These are VERY nice but a little over the top for me. It would take way too long to make the 50 or so I need! Do you have a simpler form, something in between this and the roll-around-a-can method others are doing, which seems too flimsy?
Yes you can put the whole thing into the ground but make sure you have every bit of paper covered by soil or it will wick out moisture.. I did an experiment this year. Some broccoli seedlings were started in peat pots and some in paper pots. When I harvested and pulled the plants out of the garden, the peat pots restricted the roots and the peat didn't break down much. The paper pots allowed for a much larger root system and there was no trace left of the paper.

I used the Financial Times of London, which is a fairly standard newspaper. Different l/w will just make it a little taller or wider.
If you feel yours is too tall, fill the bottom with biodegradable packing peanuts.

What is the l/w on the newspaper you use? I think the size of my newspaper half is a little different and the dimensions are off.
