i see his father have learned him much but felix is so good he are in the step where he learn his own teknik.. really good historie about there music familly
The discipline and heart of the one and only Jaco Pastorius is just not something that one inherits. Felix has talent on that instrument.....no question. It is so unfair that everyone (me included) want so much to see Jaco living and breathing in him. Felix is his own bass player and any comparisons to his father are just unfortunate.
Would love to hear this in full quality. He is incredibly talented. His balance and poise are exceptional. Bass is so much more than mechanics. I just think of all the emotion and life experience that he's playing with his own voice. Massive thumbs up Felix.

Felix is great in his own right. I kind of feel for him though, because I'm sure alot of people out there are comparing him to his father - and those shoes are just too big to fill. Felix is awesome at bass, and I am really happy he is continuing his family legacy. Way to go!

Why the fuck has someone given my last message thumbs down? It's true, and the idiot that did it...instead of doing that, why didn't you just answer the question I put instead?
I hope that everyone will just let these cats be themselves. If you have an opportunity to check Felix in action, you will see that he has his own gift. (gift and curse to be the son of a genius and innovator) Nonetheless, music is in their blood.
Some that come out to see him live are just plain ***-holes who just wont let it go! There is no indication whatsoever that they live off of their father's name but if that was the case,,,,, so effin what!!!!!!!??? They are rightful heirs.
It's weird who you meet on your holidays, and while in Orlando, I met a musician who was in a band with Felix Pastorius years ago (or so he told me). He said 'He is an asshole who lives off his fathers name', which to me, is open to interpretation. What does everybody else think?
Thanks for the reply. You're the first person to actually bother. I was never dissing him, but my msg received alot of thumbs down. All I wanted was some feedback. I think if he did want to 'live off his fathers name' he would've talked shit about him and made some cash that way rather than learn to play the bass to a high standard like he has done. If I had the chance, I'd go and see him, but I'm in the UK.
hahaha u have experienced first hand u-tube rape, that is, a bunch of ignorant assholes saying fuck ur opinion. I reckon felix cant get away from his fathers legacy even if he wanted to but the man has chops and really can get a groove going. He plays somewhat like his father but has a real different tone and feel going - more lively and fun i reckon
he really does sound very different from his father's playing.. honestly i prefer his style compared to his dad's.. ^_^ but props to both.. Felix and Jaco

Felix definitely inherited Jaco's hand size.. I remember going to a music store in NYC across from Manny's and in the bass room was a pic of Felix holding his newly purchased bass (from the store) with his left hand stretched out... his hand's practically got arms coming outta the palm.. lol.
I met Felix at a music festival a couple of years back and he couldn't have been more warm and gracious. And he seemed to handle the heavy legacy that he carries very well.

Not to make a diss, but this the only time I've seen one the the Pastorius lads playing a bass that wasn't a fander jazz. Of course, I could understand if the Pastorius clan had a life time endorsement deal with Fender - deservedly.
