  • Mistake. It's right on the last parts of the video.

  • Richard Childress Was In The 3 Car On That Day!!!!!

  • Childress was such a driver, and started his first race as a replacement.

By 1971, Childress began racing on the top level as an independent driver, using the number 3 as a tribute to Junior Johnson's past as a driver. Although he never won as a driver, he proved to be excellent behind the wheel registering six top-5, seventy-six top-10 finishes, with a career-best of third in 1978. His last race was 1981 Winston Western 500 (Riverside).

  • Is this storm that rained at daytona is the same storm that snowed in the east coast?

  • From Wikipedia: "The day was fortunate for CBS as a major snowstorm known as the Presidents Day Snowstorm of 1979 bogged down most of the Northeast and parts of the Midwestern United States, increasing the viewership of the event. The race introduced two new innovative uses of TV cameras: The "in-car" camera and the low angle "speed shot", which are now considered standard in all telecasts of auto racing."

  • Yes, it was...it was one of those "Nor'easter"-type storms that effects the entire Eastern Seaboard from Maine to Miami in a significant way.
