@RedTailedTuna He is known as the "Gracie Hunter" due to his wins over four members of the famed Gracie family including Royler Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Ryan Gracie, and Royce Gracie. (wikipedia) but eventually in 2010 one of the Gracies broke the combo and defeated him. It was Royce's nephew Ralek Gracie
@gunfighterdrummer Yes. There was actually supposed to have been a “super fight” rematch between Gracie and Bravo at last years’ ADCC championships. Bravo talked about it on the Joe Rogan pod cast, and basically said that Gracie initially agreed, but then began demanding too much money. If he won Gracie would have gotten $25,000, but then supposedly demanded $50,000 just to show up. The promoters refused to pay the $50,000 thus the fight never took place, according to Bravo.
So he says you "need to know" BJJ in order to keep going successfully in MMA, i am guessing that's a 2 way street, right? Wouldn't you say the same for the other arts? i mean don't you also need to know how to strike? put it this way, how far could one get in MMA if he/she only knew BJJ ALONE? And i am talking today's MMA, not 1993's Royce Gracie MMA.
@kanguesso in todays mma game we are at the peek if you only had bjj alone you wouldnt last long either you need stand up striking , wrestling/judo AND jiu jitsu
Royler is a slender dude built kind of like Bruce Lee (5'7"-5'8", 135-145pds), yet can dominate men who weigh 100 pounds more and are several inches taller. I've grappled with him at seminars a couple of times...what an amazing jj player, and really nice guy.
ima amateur boxer and wrestle for my highschool in the 140lb weight.ive took courses in bjj to help me in wrestling(not many but some)and this 90lb kid said he could beat me in a fight so one day he came to the wrestling room and we rolled(no punches)and i hate to say it i was a hell of alot bigger and stronger and i won.strength and size always plays a roll in a grappling match
@dsettleascii if he was 90 lbs he was child ,so youre teenager who weighs 1.5 times more and wrestles competively and youre surprised you dominated an untrained child in a grappling match???Id say lay off the jerking off for a while .Nobody ever said size and strength dont play a very big role.
I have this Gi in Blue.
