ur right....Shawn was a sweet human. I knew him well and worked with him off and on over the years. he was generous and patient with others players..... really humble.... much less amazed by his talent than we were.
@ExternalTooth I knew Shawn when he was 15 years old and I was about 18 maybe. We came up together in Memphis and then I became a record producer in Nashville and I used him on a record. Miss him being here.
@ExternalTooth Wow, you are lucky to have met him. I am extremely jealous, no joke. He became my favorite guitarist the moment I watched the first video of him I found on youtube. He inspires me to keep practicing.
I was so lucky to have met Shawn and gotten the chance to hang out with him for a couple of hours when he was in Burlington,Vt. He was a nice person with a great sense of humor, and very well read. His skills on the guitar are still keeping people in awe, and thanks to youtube, younger players and music enthusiasts are able to enjoy the fruits of his labor. RIP Shawn.
@DogCatchersBand love youtube for that very reason! his musicianship is untouchable and everytime i go back this or any shawn vid it still keeps me guessin and on the edge of my seat.

idk if you could say he was underrated cuz the people who do know him looove his music,, but he definitely did not get the publicity and popularity that he deserved,, this dude is a beast and hes a huge inspiration
The shred mill clan of black belt guitarist say there is fast playing and then there is Shawn lane a meaning full faster warped speed...Since he has passed, In the hands of the right mind, It would be necessary to invent the hands and wrist with arm mechanics on a talent to become the worlds first bionic guitarist..Making him better than he was before... Better... Stronger... Faster
@jsthere2watchvideos because now we have internet and youtube. he was mostly very underground until recently. now his soul has won over millions of us mere mortals from all over the planet. Deepest respects to Shawn from Bangladesh.

Let us not forget that Lane was a gifted piano player as well.
Otherwise he was an astonishing guitar player.
