  • damn his gf has a big ass

  • mortensen is still a fucking beast

  • he had a very big chip lead, he wanted a call....to win the main event 50 50 is good

  • Open ended sfd with the possibility of 2 overs pretty standard shove imo

  • poker looks like a joke.

  • Televised poker got a LOT better right after this... when they introduced the POCKET CAM.

  • stupid play head to head and short stack with pocket aces...surely you go all in pre flop ???

  • So frustrating to lose with pocket Aces. You gotta kinda feel bad for Dewey, but both are excellent poker players. But Carlos had a good drawing hand, and so the aces got cracked. You just can't win them all and luck is a factor!

Besides, if there was no luck involved Phil Hellmuth would win them all LOL

  • looks like poker was a circus 10 years ago oh and worst commentators ever

  • Where can I get a Beta Max copy?

  • lol @ flush draw and open ender being a 3-1 dog on the turn

  • @AshmoreLikesMen It is a 3-1 dog on the turn. When Juan Carlos got his money in it's pretty much a coin flip so when the commentator states that Dewey's aces look much stronger he's talking crap.

  • @Alceste1977 i agree--the stats obvious don't matter on the turn, when they both shoved after the flop. I think both players played their hands perfectly fine on this hand really. Up and down straight draw and flush draw vs. bullets. Juan carlos didn't realize that he only had 13 outs after the flop, not 15, but that's still a coin flip at this stage of the hand which is all what matters. Heck Juan Carlos could've put him on something weaker like middle pair which would've added even more outs!

  • I can see why the discovery channel only covered the WSOP for 3 years.

  • @timcro2738

  • Was this really the year 2000? ahahhahahaa

  • 2000 a lucky 9

    2001 a lucky 9

  • @torax94 1987 a lucky 9

  • @NicksVideoDiary incredible

  • Thank god for Gabe Kaplan, Mike Sexton and Norman Chad

  • nice ass she have

  • the 3 of diamonds helps him? lol

  • @blaupunkt600 it helps him because there is only one more card to come, carlos was drawing, so the 3 of diamonds helps him a lot

  • @kristar31 dodging carlos' draw on the turn doesnt helps him directly

  • @blaupunkt600 Helps Dewey u mean? Absolutely it did, not sure if the commentator realised but it eliminated 2 outs for a river a-high straight, an ace now would give him a full house. So a 9 and only a 9 would save his ass.

  • @tqsuited well a 9 or any club except the ace. but youre right, the 3 eliminated 2 outs

  • @blaupunkt600 Lol whoops KQ clubs.. i thought it was just offsuited black cards- straight draw and 2 overs. Thats a pretty damn good flop for Carlos

  • @tqsuited lol yeah it definetly was. actually it was a coinflip as they went all in

  • We've come a looooooooong way in short time, haven't we?

  • sounds like an old educational video

  • Ignoring the fact this was videoed in 1974 evidently it is a bit of a cooler to lose on. Mort though has a blinder flop; what's he got 9 clubs 3 aces and 3 nines to draw too. He is a statistical favourite to win this hand after that flop.

  • Who's the broad?

  • Wow, watch WSOP 2000 and see a 9 come out and cloutier get beat!

  • i didnt look those ases so strongs, in fact i prefer the K Q of clubs jaja..

  • this video is so fucked lol , why does this look likes its 40 years

  • the video is from 2001 ...why does it look like it is from the 77' main event?

  • isnt better to be good and lucky?

  • fuckin carlos got lucky , better be lucky than good thats for sure

  • open ended straight draw + flush draw against an overpair. it's 50-50. even against a set its 40-60

I suggest you get "odds for dummies"

  • I suggest you shut the fuck up.

  • @RepNorthCali I suggest you go go pwnd somewhere else lol

  • comentator sounds like he was high

  • Wow, the commentry on this is horrible.

  • this hand pretty much played itself

  • the x4 x2 trick works but even though carlos had 14 outs tomko had the rest of the cards which is more than 30 outs so tomko was ahead

  • Looks like 1986 or something...

  • it was damn near a 50/50 learn to play before commenting retard

  • 50k is nothing to him

  • the video makes the wsop look like wsop 1980

  • I would have done the same as Carlos, all in with a flush draw and straight draw on the flop.

  • wow this annoucer is pretty thmart (lol). the three on the turn only eliminates the two aces buddy can hit for the straight cuz other guy will boat it. theres no way he was 33%, a 3rd grader could figure that out.

  • he wasnt 33% , he was 25%. Flush draw & straight draw , you dumbfuck.

  • omg the commentary sucked horribly before lon and chad came along

  • still sucks with them but this is worse!

  • Yes the turn card is relevant, the 2 aces left in the deck aren't outs anymore and the fact that it was any card that wasn't one of Mortensens outs is a huge deal too. But yes, that announcer is a moron.

  • You're exactly right, but I'm sure the announcer didn't know that :D

  • that's right,& this guy sure isn't Mike Sexton..lol

  • lol @ the announcer.... first saying Aces were "much stronger" when its 50/50, then saying the 3 helped Dewey because it "gives him a second pair"... lol totally irrelevant.

  • not true, the second pair does help, it reduces the outs i.e. 3 of clubs or ace of clubs is not longer any good to complete a flush as it would give a full house

  • Okay 2 less outs... thats really not what the announcer was getting at though.

  • Nemesis000000, your stupid comment just shows, what i allways thought. that most of the poker comment writers have got no clue of poker

  • Care to elaborate? I admitted it did give 2 less outs, but thats clearly not what the announcer was getting at.

  • Comment removed

  • just like the 2000 video this looks like a really old video not like something from this decade.

  • Poker on tv has come along way - this looks like it's from 1975.

  • no joke, bro. I MEAN WTF?!

  • yeah even 2003-4 looks old

  • when the commentator says "and the river....its a nine" i thought it was an irrelevant card the way he said it,,,I hate him!!!

  • this announcer is embarassing

  • The commentator is a jackass. This is 2001 but seems like 30 years ago they are that behind the times. Massive hand Carlos and totally correct play

  • Wow the 2000 2001 last hands of the WSOP were suckouts, yay

  • I take that back, I thought Carlos had gone all in preflop with QK of clubs. If he had gone all in on the flop then it was near dead even odds. He had a massive hand with two overcards, open ended straight draw, and flush draw, and I would go all in too with that. Definitely not a suckout like the 2000 WSOP final hand.

If Dewey just had a pair of 10s or pair of Jacks, then Carlos would be a 2:1 favorite. but it was about 50 50.

  • I dont think its 50/50. To get a str8 or flush he has 11 outs. 8 clubs (no ace of clubs)and 3 9's (because the 4th 9 is a club), he cant hit any ace because that makes full house. He CAN hit the ace of clubs, but then he needs the J of clubs too for a str8 flush. He can also get runner runner Q or K, but those % are like 3/45 (cards left in deck, 3 Q left) X 2/44th thats about 0

    Leaves us with 11 outs on 45 cards = 11/45 = 24.4% Its a suckout!

  • I ran the hand on a holdem calculator, Carlos had a 48.48% chance of winning, Dewey had a 51.52% chance of winning.

That's during the flop, the odds are obviously way different preflop and postflop.

  • That's after the flop yes, sry. But on the flop he has 14 outs. Isnt that 14 cards on 45 for the turn (31.1%) and 14 on 44 for the river ? Thats like 62% how the F** do they calculate these things? Is that minus the chances of the board pairing? Im glad I play on feeling, I cant calculate this.

  • An easy way to calculate the percentages is to count the outs and then after the flop, multiply X4. After the turn, multiply X2. It's not perfect. It can be off a couple of percentage pts but it's close enough. Mortensen was actually a slight favorite to win because he had 14 outs after the flop. That made him around 56% to win. Those announcers are horrible.

  • I hate this announcer

  • sry my bad 14 outs

  • what a bad beat for the 2nd staright year

  • Thats a coin flip.

  • coin flip after the flop anyway when they pushed.

  • after flop that was about even

  • WOW.. you have NO IDEA HOW TO PLAY POKER!!! HHAHHHHAHA EVEN?!?!?! LMFAO

  • After flop he had 15 outs count the percentages its about 52/48 if thats not about even what is? i think you have no idea how count odds or percentages.

  • flush draw dumbass

  • you're a bit confused. he has 10 outs. correct me if i'm wrong

  • 4 outs? get a clue pal.

had a had 14 outs on the flop and 11 outs on the river. Hardly a bad beat.

  • Missed the frush draw, looked like one was a spade.

  • frush draw? haha?

  • I'll take KcQc anyday over Aces on that flop.

  • thats the american dream

  • that bitch only wants the money

  • lmao

  • I agree .. but she has a great ass!

  • yea i dont realy care what she wants, i'd hit it.

(note i wouldn't GIVE HER whatever she wants.....)

  • Unpredictable

  • nice four outer

  • lol you are the dumbest motha fucker on earth. he had could have hit any club, or a 9

  • yeah the Ac and the Jc sure are winners.

    so... 10 outs.

Hmm agreed its not the 4 outer that Stuey 'Luck box' Ungar hit to win one of his titles.

  • i thought he just had straight draw i didnt see that they were suited, my bad

  • why does a 2001 film look like 1862?

  • I think these two players are both 2 of the more under rated players out there.

  • Agreed! Juan Carlos is not someone I'd want at my table. Too imaginative and too unpredictable. At one time, there were 3 major NLHE tournaments: the WSOP main event, Amarillo Slim's Super Bowl of Poker and Bob Stupak's championship at Vegas World. In 1982, Dewey finished 2nd in all 3 of them. He doesn't play too much anymore, but he's very tough. Doyle: "Dewey is absolutely one of the best poker players I have ever played with and is so underrated because he does not seek the spotlight."

  • who wouldn't push there with KQ suited? overcards to the board (possible K/Q outs), flush draw + 6 furthur outs to the straight.

  • i would dust his chick up the shitter, nince way to win the wsop, on the river cracking aces bet he thinks he played well lol

  • that was very good play flop open ender straight with 2 over cards and king high flush draw... he had like 17 outs until that 3 came on the turn to take away the 2 other aces

  • my point is he got all his chips in as an underdog and was very lucky on the river to win the WSOP

  • wow whats with the video (and some of the comments) trashing the push. Open ended straight draw with a flush draw AND two overs would dominate KJ AJ QJ, which is definitely in the other guys range.

Even against aces its only 51.5 to 48.5% in aces favor. Id make that push alllll day.

  • Actually it was a pretty even heat going to the turn and river, Mortensen had an OESD and a Flushdraw.

  • how come i havent heard of juan carlos? was he a one hit wonder or get caught stealing hub caps?

  • carlos mortenson is the name uve probaly heard

  • Dewey is sweet!! To bad he ran into some horrible flops in his 2 times of being runner up, and being the HUGE favorite pre-flop.

  • aces in 5days? only a donkey will belive him

  • do you play much poker? ive been on runs not seeing aces for weeks

  • Funny how the commentators talks like Carlos is crushed and in shock after seeing he's up against aces... what did they think he though? That he was ahead with king high?

  • damn that chick has a nice ass! man, poker has come a long way!

  • carlos girl got a pretty nice rack

  • In 2006, he and his wife, fellow poker player Cecilia Reyes Mortensen, were divorced.

  • anyone know y this vid looks so old when its not??

  • That announcer is HORRIBLE! What's his name? Poker has come a LONG way in 7 years.

  • sounds like the announcers are speaking with no ethusiasm and are speaking to an audience with no idea what is going on. things have changed lol. nice background music too

  • Yeah it was 2001. Phil Hellmuth came 5th and Mike Mattusow 6th.

  • This is 2001 but it looks like 1980.

  • not really.. definitely could be 90s though. u have to check out the 2000 wsop final hand vid, same user, now that looks really ancient lol

  • It's weird how footage from only 6-7 years ago looks old compared to nowadays :D

  • poker...

    simply the best

  • KQ suited was the favourite 14 outs = 51.2% to win

  • yup

  • 13 outs: nine clubs, one non club ace plus three non club nines, good hand though and still a small favourite

  • wrong.

aces had 51.52% and KQ only 48.48%

    pretty much a coinflip

  • lol that's wrong iunno the percentages but aces are higher

  • Aces are better than king high you cretin.

  • Dewey is a class act all the way. I think he's great for the game.

  • Qué grande fue, impresionante!!La suerte de los campeones. Rafael Moreno win World Series of Poker 2008

  • Mortenson is not "devastated" to see AA. These hands are about equal at the flop, in fact, if you put it into a poker calculator, you'll see that the KcQc is more likely to win than the AA, with that flop on the board. Both players made the obvious and simple moves dictated to them by their cards, after that, it was basically like flipping a coin.

  • if carlos didnt put him on aces he thought that with 2 overcards, an open ended straight and a flush draw he would be in pretty good shape... why not put him all-in?

  • mortenson had him owned on chip count, why not go for the flush?

  • these commentators are shit..but not as shitty as ali nejad from poker after dark..that guy is shit

  • Crappy way to lose. He had him.

  • these commentators are fucking garbage

  • like fuckin fihing commentators- 'and he caught a samon', so shitty
