I think you're mistaking what is seen as the problem with feminism. Its not a problem that women have the right to go to a women's shelter when in need of support, or that groups have laws protecting them. the problem is that men (also a group) often are excluded from such protections. feminism often sees inequality against women where there is none, and will refuse to see it when it applies to men.
i wholey agree with this point. i'm a feminist, but i've always seen men being victims of predudice and sexism equally to women. i am interested in creating public awareness of men who suffer with eating disorders and seeking public support for them. i see your thoughts are in a similar area for promoting access and fair treatment for men. maybe if you feel strongly about it you should try start campaigning for change in this area. i think it would benefit a lot of people.

Check your facts jackass. Women have been sitting next to men in the classroom since America was founded. In fact the first all woman college was founded in 1836 (Wesleyan college). The only thing women didn't have was the right to vote, and the right to work. And they didn't have those rights because they were oppressed. They didn't have those rights for pretty much the same reason children do not have those rights.

After blacks were given equal rights they were still discriminated against, and oppressed. Blacks also tends to come from areas where the school systems are not as good as, richer communities are. I am quite sure you are aware that there can be significent differences between various cultures. In order to ensure that we all have equal rights in regards to the services offered by the State and to our culture positive discrimination needs to be in place. Afterall what is applicable and/or relevant to the dominant culture will not be relevant to all others.

Feminists are fighting for equal rights, but it's true that they will target issues that give women a disadvantage, and won't really target things like equality in the family court etc. But you know that kind of behavior is expected, because it's a movement that represents females, you can't expect them to be the ultimate gender equality judge. it's just like a prosecutor represents the crown and a defense lawyer represents the client. I think you're mistaking what is seen as the problem with feminism. Its not a problem that women have the right to go to a women's shelter when in need of support, or that groups have laws protecting them. the problem is that men (also a group) often are excluded from such protections. feminism often sees inequality against women where there is none, and will refuse to see it when it applies to men.

i wholey agree with this point. i'm a feminist, but i've always seen men being victims of predudice and sexism equally to women. i am interested in creating public awareness of men who suffer with eating disorders and seeking public support for them. i see your thoughts are in a similar area for promoting access and fair treatment for men. maybe if you feel strongly about it you should try start campaigning for change in this area. i think it would benefit a lot of people.
