Αnd some say he didnt had technique, assholes who can create sound like that and have the technique in the same time, there will be one and only one Segovia whether you like it or not he was and is still the King
Andres Segovia... How many people have you inspired by your talent, innovations and dedication? You have played a great role in my life. And for that, I shall be forever grateful.
@Oisselapathos No! He was millions of years old. That's why he could play the way he did. Only one who is that old could possibly play that way. We're all just snot nosed brats and HE is and always will be the grandmaster. It will never change! He came from light years away to educate us all. WE SUCK!!!
@Jonlemaar Before him the spanish guitar was different, they made it bigger and harder to press because was needed a stronger sound for the concert rooms...
Also spanish guitar has many chords and you use all fingers, electric guitar has many scales... and that is all.
I love paco de lucia,,clapton,,,vai,,jimmi,,,but,,,,i never heard a guitarist play like this,,,,he is the best ever,,,,just the flow is smooth,,,godddd
When you play the music that people compose and played, you actually get in their thought, you can virtually feel them.. and they become eternal whit it, as long as there is someone to devote to their work.
One feels transported by the beauty...sublime!.. I was so very fortunate to see Segovia in concert when I was a student in the early '70's-- a memory of a lifetime... On the other side of the musical coin, I also saw Hendrix!
Yes, I am definitely old fashioned. Andres Segovia has been dead these many years. See my remarks about other old favourites of mine Mi caro amigo Pablo.
Magic. I would love to have attended a concert and heard him in person. Same with Caruso and Gigli of course and Chaliapin and Paul Robeson. I could go but I did get to see the Folies Bergeres.or a close facsimile.
Any sort of music. Does not talent belong to an especial style but it belongs to musicians. This piece is badly played in this video. The guitar sounds weak and simple...It sounds with Segovia´s style. Femalish...Dull...Mozart couldn´t stop yawning if he had listened that.
absolutely incredible. those last two 'licks' he picks every note with his fingers the first time, they cut angles, and then he sweep picks with his thumb the second time. hes just showing off at that point. ridiculous.
his tone is incredible, he really feels the music. he never just plays a piece mechanically. makes me wish there were video of him playing Recuerdos de la Alhambra...
I wanna see any other guitar player do this all the "cool" guitar players who do "incredible" guitar solos do just because they have amps. I'll respat them when they can play a acoustic guitar like this.
He plays so well and relaxed it makes one wonder if he could play guitar without hands.
I think he could put every rock guitarist to shame. He smoked those frets and then ever so casually, leans back in his chair as if to say: "Tag! Your it!".
i love him. i consider it impossible that young upcoming artists like jung can play masterpieces, they are too young, they can not feel the emotions which you need to have felt in order to make for your self sound music.
Rock guitarist!?sry, but i never heard something stupid like that..
I see you dont know anything about classical music.. Couse if you were, im quite sure you wouldnt speak of "best rock guitarist
The diffrence between the master and peoeple like you is not a matter of taste, its just matter of knowledge. And today, unfortunately couse of meny people that listen garbage, the real music becomes forgotten and less worth..
your comment was best rated so i was able to see it when i enter this video. i realy dont like when peoeple come to not smart conclusions.. Im sorry for reply, its just stupid of me, i get it now..
@MondoBeno What about electric guitarists who have achieved just as much in their own domain? You are right to say he mastered the guitar in his own way, but don't contradict yourself by saying he could outplay (whatever that means) the best rock guitarists. He could not. Many of the best electric guitarists currently can perform classical recitals fluently, yet are also well versed in jazz improvisation. I invite you to examine in depth the art of such masters as Shawn Lane.
Thats depressing (in a sense that as a guitarist it would be easier to eat with my asshole and shit out of my mouth than to ever play like Segovia) yet inspiring all at once. I am honored to be able to divulge in such virtuosity. Truly makes other masters look like ass masters.Bravo!
i feel the same way. i got a good advise for you: practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practic, practice and you can get as good.

Nowadays the musicians without talent have found a refuge in the Jazz to his lack of talent. Andrés Segovia found it in the classical music.

I think he did that to exploit the 'mute' effect from the pad of his thumb... But you are right, that was jaw dropping-ly incredible.
naterjack001 3 years ago 2
In a segment I saw, a student played a piece perfectly. Segovia said it was all wrong due to the
fingering. I wondered... So after some more study,
I realized that if Segovia picks, he picks. If he sweeps, he sweeps. That is just one of many standard's the maestro held himself to.

his tone is incredible, he really feels the music. he never just plays a piece mechanically. makes me wish there were video of him playing Recuerdos de la Alhambra...
