A lot of music is based on previous works. I'm sure Hubbard made this one partly in tribute to those he artists he liked himself. Otherwise I think this song wouldn't have been created in the first place.
Rob, Jeroen and all others are god to me... I listen all theirs songs in original. Which is SID-formatted. Pure geniuses those were . Live long and prosper... I only hope, taht they were perform these tunes in Finland. But i know they arent..
I was about to say the same thing. My high opinions for Rob Hubbard dropped when I heard the original by Philip Glass, makes you wonder what else Hubbard ripped without crediting the original artist. :(
In my opinion Delta music is much more "inspired" than "ripped off". Of course it's a fine line but I've been listening to Koyaanisqatsi a lot since I discovered it and I think that the difference is big enough to silence the ripping accusations.
I think it follows Koyaanisqatsi very closely indeed. The difference will probably be big enough to prevent legal claims, so it will not be ripping, but it is clear that the tune originated in someone else's mind. Both people deserve credit: one creating it, the other for modifying to to perfection...
This particular rendition goes back towards Koyaanisqatsi, negating a lot of changes for Delta. Therefore, I must say THIS version falls short IMHO. Do Delta FAST or do Koyaanisqatsi instead!
Well, Master of Magic is technically a rip-off of one of the tracks on Audion by Synergy (I think it's "Ancestors" or "Shibolet"), but he actually takes the theme and does something more interesting with it.
What a fantastic performance of the composition. I hope C64 Orchestra get more exposure from this! Do they have any material on CD/MP3 to buy/download?
Nice - this retake gets the delta theme back to it's original roots, Philip Glasses' Koyaanisqatsi. by the way not the only time Glass was converted into a c64 game tune - parallax had a Koyaanisqatsi tune too

where's my sid player... where's the original delta sid tune... i need that now. never ever heard such a lame version like this here BAH shame on them how could they rape that tune this brutal and disgusting way?
very simple, this song was orchestrated by rob hubbard himself, the one posted here actually. So, good to hear you find rob's new orchestration disgusting
True Story: for my final-year composition in high-school, I plagiarised the "Delta" theme, as I had left my schoolwork to the last minute (girls, drinking, going out were the main factors). I took a chance that none of my highschool music teachers had ever heard this tune before, essentially transcribed the tune by ear (didn't take long as I have Absolute Pitch) and handed the score in for assessment.
I wish that there was a professional recording made of this... Without the background noise.

I heard that song from Philip Glass yesterday, and.. "but... wtf.. seems Delta" O_O.
Very similar indeed.
GTElwood 3 years ago
I agree, very similar but probably because its a classical version... I have heard some great remixes of the Delta theme on the KWED website

yeah LOL if you played the delta theme on an organ you'd think it was a variation of koyaanisqatsi... the ingame music to this game was badass though

In the mail i received from them they stated that the cd/dvd will be out around early november. Eagerly waiting :)

tfal: Then you're really lucky, as Hubbard's Delta Theme heavily plagiarises Philip Glass's score to Coppola's Classic "Koyaanisqatsi".
