I would have marched them towards the Romans slowly rather than running, then let them rest for a bit. Then I would have engaged the Roman infantry with the minimum force possible to engage them, whilst fanning out my line to outflank them. Whilst this happened my cavalry would get to the side to counter-attack any Roman cavalry assault. The wings of my infantry would them envelope the Roman infantry and force a cavalry attack, which I would then immediately annihilate with my own cavalry.

ok in my opinion:

1st. you should not have sent your infantry in to the enemy, just because you're tired your army, would be the minimum that you would send them up to half of the field, walking to the minimum possible to get bored. 2nd. after having done what I said above, you should have put, just the beginning, the cavalry in a strategic place, eg the side of the map for when he will attack the infantry, the cavalry attacked from the sides, thus making a total annihilation

Bothe armies, 'specially the Julii, are composed of sword infantry and cavalry only, not a single longer range missile unit in sight, and when he attacked he let his elit lead the charge and take the full hit from the pila instead of using his Scutarii as fodder, then he make a cav charge straight into an obvious pinch. Thus my comment.

@nafaidni well no, he had 2 lins of bull warriors the elite and heaviest soldiers in the spainsh army available on Rome Total war, but really tbh with normal stats only outmatches the legionaires for attack stat by a few points whatever, but the CL has Pratorians the elite bodyguard of Caesar'/s, Emperors. and Pratorian Cav, either way, he would lose no matter what tactic actually.

Okay you were stupid. The reasons?

1) You charged right into it (Romans always win on a field of their choosing) and should have had his troops come to you.

2)aggressive tactics (NOT good when fighting romans head on. break them, THEN run them down).

3) You didn't have troops flank them when you could (such as when they're marching, they don't have their troops in position for attacks).

And over all you just had POOR LEADERSHIP! I'd certainly not follow you into battle.

Your cavalry was sleeping when roman cav was ravaging in the center. Your cav could have been used to flank the romans from both sides. I am just beginner, i wonder why no one used pikes. I think they are best infantry.

question to all the tech/comp. guys out there, my game installs and plays fine but sometimes during and immediately after battles and randomly on the Campaign map the game exits out and says "a problem has caused the program to stop working" it also does this on Medieval 2 as well, i tried installing them again and same thing. only thing i did was edit the files to play as Macedon and all the basic factions at the beginning of both games. any ideas what could be wrong?
