Hey love the video. Did you just use a tripod for your camera? And if so, how did you stabilize it? I just recently purchased a canon hd camera and I went flying today with it and let me say it is very hard to fly and take stable video at the same time lol
Not sure what's causing the little crackles... it wasn't in the earlier videos. I'm pretty sure its something from my headset, because even when I don't have the camera plugged in if I listen very carefully, its almost inaudible, I can hear the little crackles. It's at John Wayne Airport.
thanx I have a choice to fly ether both but two different schools so i am going with the DA-20 for now the 40 is 65 dollars more... how much and easy for the video set up?
The problem is that I only have time to fly on the weekends (because of school), and if the weather doesn't hold up - It was horrible the past few weeks - that adds up to a lot of time on the ground. I'd like to be able to fly more, but the circumstances suck
Can't say on the 172... never flown one. DA20 and the DA40 are different, but not by miles. My guess is the ease of transitioning from the 20 to the 40 would depend largely on your experience as a pilot. The 40 has G1000 avionics, constant speed prop, two fuel tanks, different Vspeeds. Oh yeah, it costs more to rent too :-) DA-40 is a great little plane though, I think the DA-20 is better suited to primary instruction, there's just less going on in the cockpit.
From what I've heard from my instructors is that the DA-40 is actually easier to fly (in terms of checklist procedures and instrumentation) than the DA-20, but since I haven't been able to fly it yet I can't confirm that.
@notar1 I've flown all three planes, while I was learning, and I rent the DA20 occasionally. To me, the main difference is the stick. I don't like the Cessna sticks, they feel like you're playing flight simulator. The DA20 has an actual stick, like a WWII fighter pilot would use. Other than that, the Diamond models seem to be designed to be for a recreational pilots, and students. To me, the Cessna is more a student plane.
Got the message about the mooney, I wasn't working that day! Sorry... did you have your checkride today? My trainee was training all day so I may have heard you when I was training him
nope, not yet, still waiting to hear back on date for the checkride, hopefully I can get it soon! I'm going back out tomorrow morning for some more solo practice if the weather holds up!
Yea goodluck on your checkride. I'm sure you'll get it done right. That would have been awesome to capture that mooney on video with you talking to tower. Man was he lucky you called so fast.
So wake turbulence from the Alaskan jet taking off on 19R isn't a concern?
