a family vacation. I didn't know the place had closed. I remember riding the tram up the mountain with my Mom who is afraid of heights.... Lol

  • she is so cute, love the hat! :)

  • glad they have security at this place, at least that is one way to prevent vandals and tagging. now when did this park close?

  • @larmindy1 The park's last season of operation was 2009.

  • Thanks Adam and Jinger for another great urbex! You guys rock! :D

  • that roller coaster was called the red devil... then the new owners painted it yellow... the paint blew down the mountain and ruined like 150 cars!!

  • home sweet home many good memories here!!!

  • people that patrol or own these places should be honored to have their abandoned places explored by the woo!!!!!!

  • we had our high school graduation at ghost town in 1985, that used to be a really neat place, ind its just went to nothing over the years, i remeber when my parents took me up there back when i was growing up in waynesville, its hard to believe what its came to now a days, compared to what it used to be.

  • Love the work you do! The guard was the Apache Kid! I'm from FL, so I enjoy your older adventures, and have lived in East TN and West NC, so your current adventures have really piqued my love of SBNO parks!

  • I hope thats not your girl...cuz I like her bum!...I like it a lot

  • So this place is called Ghost town and now it's actually a ghost town. Oh the irony.

  • Love your videos, Adam! Very adventurous of you.. kudos to your lady friend for the piano skills, that was awesome. Keep filming, man... it keeps me coming back to you tube.

  • OMG she plays piano like a boss.

  • My family and I rent a cabin once a year at Jonathan Creek right next to this place. Never thought of going up to see this place, too much of a walk.

  • Oooh! I live in NC and I've passed by that place many times when taking trips up to the mountains and I've always wondered what it was like!

  • My parents took us on 'vacation' there in the 70's and it seemed just about as hokey as I remember from your tour. can't believe that fellow still guards the place. Who pays him? Free rent? anyway, imagine how spooky at night with wind howling. Alone? no way!

  • Yes this is the best and yes, I was pleasantly surprised !!! The productions are alot better since Jinger joined the crew.

  • Amazing, the adventure into Knott's shall be sometime soon

  • Read the history of the park, It's pretty amazing, Too bad it closed :/

  • classic Woo amazing

  • epic

  • So....why was he even up there to begin with?

  • cool guard @4:55 , i guess 5000 ft of high mountains keeps out the scrappers

  • wow, a security guard that isnt a total jerk? thats about just as incredible as the park you guys just went to! thats for taking us along! :)

  • thats so awesome good job :)

  • Park closed to July 24, 2010.

That's an old GoGurt/Fizzix ad from yesteryear at 4:42 on the park map.

  • @rescuehero942 nooooooooo!!!!! I just found it!!! and I has a sad :(

  • When I went skiing last year, we passed this place and I wondered what it was. Thanks

  • That firetruck and the hearse are worth some big bucks.

  • that guy's awesome! It's weird, even if they didn't want to use it as a theme park, couldn't they use the old west town as like a film location? looks pretty good for that kind of thing. Anyway, awesome Job :)

  • Thanks for this video, Adam. Went to this park way back in 82. I always wanted to go back, but I see that is now impossible.

  • I love love LOVE your videos... but I do have one small suggestion: the places you show are AMAZING, but I find myself wishing I knew more about the history of the places, and when & why they closed. I think a lot of these incredible locations would mean even more, at least to me, if I understood more about how they came to stand empty. Just a thought, from a humble viewer who would do NOTHING to discourage you from making more videos. :)

  • @NightAire I agree completely.

  • @NightAire I have to agree. I love all the vids to the point where I check my subscriptions just for Adam but I find myself googling, wiki-ing, and mapping just to get the real deal on the history.

  • @NightAire A cool thing to do is to see if Wikipedia has any articles on these places. I found a couple of them on there with information on how they came to be closed.

  • @dan1216 Good point. :)

  • wonder if they selling this or just going to leave it to rot away ..amazing to know there are places out there like this yet not too many people know

  • LOVE THE VIDS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK,THANKS

  • This is so cool there is an abandon hotel by where I live but I don't think I have the guts to explore it mabye u should come and do it lol

  • Awesome! I can't believe you got away scott-free!

  • why is there still merchandise in the store?

  • @TylerTremallose because no one stole it yet? and they carry guns up in the carolinas
