That's not Mercury. That's water vapor. Mercury vapor is almost 7 times more dense than air and would "sink" considerably. Composite is much more expensive and will lead to FAR greater loss of tooth structure than will amalgam. The next time you think your dentist is trying to con you out of a fortune for an amalgam filling, think again. Just a sidenote: the only people who stand to make any money off public Mercury scares are -- guess who? -- these guys. The dentists who push for composite.

@chemdent421 you obviously don't know your science to have said that. This experiment has not been refuted and when rubbed, the mercury vapour is released to a greater extent. Mercury vapour does travel upwards into the brain too. Your disinformation here won't fool anyone. Dentists placing composite fillings charge the same price so those who don't agree with mercury, are honest & aren't butchers ruining lives. New composites last much longer than mercury, which weakens enamel & falls out.

@chemdent421 my dentist places mercury and composites and said the new composite is stronger and was not expensive. He also ruined the last 10 years of my life due to mercury amalgam poisoning, and as a result I have lost two careers and the chance of a future or marriage. But he won't admit what scientists have been saying for ages, but I am not surprised, because future lawsuits against government and dentists would cost billions. Thanks to dentists for ruining my, and other people's lives
