  • i love em both. The es339 had a warmer tone, and the les paul had a thicker tone.

  • ES339 win!

  • AMAZING!!!!!

  • 339 blues lp hard rock

  • @tamir1979 i'd disagree... I don't think a guitar can be assigned to a specific genre, unless ur really boring and wanna sound like everyone else

  • @louisalive I expressed badly, seems more comfortable the les paul to play hard rock. and the 339 I love for the blues. but with anyone you can play any kind of music. Best regards

  • @tamir1979 yeah man, tbh all this nerdery tends to take away from the musical side of things, if something feels good sonically... go with it, in my opinion

  • @louisalive estoy de acuerdo!

  • es 339 won, so much warmer sounding

  • After watching this video I've bought Es335 :-) you're fantastic!

  • this video is by ist he made the es 399 side bigger

  • orgasm at 3:40

  • Actually the 339 sounds much like the les paul if u use the bridge pickup

  • I love that BB . Gary clip as well, I watch it often , great take on it

  • Both these on the same amp and same settings?

  • thanks!

u make them both sound great with your tasteful playing

to me the lp sounds very solid, the 339 sounds more airy/organic

    both great gtrs

  • yeah les paul is beast!

  • Well done, es 339 is fantastic. My favorite guitar.

  • gary moore duet b b kink

  • Suddenly, there's a brand new, awesome meaning to the phrase "playing with yourself". Great blues playing!

  • Fantastic! Faaaaantastic!

  • Boy, you make both guitars sing!! Great! Greetings from Brazil!

  • i think ES339 wil be good if it plays country music

  • Gibson wins by a nose... for this song. They are both great sounding, and you handle them well. Thanks

  • besides the "two pal show" and the comparison is brilliant

  • great job! u didn't try to shred, hard to find now a days -_-

  • A little Gary Moore and BB King on Gary's Live Blues. The Thrill is Gone, really gone since Gary passed away.

    Mike

  • @SIXSTRING63 u noticed too huh? :) that was the greatest inspiration for me xD

  • how is the 339 compared to a 335

  • Nice work fellow string bender... you just helped me decide on buying an ES-339.

  • Judging by the switches, you are using different settings, ie. ES339 using neck pickup, Les Paul using centre pickup.

  • ohh man!!! you got the incredible tone and amazing tecnique at guitar!!! sorry for my bad english i´m from spain!congratulations!!

  • this kid is sick but he uses the same riffs in all his videos

  • @DL0GS that's probably for the sake of demonstrating the sound of the guitar playing the same thing to give you a better idea of how different they sound.

  • Very nicely done - good feel, great tone, nice comparison. I've always lusted after the LP Custom, but after hearing this, I kind of like the extra girth and fur of the ES. Cool split-screen presentation, too.

  • AWESOME!!!

your playing is great, and you got the emotion and the feel of the blues!!

    keep on playing !!

  • both are amazing

similar but the es is slightly airier while the lp is a little more solid

every committed gibson guitarist should have both in his collection

  • es 339 is such a weird guitar, but it has charm.

  • A lot more top end clarity on the bigsby LP

  • This is music to my ears.. Sweet sweet sound.

  • Brilliant video showing the differences between these two guitars. I've always loved Les Pauls but here the LP just sounds crude in comparison to the ES-339. Thanks for posting. Fascinating stuff.

  • the main difference is the es is warmer and the les paul brighter.

  • Absolutly enjoyable!!!

    Excellent job my friend

  • Really awesome man... you confirmed that my next guitar. es 339 here I come! SOO smooth.

  • You can't really go wrong with any Gibson. Both sound fantastic.

  • AWESOME!

  • Great video man!

  • dude it would be a fair match if the les paul wasnt a black beauty

  • Finally, I can hear the difference between both. I am definitely a 339 guy

  • You put feeling on every note and let it breath!

  • i love your style man

  • MY DREAM GUITAR!!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! I WANT IT SO BAD!!!!! (gibson)

  • I would go with the Jimmy Page Custom. Better looks, better sound(my opinion).

  • omg i love the ES, it's the guitar that Lifeson played Working Man on except upgraded :)

  • From a sound point of view, there's really not a lot in it so I guess it's all down to what you think looks cooler and the price.

  • ive played both and the es has a warmer sound to it

  • Great video congratulatios!

  • I want those guitars!

  • Nice comparison but if you are comparing the tone of two guitars why not use a pick for both or finger pick for both?? You are using a pick for the Paul and fingers for the ES. It is impossible to tell how much of the difference is due to this.

  • @TruthinessSeeker Skip to 3:20 and then he switches to a pick for the ES....

  • @ovalissimo Ok I see it now. The LP sounds brighter and clearer. I thought this was due to pick vs fingers. I would love to see pick throughout for direct comparison of that tone.

  • Kool Vid & sxs comparison. Some nice playing too. I'll favor the sunburst tonally since I've got a 339 in the red color. Great Guitars...!

  • What a great way to compare the guitars. Same song, same player.....just awesome.

i for one prefer the les paul...... but that's just me.

Great video....... and nice playing by the way.

  • Oops...lower output pickups on the 339 and the acoustic/ mellowed qualities but that's because I'm now into mellower/ cleanish tones like Rooben Ford and LC. I play the 339 more but it does feel a bit more cheaply made than I would have liked despite the price tag.

  • Great video! Useful and fun to watch. I have both an LP and a 339 too, and love them both. I agree with a review that you could use both in similar ways but they definitely have different characters. I like the Lowe o

  • Definitely prefer the 339 due to the type of music! Still loving the LP though.

  • very nice video

i prefere the 339 (but i hate the white pickguard)

  • ES-339 hands down! Love me some simi hollow.....

  • whick neck is thicker

  • Very nice.

  • This is hilarious. Are both guitars running through the same amp settings?

  • I absolutely love this! Thanks!

  • great and fun video!

  • GREAT!!!

  • the les paul is creamy and sweet, but the es-339 has a very dynamic tone...i'm gonna have to give it to the les paul, if it had been an LP standard or even studio, the 339 would have won by a longshot.

  • both is great

  • great player!

  • I recently got an ES-339 and love the acoustic sound. I also have a 1980 Gibson Les Paul (price 900 British pounds in 1981) with original PAF's which is superb. IMHO, (please don't get offended ) the Les Paul has the edge because Gibson are now skimping abit on productivity. The 1980 Les Paul FEELS like a Gibson, the neck is comfortable, low action.

The ES-339, although beautiful in tone, feels abit cheap, esp in the neck area.

Had trouble getting a low action.(bad factory set up)

  • ES 339

  • Yummmmmy

  • I play an es335 now tht guitar is the shit

  • es-339 all the way :)

  • You play great but your twin, not so good.

  • hey dude what pedals do you use? thanks

  • Well done mate for such great melodic playing. It was so damn good I went out and purchased the Gibson Es339 and am £1450 pounds worse off ! However its a great guitar and being a Fender Strat man I prefer the 339's tighter and slightly more cutting sound to the Les paul. The other video of the Strat vs les paul also shows geat playing. Great stuff.

  • Awesome idea. Great comparison, great tones and fun to watch. Cheers!

  • 7 people have no taste in music, awesome video, awesome playing

  • FANTASTIC -- Love it!!!!

  • i keep commin back to this video!!!! its too good!!! thanks for posting this video, i think its pretty fucking sick

  • real cool review. the paul sounds warmer. May I ask what amp your running??

  • Great video!

  • ha ha ha

    Cool man

    looklike twin

  • It's crazy... I prefer the 339 to that les paul and the 339 is probably 1/2 the price of the LP too.

  • 3:40 made me eargasm.

  • the es 339 wins

  • I'd like to see him do a single coil es-330 against the humbucker es-335.. love watching his stuff...

  • So thats how you do that tune , a to the a ...,...will do !

  • Gone is the Thrill.

  • good job man =) nice video and beautiful guitars!

  • the es 339 has a more resonant fuller sound. but then again of course it would, its a semi hollowbody

  • epic vid and even epicer guitars!!! great vid guy!!

  • It are both beautiful guitars but the Les Paul is a solidbody and the ES 339 is a semi-solid body that is making the different.

  • awesome!!! well done!!!

  • jajaja... simplemente genial... tocas super padrisimo...

  • anybody out there is that jimmy page bigsby les paul O MY GOD

    from where the haven???

  • @George068890 Your right, its a Jimmy Page signature. I borrowed it from Guitarworks Calgary

  • @coulsonsam87 dude thats like my fav store ever

  • Great video and really great playing!! Your skills are awesome.

  • I really like that you're showing off the sounds of each guitar by using the same settings for both parts. I dig the les paul tone myself.

  • omg. toooooooooone! wow. super sweet. could listen to this for hours. sweet.

  • YOU KNOW WHAT LES PAUL IS IT IT'S LEGENDARY JIMMY PAGE'S 50TH BLACK BEAUTY WITH 3 HUMBUCKERS AND BIGSBY MAAAAN WHERE AND FOR HOW MUCH DID YOU GOT THAT LES PAUL ?????

    JAWS DOWN

  • that is an es 335 or?

  • awesome skills =D

  • Very nice video, and I love your guitars.

    From a Gibson lover

  • are u guys twins?!? , jk i realizzed the leg on the right guy is cut off so its just the double of you

  • i like the es 339 better, it has a mellower sound

  • how old are you ?? your a little kid for god sake stop playing like that or im gona quit playing the guitar befor even i start it ... damn....

    :D

  • done great dude fucking awesome :) i wanna buy the red one of the 339 es and the gary moore signature.. on the moment i play a fender stratocaster standard arctic white and i have texas specials in em ;D btw nice playing!

  • man this is awesome, the 339's look so sweet

  • hey stop playing with yourself lol

    this video was amazing though

  • hey man great playing! im considering buying a 339 and i was curious as to how versatile you think it is. thanks. :)

  • Les Paul

  • Man! Where do you find the money to buy these sort of guitars!

This Rox!!!(Are u sponsored or something?)

    Awesome videos!

  • This is a truly exceptional video. Thumbs up :-)

  • OMG Constapation face

  • This is sooo Gibson. Both won.

  • les paul rocks more

  • you´ve got very good finger vibratos. every guitar player shoud care about finger vibrato

  • The Les Paul Custom is all mahogany, which gives it a darker tone. I think a Les Paul Standard with a maple top would compliment the ES 339 much more. I was never a fan of the Les Paul Custom.

  • you look like Alvin Lee, and maybe play as good too, great job!

  • This is superb melodic playing.

The billion dollar question and I know the two guitars are slightly different and I already own a Les paul myself but I suppose being mainly a Strat player cannot quite a sound I like out of the Les paul as I find it smetimes a but muddy for my liking. However I do like the sound of these 339's. the question being if you had to choose between a Les paul and the 339 which would you go for ? I play blues/rock.

  • te aburres mucho verdad

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this in Am? Good work!

  • I love your comparisons and playing, but it looks like you're playing without a pick on the 339 and using a flatpick on the Paul... that sorta gives the 339 an edge for a fatter tone by itself doesn't it? I would have liked to see this comparison done using either a pick or fingers on both. But anyhow, great playing as always :)

  • hm... on second view, it seems you are using fingers on the Paul too.... maybe just postioning your fingers as if there was a pick sometimes... sorry I spoke too soon! :)

  • Man, I looked at this video and I saw a young Alvin Lee of Ten Years After LOL

Real nice playing and I like the "mirror image" duet of your playing. Of the two guitars I think I like the ES339 but it is a close call. Nice editing too!

  • Both awesome and you are a class guitarist. For blues I reckon the ES339 nicks it. Les Paul for Rock or Blues-rock, as you can hear it has a little more bite. Beautiful guitars and excellent playing.

  • ES 339 body's sexy.... dig it..

  • i give it a 10....a fu**in 10!

  • les paul has a bit distortion on it.. ES is much smoother

  • Now...that was cool. Great playing - fantastic feel - creative video. The whole pacakge.

    Nice job!

  • yo could you give me the dimensions of the body of the 339? just the body, not the neck

  • its almost the same body size as a Les Paul

  • @rocket88bass4 Mines 17" long x 14" wide, same length as my les paul but an inch wider. .. or 430 mm x 365 mm, whichever you prefer.

  • Son u rock! Come to Texas! The Lone Star State Digz this Shit!

  • great demo, and nice playing. I think the 339 has the edge - the semi-hollow body gives it more of a round and complete sound, perfect for jazz and blues. Don't get me wrong, LPs are great guitars but they are kind of a one trick pony from my experience. The 339 and 335 are a little more versatile, IMO -

  • @lifternate: I think it's not only your opinion. When I just started playing guitar, I wanted the LP and nothing else, because the sound was so unique. One week later I didn't like it anymore, because it's ONE sound and it got boring to listen to. That's why I like the ES 339 and especially Fender strats with replaced pickups and rosewood fingerboard (little warmer, because strats can sound thin and cold).

  • i love les pauls but defiantly it looks like the ES 339 has a better clean sound

  • I like the ES 339. It has a warmer, jazzier tone to it.

  • I love this song, the original is pretty simple to learn but it's very very veryyy difficult to play like the way you (or bbk ) play it.

For me tallent it's this, succed in playing "easy" songs but with "felling".

Keep it man because you have a amazing felling!

  • deserves to rich with his talent !

  • does any one know what scale he's playing.......and i need sum1 to explain how to usse these scales in a solo like he is!!!plaeze&thanks

  • @madswagg28

Hey man, i mainly use the pentatonic scale. i mix in varrious modes, but the most important thing is to use the pentatonic scale, just try to get out of the first position to avoid repeating yourself. best of luck!

p.s watch paul gilbert instructional videos

  • Thanks Mahn !!!!!!!

  • @coulsonsam87 lol. "P.s. watch Paul Gilbert."

Best advice I've seen so far.

  • @coulsonsam87 are the paul gilbert videos you are talking about on youtube?.. or do you have to pay for them?

  • @coulsonsam87 Hey what guitar do you like more, the Les Paul or Strat? Thanks.

  • @madswagg28 he's in the key of A

  • A +

  • F****** NICE !!!!

    you're awesome !

    sweet style

  • nice man. creamy tones. great vibrato and bends.

  • How many guitars do you have? ;)

  • wow !!! what a so nice piece of guitar. Really so good, really good fealing !!!!!!!!!

    well, good job

  • I knew this piece already, but right now listened to it again. Now it really got me. Oh yes, I hear Gary! Bright. Brillant!

  • holy crap, you must be rich to own so many expensive guitars...

  • Impressive as always !! :) You're the best my friend ! I love the ES's sound ,very vintage and smoothy! and the cutom is magik !

  • I LOVE that Custom man!! it sounds soooooo good!!!!

  • Listened to it with my morning cuppa and a piece of toast. Set me up for the day, relaxed and wistfull. Took me back to my old art school days when we all wanted to play the blues. Nice one Sammy, Thanks.

    best regards Joe

  • Wow, lots of talent there!

  • NICE
