You got IN to film school? What exactly was your 'interpretation' supposed to be? What The Royal Tenenbaums would look like had it been absolutely terrible?
As other people said, it does come off a little like an episode out of some teen drama. The content of the scene is so corny that it can't help but be that unless it was played in some bizarre way, such as in the original.
This was my mid term project for film school. The intent of the project was to reinterpret a scene from the film, NOT recreate it. I love Wes Anderson and the film, but this is in no way supposed to be emulating how he directed it. That goes for the performances as well. That would be missing the point of the exercise completely. If you hate it, that's fine (a LOT of people do apparently), but hate what it is, not what it isn't. Thanks for watching.
i don't hate it but it's definately a change, good job, i've always wanted to recreate a scene from the Big Lebowski myself, yet my local bowling arena owners are apprehensive about it
Horrible acting. HAve they even seen the movie? Absolutely no emotional base...they project nothing. Little work done on costumes, AND DIDN'T even use a fucking tripod....which makes no sense if they were attempting the long, awkward still shots that Wes Anderson uses....This is SIMILAR to a scene in The Royal Tenebaums, but certainly NOT deserving of the title "A scene from The Royal Tenenbaums. Set design was good, yet completely disproportinate to the original tent.
wow, these two seem so perky, and in reality the scene is supposed to be sad but touching. STOP SMILING! this is like the Laguna Beach or something. mood = killed.
horrible acting you seem happy about the scene in the movie they are very sad to say the lest and you talk to loud and you don't seem like you got out of the hospital
kudos on a a great set design, very well done. the actor did a good job, he was very muted and sorta mumbled kinda like Luke Wilson. the actress did smile too much; margot is very deadpan and the actress seemed like she was just saying the lines. overall not bad, BTW AWESOME dolly out at the very end and i love the detail of the curtain closing and margot being at the very corner.
I think its funn that people waste time commenting a movie they dont like..well anyways i loved it i love the tenenbuams and thought iwas a really good scene. i like the part at the end with "richie" sitting on his bed and "margot" sitting outside the tent. nice camera work also! =]
This was not intended to be Wes Anderson's Royal Tenenbaums. I did not want a recreation of the film. The performances are not meant to reflect those by Gweneth and Luke, but my personal take on the material. I love Tenenbaums and Wes Anderson, but I hope you can enjoy this as something else entirely. At any rate, thank you very much for watching and leaving your comments.
I am glad that it was not meant to reflect it but if you really did not want it to then you should have been changed a bit more, fo instance the tent i like that it was much bigger but it also oculd have had a different lighting to it.
the guy did a VERY good job of getting richie right. the chick is waaay off on margot. margot shows hardly ANY emotions and puts little to no inflection into her voice.
this video was done very well, for the most part. :).
i would say that the guys acting was much like richie's, the girl's was good, too. but not exactly like margot's. very well done though!! ive acted before, and i know that its not easy, great job, actor/actress, and filmakers.
I think the guy acts richie really well.... the girl is an okay actress but she's nothing like margot....margot never smiles, and she has quite a monotone voice. a really well filmed clip though xx
this plays as a much more 'comical' version with less of a connection between them and the characters voices make their presence seem so different

I'm actually sort of glad that you didn't make it EXACTLY like the movie but try to make your own interpretation of it. Admirable, in my opinion.

margot is a hard character to get. i think considering the complexity, she did ok. i like the richie. he did a good job.

Honestly, I'm impressed.
As someone said below, you got what you want.
Both of you were able to connot the almost apathetic indifference and melancholy nature of this movie, especially this scene.
I'd say "well done."

great choice of songs... the acting didn't have a gloomy enough feel for it to be effective. it was decent though

the girl is good, the boy is just there, the cuts look fake [up the highway not across the street] it needs to be darker and margot does not smile.

the guy was right on. The girl and not using "she smiled sweetly" by the stones is what ruined it for me.
